Exposition at 12 Noon: Adoration until 7pm: Benediction at 7:00pm. BAPTISMS: All Baptism arrangements must be made at the rectory office beforehand. All parents and godparents should be practicing Catholic Christians. English Baptisms are at 2:30pm on the First and Fourth Sunday of each month. The must attend preparation meeting for parents and godparents is on the 3rd Monday of the month, at 7:00pm, at the rectory. Spanish Baptisms are at 1:00pm on the Second Saturday of each month, or after the 12:30pm Mass on the Second Sunday of each month. The must attend preparation meeting for parents and godparents is on the 1st Monday of each month, at 7:00pm, at the rectory. WEDDINGS: Arrangements must be made at the rectory with a parish priest or deacon at least four months before the wedding. Normally weddings are for parishioners, but special situations will be considered. We recommend a Wedding Mass for practicing Catholics. We recommend a Wedding Ceremony for non-practicing Catholics or mixed-religion couples. Both are valid Marriages. QUICEANERA: Arrangements must be made at the rectory with a priest or deacon at least two months before. FUNERALS: Arrangements can usually be made with the rectory office by the funeral director. We have the Book of Funeral Readings at the rectory for families who wish to look them over. A priest or deacon will usually attend the wake. SICK CALLS: If someone needs to be anointed, please call the rectory when they are seriously ill, don t wait too long. If someone homebound wishes Holy Communion, please call the rectory. It will usually be brought by a Minister of Care. NEW PARISHIONERS: Welcome to Sacred Heart Parish! Please register in the rectory office and be counted! CHANGE OF ADDRESS: If you leave the parish or move to a new address, please notify the rectory as soon as possible. PARISH FOOD PANTRY: Open Saturday s 10am -12 noon. Patrons need to call the rectory by Thursday to reserve food. I am told we have a lot of material for this Sunday s bulletin, so suffice it to say hat I wish everyone a Joyful and Happy Easter on behalf of all of us who minister at Sacred Heart! May the Risen Lord renew us all!!! Fr. Friedl Prayer for Easter Almighty God, you have created us anew. Nailed to the cross for our sakes, Jesus gave his life so that we might have a share in the new life of his resurrection. Now that we have been set free from the power of sin and death, we pray to be transformed by the Holy Spirit into the image of your love. In our Easter celebration, may we remember that we have not been saved for ourselves alone, but to become light for the salvation of the world and for your greater glory. Amen. THE EASTER OCTAVE Sun., April 4 - Sun., April 11 Eastertime lasts fifty days: seven weeks of seven days (seven equals Biblical perfection) plus one day: perfection plus! Like an eight-day Jewish wedding, or a child who can t bear to let go of Christmas, birthdays, and school vacation, the Church celebrates the Easter Octave: the marriage of heaven and earth, as the Vigil calls Jesus resurrection; our new members baptismal rebirth; our renewal of baptismal vows; our hearts divine vacation (Latin vacare, to be empty ), newfound time and space for love of God and neighbor. Make home an Easter garden! Adorn the dining table with a pillar candle (your paschal candle ), a bowl full of water (ideally, from the parish s baptismal font), a vase of flowers or bowl of sprouting grain with Easter eggs. Even non-singers can handle the three-fold Gospel Alleluia! Let that be your grace before meals, perhaps with a prayer recalling Emmaus (Luke 24:13-35): Be known to us, Risen Lord Jesus, as you were to the first disciples, in your word, in the breaking of bread, and in everyone we meet. Operation Rice Bowl Collection We will still be collecting Operation Rice Bowl this coming week. Please bring your Rice Bowls to place in the labeled receptacles that will be in church for this purpose. Or, better yet, why not bring the money you collected to church in a zip lock bag or similar container and keep your Rice Bowl at home. That way you can put spare change in it all year long, and continue to help those in need. What a great head start that will be for next year s campaign. Either way, please bring your Operation Rice Bowl offerings to church this coming week. A big Thank You to everyone who participated in this wonderful Lenten activity.
