3 Page Three STATIONS OF THE CROSS Every Friday during Lent Stations of the Cross will be conducted after the 11:30 AM Mass (followed by Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament) and at 7:30 PM. EASTER DUTY All Catholics are obligated to receive Holy Communion at least once a year. The time period for fulfilling this obligation begins the First Sunday of Lent (February 26th) to Pentecost Sunday (May 27th). LENTEN MEDITATIONS Fr. Antony will be conducting Lenten meditations from the Old Testament in the church at 7:15 PM followed by the Stations of the Cross, every Friday during Lent. BIBLE STUDY CLASS This Thursday, March 29th is the last session of Fr. Perez Lenten Bible Study Classes starting at 7:30 in the School Library. All parishioners are invited! Fr. Albin Roby will be with us today to celebrate a farewell Mass at 1:15 PM. We invite our parishioners to join him at this Mass and stop by the auditorium of the school for some light refreshments and an opportunity to wish him God s blessings in his new assignment. Participants will congregate for the first station at St. James Cathedral in Brooklyn, at 10:00 AM. After a station on the Brooklyn Bridge, the procession will follow the cross to a third station at City Hall Park in Manhattan, and a fourth station near Ground Zero. The final station will be at St; Peter s Church, on Barclay Street, concluding at 1:30 PM. At each station, there will be readings for the Passion, a meditation, a reflection and hymns. 5 Page 5 There is still time to make your pledge to this years Stewardship Appeal..... Our parish goal this year is $179,000. To date our parish has received $88,000 in pledges with gifts from 373 families. For this Appeal to be truly successful we must have the support of all our families. The Appeal is a vital source of funding for the programs and ministries that sustain the parishes across our Archdiocese. It is not to late to make your gift to the Appeal. We thank those who have already sent in their pledge and ask that those who have not as yet responded to prayerfully consider their gift to this years Appeal. If you have misplaced your pledge card there are envelopes in the rear of the church that you can use to make your pledge and you can drop it in the collection basket on Sunday or at the office or by and place your pledge directly with the Appeal Office. Last year at this time we had received over 863 gifts for the Appeal - we still have a long way to go! EASTER EGG HUNT Our Annual Easter Egg Hunt for children 5 years and younger will take place here on this Saturday, March 31st from 10:30 AM to 12 Noon in the School Auditorium. (the older children are invited to join us for refreshments). Pre registration is required, call the Rectory. BICENTENNIAL PARISH CAMPAIGN UPDATE Many thanks to our wonderful parishioners who are fulfilling their pledges to our parish s Bicentennial Campaign. Last week, we received a semi-annual distribution of $1,656.00, for a total parish benefit thus far of $695, This is a great tribute to your generosity and loyalty to our parish. We hope that all of our parishioners will make every effort to complete their pledges so that we are able to accomplish our parish projects. Thank you very much for your generosity. RELIGIOUS EDUCATION REGISTRATION Grades 1 and new families for Registration will take place on Tuesday, March 27th and Thursday, March 29th from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM in the school library on the 2nd floor. All families must be registered in the parish before signing up your child/children for classes. Registration Fee: $ Child $ or More Children Items required for registration 1. RIGHT OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS At the 9:30 Mass today, we will celebrate the third Scrutiny Rite with the Elect (those parishioners who will be baptized at the Easter Virgil). In the Gospel reading, John 11:1-45, Jesus calls Lazarus out of the tomb. We can all ask ourselves, this Lent - have we, like Lazarus, listened to Jesus calling us to new life? MONSIGNOR FARRELL HIGH SCHOOL The Farrell Players will be presenting their annual musical A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum on March 28 through March 30 in the school gymnasium. General admission is $16.00 on all nights. There will be a special admission price for the Wednesday and Thursday performances only of $12 for senior citizens and K-12 students. All tickets may be purchased at the door.
