Anointing & Communion of the Sick: Regular administration of the Sacraments should be arranged for shut-ins by calling the Rectory. Emergency sick calls anytime. ANNUAL BISHOP AHERN MEMORIAL LIFE MARCH AND MOTORCADE The Missionary Image of Our Lady of Guadalupe will be present on Saturday, June 2 following the 9:00 AM Mass at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church on Amboy Road and proceed to S.I. University Hospital South on Seguine Avenue. If you would like to join them and need further information you may call (718) HOME BOUND CLUB UPDATE On Saturday May 26, after the 5:15 Mass at St. Mary s Church in Rosebank the Elderly & Homebound Club will hold their Annual Fund Raiser Dinner. Ansaldi will celebrate the 1:15 Mass here at St. Charles After the Mass a reception will be held for him in the School Auditorium to celebrates his 50th Anniversary as a priest All parishioners are cordially invited to share this special day with him. BABY SHOWER The St. Vincent de Paul Society is sponsoring a Baby Shower on Saturday, June 19th and Sunday June 20th. Items like blankets, crib sheets and clothing etc. are needed for new born babies (only new items please). It is not necessary to wrap the gifts. You may put them in a plastic bag or paper wrapping and place them in the Wishing Well in the vestibule of the church. Your generosity and kindness is sincerely appreciated. ALL NIGHT VIGIL An All Night Vigil of Reparation, honoring the Sacred Heart and the Immaculate Heart will be held on June 15/16 at St. Clare Chapel on Nelson Avenue in Great Kills beginning at 9:00 PM (10:00 PM Mass) and concludes with the 5:00 AM Mass. Intentions: Reparation, Peace, Increase of Vocations, strengthening of Families and all Pro-Life issues. This is being sponsored by the S.I. world Apostolate of Fatima. All are welcome to join them. Christ continues to work through them, even though he has physically left them. As Christians on earth we still have work to do. The great hope that Christ has shared with us must lend to action. We are called to be apostles. During our proclamation of faith at Mass, we recall that Christ will come again. Meanwhile, our responsibility as members of Christ is to be sharers in His ongoing work of others. MAY CROWNING OF THE BLESSED MOTHER The crowning of the Blessed Mother will take place on Sunday, May 13 followed by a procession after the 1:15 PM Mass. We invite all to join us in honoring our Blessed Mother. SPONSOR CERTIFICATES Sponsor Certificates for Baptism and Confirmation will be given out by the parish priests or deacons after the Saturday evening and Sunday Masses. ST. MARY S CLEANING SERVICE A cleaning service based out of the St. Mary of the Assumption Parish, offers home or office cleaning services performed by qualified, responsible, hardworking members of the Ladies of St. Mary, (servicing the community for over 12 years). 5 Page 5 Many thanks to all who have made a gift to the Stewardship Appeal this year. As of this date 804 families have pledged $153, You still have time to make your pledge to help make our goal of $179,000. It would be wonderful if we could make our goal and also make a strong showing of the number of families who are participating in this years appeal. If you have not made your gift yet, you can do so by filling out an Appeal envelope and placing it in the collection basket on Sunday or drop it off to the Rectory at your convenience and we will forward it to the Appeal Office. The Appeal envelopes are at all the doors of the Church, please pick one up on your way out of Mass and prayerfully consider a donation to this years Appeal. Again thank you for your prayers and generosity to make this years appeal a success. BREAST CANCER PRESENTATION The Staten Island Breast Cancer Research Initiative Center for Environmental Science will be making a presentation to our parishioners on Wednesday, May 23rd at 7:30 PM in the school auditorium. The presenter will discuss the increased risk of breast cancer living on Staten Island, warning signs, early detection, control and non-controller risks, detection methods, and new research findings. It promises to be a very informative presentation. Please join us. WEDDING MUSIC WORKSHOP If you are planning a wedding in the near future and would like to arrange for music, please call the Rectory two months prior to the wedding and leave your name and phone number with the parish secretary, our Music Director will get back to you. TEEN CLUB The Teen Club meets on Sunday evenings at 7:00 PM in the School Auditorium. Open to all Teens of the parish. WORLDWIDE MARRIAGE ENCOUNTER The Worldwide Marriage Encounter is to proclaim the value of Marriage in the church an in the world. Together, we are making marriages, families and our Church stronger and healthier. CHARLES BOOK CLUB The next meeting of the St. Charles Book Club will be in the rectory on Thursday, June 7 at 4:00 PM. We will be discussing another N.Y. Times bestseller, Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet by Jamie Ford. This story explores the damage done to individual people during war and invites us into the lives of a Chinese American boy and a young Japanese American girl during a trying time in history. We once again look forward to sharing our ideas and feelings in a cordial and friendly atmosphere. Please join us. The members of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, want to thank you so much for giving us permission to sell chances at the entrance of the Church. We did sell all the chances allotted to us which was 200 books. The members of the congregation were very generous and cooperative and some just gave a contribution without taking the chances.
