Grbbon 3 spent What to do wth a summer? t was a queston n my mnd so went to Personnel Bureau and explaned what thought and felt about a summer and no work. The result was a poston as a store assstant n Camp Maqua a Y. W. C. A. camp n Mane. The camp was a large one and store proportonally so. The store WELLESLEY COLLEGE N E W supples that were were many and var Onnr through Book Store one frst saw a counter of Japanese goods such as mght be expected n any Japanese shop. Next was a mscellaneous array of pottery soap anmals coasters and hammer sets followed by shorts and ths togeth whch sodas 3 all knds of candy aes. and sandwches took up back part of n tny ktchen at stove we flled all orders for coffee tea cocoa bacon and eggs anythng we could possbly make. My dutes were many. The store was open all day long except for two hours n afternoon. n evenng t was open drectly after supper and n agan from about half past nne to ten. The sellng part of t was fun n tself. t surprsed me to fnd how much learned about psychology of sellng. We were contnually shftng goods about dsplayng thngs on tables and decoratng place wth evergreens or Japanese lanterns. Then re was a whole system of trplcate orders to be learned organzaton of charge accounts and relaton between offce and store. Part of my ob was that of keepng supples could enter nto all regular camp actvtes. t was a camp for adults only and a new group of people came Consderng everythng can honestly say that never enoyed a summer more nor dd ever learn as much n so short a tme.
