Attendance at Pre-Cana and Natural Family Planning Classes is required. Anointing & Communion of the Sick Regular administration of the Sacraments should be arranged for shut-ins by calling the rectory. Emergency sick calls anytime. Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament Monday - Friday at 12:00-5:00 PM in the Chapel First Mondays, First Fridays at 7:30 PM in the Church. Rosary and Novenas The Rosary is recited each weekday at 8:10 and 11:10 AM and on Saturday at 8:10. The Miraculous Medal novena prayers are said after the 8:30 & 11:30 AM Masses on Mondays. MASS SCHEDULE PLEASE NOTE If a Mass is being said for a member of your family on Saturday evening or Sunday, it would be most fitting if someone from the family would bring up the gifts at the Offertory. 4 PARISH MINISTRIES Stations of the Cross Every Friday during Lent, Stations of the Cross will be conducted after the 11:30 AM Mass followed by Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament in the Chapel. Stations will also be conducted on Fridays at 7:30 PM. The Teen Club will conduct Living Stations of the Cross on Friday, March 27th and Friday, April 3rd at 8 PM in the Church. Lenten Bible Study Fr. Perez will conduct a Lenten Bible Study at 7:30 PM in the rectory on the following Mondays: March 16 and 23. The study will focus on the Letter of St. James, the Letter of St. Jude and Catholic Catechesis. Please join us. Women s Wednesday Worship What is Jesus calling you to do this Lenten Season? Please join us for our prayer group on Wednesday, March 18 at 7:30 in the rectory as we discover how to attain Christ s transformative power that will not only help us understand God s will, but give us the strength to accomplish what He asks of us. Lectors News The annual breakfast meeting and retreat will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2015 in the rectory basement from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM. The Spirituality of Pope Francis will be the topic of the retreat. Deacon Steve Tobon will be the presenter. All lectors are invited to attend. 7 THE SEASON OF LENT 1. Make a Prayer Chain: List 40 intentions or people on 40 slips of paper. Link them together into a chain. Rip one off each morning of Lent and pray for that need. 2. Memorize a Prayer: The Act of Contrition would be a good one for Lent, but if your kids already know it, pick a prayer they are unfamiliar with. 3. Color Easter Eggs: While you do, talk about why they are part of Easter. They represent new life. 4. Pick a Service Activity: It can be something small like paying for the person behind you in line at lunch, or do something bigger like visiting a nursing home to chat with residents. Talk about the Corporal Works of Mercy today. 5. Rosary: Catholics always pray the Sorrowful Mysteries during Lent. It may be hard to get wiggly kids to sit for this, but just practice. Maybe even find a guide for your child to follow along with. If you re feeling really ambitious, consider making your own Rosary while you pray it. 6. Take Stock of Sacrifices: Write a journal or talk about how your sacrifice is going this Lent. What can you do better? What are you doing well? 8. Make an Easter Basket for a Neighbor: Fill it with your favorite treats and surprise your neighbor with your gift. Don t forget to add a prayer card! 9. Read the Story of the Last Supper: Either read it straight from Scripture or find a kid s version. Either way, prepare a nice meal for dinner, and read and discuss the story while you eat. 10. Almsgiving Activity: Create an almsgiving box and choose a charity to donate to. Save all of your change this season by putting it in your family s box. 11. Light a Candle at Church: Let your child choose a special person to light a candle for. 12. Write a Note to a Clergy Member: Whether it be local or farther away, have your kids choose a person to write a letter to. Maybe your kid wants to write a thank you letter. It could even be a letter asking questions about our faith. You might get a great response! 13. Get a Fast Food Fish Sandwich: This is the one time of year that advertisers take Catholics into account. I like to support that idea by feasting on some fatty goodness. 14. Attend a Passion Play. Our Teen Club is performing one! Digital Prayer Tools for Lent 7. Plant Something: Plant flowers, or a plant, take care of it and watch it grow. Talk about new life and rising from the grave.
