Since we live in challenging times of new possibilities, we as stewards pledge to strive to provide for the spiritual and temporal needs of our people. As the stars guide the ships at sea, we seek to be a welcoming beacon of prayer and community to all who come that they find a home for their hearts and comfort for their souls. A copy of the birth certificate and attendance at Baptism Preparation class are required. Baptism is celebrated several Sundays a the year at 11:00 AM. Reconciliation/Confession Saturdays after 4:00 pm Mass, by request after weekday Mass, and other times that are mutually convenient for you and Fr. Chris. Marriage Couples wishing to marry must contact Fr. Chris at least six months prior to the date they desire. Log on to for info. Anointing of the Sick Anyone seriously ill may ask for this Sacrament of Healing. You may also request prayers and visits to homebound/ill parishioners. 2 ST. MARY STAR OF THE SEA Epiphany comes from the Greek meaning "Manifestation". Today we celebrate the arrival of the Magi bearing gifts for the Christ Child. This is the revelation of God the Son as a human being in Jesus. Only Matthew tells us this great story, so that we might see the light and know that the child these magi visited is the fulfillment of God s promise to us of love and salvation! Jesus taught us that whenever we assist someone in need, we are assisting HIM! When you give a gift to a child, or an adult in need, you are giving that gift to Our Lord. Next Sunday the Christmas Season will come to a close as we celebrate the Baptism of Jesus the return to Ordinary Time. Lent will be here before we know it Ash Wednesday is March 6th! Matthew alone tells us this grand and seductive story so that we might see the light and know that the child these magi visited is the fulfillment of prophecy, the king of the world that stretches to the magi s home country and beyond, right down the ages to us. We too see and understand anew. Like the magi, our patron saints for this day, we see in the newborn child the king of the universe and light of the world. Like the magi, we find in ourselves a new faith and a new life. Like them, we return to our home by a new route. We are asked to come away from this festive season ourselves renewed and awake to the presence of God among us. We are asked to find God where God is to be found, to be attentive and surprised and ready to bow down in adoration and to offer our gifts. 5 JANUARY 6, 2019 Non-Catholics are invited to join us in prayer. We kindly remind them not to come forward to receive Holy Communion. Catholics who are new to our Parish are asked to please introduce themselves to Fr. Chris after Mass. Registration may be done at the rectory during office hours or by dropping the parish membership form in the collection basket. Active parishioners are those who are registered, join us regularly for the celebration of the Mass and use the weekly donation envelopes. Only in this way can we issue documents attesting to Parish Membership and Catholic practice.
