3 Dear Parish Family, We have a good news! The Cardinal s Delegate for Extern and International Priests has appointed Rev. Victor Eduardo Cruz Buitrago, a Catholic priest from Columbia, as Associate Pastor for Sacred Heart Parish. He will join our parish staff on July 1st, On behalf of Sacred Heart Parish I am very happy to welcome Fr. Victor. He comes with varied talents, skills, enthusiasm and deep faith in Christ and his Church. I wish him all the best and hope he is here to stay for years to come. It is very difficult to get a priest nowadays, priests are just not available. There are not many priests! One priest takes care of two or three parishes in the Archdiocese. We are very blessed and lucky to get Fr. Victor Cruz. Please welcome Fr. Victor Cruz Buitrago. He will officially be welcomed to our parish next weekend at all the Masses. SUNDAY MASS: Wasted time is not a prized commodity in American society. We are a people ruled by the clock. Time is money because time is to be filled with purposeful controlled activity which is productive of things which can be sold. We are convinced that e must in control of time. The last thing the productive American would want do is waste time playing around with realities that do not produce a saleable commodity. What happens in our Churches every Sunday is the fruit of our week. What happens as the fruit of the week past is the beginning of the week to come. Sunday, like all sacraments, is simultaneously a point of arrival and departure for Christians on their way to the fullness of the kingdom. This is not ordinary at all. This is the fabric of Christian living.

Last Sunday was the summer event of the season. Sacred Heart held its annual parish picnic. Were you there? If you were you know what a great picnic it was. If you weren t there you missed a really good time. The weather was perfect for an outdoor event. The food was fantastic - not just hot dogs but all kind of other dishes, tacos, baked potatoes, corn on the cob to mention just a few and all kinds if drinks, including beer. The entertainment was fabulous. We re all familiar with the wonderful Tony Caponi. Then to add to the days enjoyment a group of young dancers from the South Side put their hearts and souls into difficult routines, changing costumes several times. Each costume was so beautiful that we were over-whelmed by the splash of color and clever props. We owe a big thank you to Fr Miranda and Deacon Ray and Lois Behrendt who headed the picnic committee Thank you. Plus all who helped to make it such a success - Thank you. A good time was had by all. Were you there?
