On Wednesday 6 th December 2017 at 7pm, there will be a meeting in All Hallows church for the children and their parents/guardians wishing to take this course, with the catechists Diane Franks-Herbert, Jo Taylor and Father Allan St Dyfrig s Preparation program runs on a Wednesday 6-7pm. The catechists are Mrs Maggie White and Mrs B Slaughter. If you wish your child to join the preparation program, please complete the Proforma found in the church foyer and hand to Father Allan or a catechist at St Dyfrig s (Mrs White or Mrs Slaughter) or All Hallows (Diane Franks-Herbert or Jo Taylor) PONTYPRIDD DEANERY + HOLY HOUR FOR EVANGELISATION - Just before our Lord ascended to heaven, he left us with final Great Commission: Go, therefore, and make disciples of all the nations. (Matt 28:19). This command is for all Christians and, following on from Proclaim 15, the Archdiocese has been working hard to encourage us all to share our faith, in word and actions. To support us in this calling parishioners from across our Deanery are coming together for a Holy Hour with Adoration before the Blessed Sacrament, with the special intention of evangelisation and mission within our parishes and the wider church. The churches will be taking turns in hosting the Holy Hour on the last Friday of the month. The next Holy Hour will be in St Dyfrig's RC Church, Broadway, Treforest, CF37 1DB on Friday 27th October, pm. Family Life Commission On Wednesdays 1 st, 15 th and 29 th November, there will be sessions in the Mostyn Room (formerly the CTS shop on the left of the Cathedral) open to the public from 11 am to 2 pm as a place of reflection for anyone who feels conscience of bereavement. Drop in at any time during these times to find a warm welcome. There shall be six elected members on the PAC. Therefore we are asking for nominations from interested people to participate on the PAC. Nomination Forms are available after Mass this weekend for the next two weeks. Nominations should be submitted in writing on these forms, one person should be the nominee and one person as the nominator. The Nomination forms are to be submitted to Fr Allan by the 29th October. If more than 6 nominations for the PAC are received, then an Election will take place over two weekends, i.e. 4/5 November and 11/12 November. Members shall serve for three years from Election and may not serve for more than two consecutive terms.
3 SAFEGUARDING OFFICER For many years now Mike Clinch has been the Safeguarding Officer for All Hallows. He has now retired from this post and, once again, I would like to thank him for all the work he has done over the years. For the past few months Mrs Maggie White has taken over his duties while a replacement is found. I would also like to thank her for the work that she has done. We now have a new Officer Suzy Stacey. She has undergone training for the post with Martin Mahoney the Archdiocesan Safeguarding Officer. I would like to thank her for volunteering to take up this position. APF MISSIONS RED BOXES...There are a number of emptied boxes for collection in the Church Foyer, please ensure that you have collected your box on the way home from Mass. If anyone would like to learn more about the work of the APF or would like to have a Red Mission Box in their home or would like to give a donation, please contact Teresa Bressington ( ) APOSTLESHIP OF THE SEA... Our Appeal for Rosaries, prayer cards, hats, gloves etc is still open if anyone would like to support this charity. HELP THE HOMELESS - THE WEATHER IS TURNING & THE HOMELESS NEED TO KEEP WARM! The Gilfach Goch Rock Solid Community Church will gratefully receive any unwanted coats & jackets to distribute to the homeless during their Monday night outreach work. PARISH CHRISTMAS DINNER...This years Christmas Dinner, will be taking place on Saturday 2nd December... The cost of this year s Dinner will be per head, this includes a three course meal and a glass of wine. We are fortunate to have More than a Community Choir to entertain us again this year. Don t forget to reserve your place!!!! Details of this year s menu is on display in the Church Foyer, please ensure that you see Teresa and book your place and your choice of menu. Teresa will be available of the next few weekends to take your details. TEA AND COFFEE /SOCIAL GATHERING We are trying to build up our TEA AND COFFEE after Sunday Morning Mass and would love to see more people coming in for a chat and catch up, plus the opportunity to meet new people and generally joining in and being part of our parish community. We would also appreciate more volunteers to help on the Tea Rota, we have a beautiful new kitchen, and as the old saying goes... many hands make light work, why not put your name down and join the Tea Team. BAKE and BOOK Sale...November... watch this space for further details in due course... This is our fund raising appeal for the HCPT Funds to send sick people to Lourdes... TEA DANCERS...We would like to take this opportunity to thank Tony and Kathy Jacobs for organising the Tea Dancing afternoons in the Parish Centre and their kindness and generosity of all concerned who raised 190 last Sunday afternoon for our fund raising appeal for the HCPT. Members of the UCM ensured the dancers were well refreshed with tea/coffee and biscuits during the afternoon in appreciation of their generosity to this appeal. WHEELCHAIR...There will be a wheelchair stored in the back confessional in the church for emergency use. This has been generously donated by a parishioner for use within the parish as necessary. Your Prayers are asked for Amelia Joseph and Frederick Greenwell who died recently. Their funeral services/masses will take place in All Hallows the week beginning 23rd October. ST. DYFRIG S NEWS Operation Christmas Child please join me again this year in the world s largest Christmas project. Our aim is to reach as many children as possible with a shoe box gift and show them they are loved and not forgotten. Empty she boxes will be left at the back of Church so please help yourself to as many as you feel you can fill. Leaflets will also be available at mass this weekend and filled shoe boxes can be left in the narthex to be collected. The final collection date will be the weekend of 18/19 th November. 4 ST DYFRIG S FAMILY GROUP - WATCH THE FIREWORKS! On Saturday 4th November Pontypridd Common will have a fantastic view of the Park when the Annual Fireworks Display comes to town! Come and watch it with us. We will gather at 1 Pencoed Avenue, Pontypridd, CF37 4AN at 6pm - the streets around the common get very busy! Wrap up warm and we will head over to the Common for the 7pm display. Afterwards we will share soup, hot dogs & Fireworks Night snacks. Everyone is welcome; Catholic & non-catholic: all members of your family. Please bring a torch and fireworks night food to share. This information provides an opportunity for existing and new parishioners to be involved in the ongoing work within the Parish. The PAC are in the process of updating the directory. The role involves attending at least 6 meetings throughout the year. Meetings take place during the week between 7pm-9pm. The PAC secretary will be responsible for taking and preparing the typed minutes for each meeting. If you wish to be considered please contact Fr. Allan or a member of the PAC. Thank you to everyone who supported the recent McMillan Coffee Morning, a total of 145 was raised for this worthy cause Thank -you to everyone who has been fundraising over the last few months and thank you to everyone who has supported any of these events. Because of all this hard work, we now have 25,000 in the Number 2 Account for the Church Restoration Fund. The next Fundraising event is the Autumn Fayre on Saturday 26th November so please support this event by making any craft items or donating items for the raffle, gift, bottle or tin stalls The Christmas Dinner and Dance will be on Friday 8th December - tickets are 16 and can be obtained from Veronica, or any member of the Fundraising Committee. Veronica will collect money if you wish to pay in full or pay by instalments.
