5 Safety nstructons 2 Safety nstructons The devce may only be used for the applcaton area specfed. Relevant health and safety regulatons must be observed. When assemblng and nstallng the devce, the voltage supply must be dsconnected. Only qualfed personnel may assemble, nstall and commsson the devce. If an error occurs, dangerous voltage levels may be present at the DALI termnals and on the DALI control lne. 5

7 Devce descrpton 3.1 Applcaton area The DALI XC s a devce wth four nputs for controllng lghtng wth sngle momentary-acton swtches, double momentary-acton swtches and standard swtches, whch can be combned n some operatng modes. The DALI XC s suppled by the DALI control lne. For ths reason, a devce that provdes the voltage supply s requred for use n a lghtng system (e.g. DALI PS2). Fgure 2: DALI XC n a lghtng system as part of the comfortdim system 3.2 Operatng modes The Mode rotary selector swtch s used to set the operatng mode. Every letter A G on the Mode rotary selector swtch stands for an operatng mode specfed on the devce. If the rotary selector swtch s not turned to a marked poston, the DALI XC wll not functon. "MC" operatng mode Rotary selector swtch poston A Sngle momentary-acton swtches and/or double momentary-acton swtches and/or standard swtches can be used to recall programmed functons. The MC operatng mode can only be confgured usng the masterconfigurator software versons 2.10 and hgher. The devce does not functon n MC operatng mode by default. More nformaton can be found n the masterconfigurator software user manual nstalled wth the software. The user manual can also be downloaded from the Trdonc webste. A DALI XC devce n MC operatng mode can replace the DALI MC (art. No ). "SC-A" operatng mode Rotary selector swtch poston B Sngle momentary-acton swtches can be used to recall scenes. No scenes can be saved n ths operatng mode. A DALI XC devce n SC-A operatng mode can replace the DALI SC-A (art. No ). 7

Programmng mode cannot be enabled n the operatng mode. If the lghtng system s swtched to programmng mode usng another DALI XC devce, the momentary-acton swtches connected to the DALI XC n GC-A operatng mode can be used to group lumnares. A DALI XC devce n GC-A operatng mode can replace the DALI GC-A (art. No ). "GC" operatng mode Rotary selector swtch poston E Sngle momentary-acton swtches and/or double momentary-acton swtches can be used to swtch lumnare groups on/off and brghten or dm them. A system extenson s typcally started n ths operatng mode. If the lghtng system s n programmng mode, the momentary-acton swtches connected to the DALI XC n GC operatng mode can be used to group lumnares. A DALI XC devce n GC operatng mode can replace the DALI GC (art. No ). "Prog" operatng mode Rotary selector swtch poston F Commssonng or a system extenson can be started and completed n ths operatng mode. The lghtng system s n programmng mode whle these processes are ongong. "TuWh" operatng mode Rotary selector swtch poston G Double momentary-acton swtches can be used to set the ntensty and colour temperature of Tunable Whte lumnares. 3.3 Acoustc sgnals Some actons on the DALI XC elct a dfferent number of hgh beeps. Durng confguraton, beepng ndcates that some steps have been reached. The DALI XC beeps three tmes when the voltage supply has been establshed. In programmng mode, the DALI XC beeps once each tme a momentary-acton swtch s pressed. The DALI XC beeps once, twce or three tmes after varous confguraton steps. The DALI XC beeps once after approx. 1 s when one of the rotary selector swtches s turned to a new poston. 8

9 Project desgn 4 Project desgn The followng condtons apply for the project desgn of a lghtng system wth DALI XC: No more than 64 DALI-compatble control gear elements can be used. No more than 16 groups can be confgured. A lumnare can be assgned to max. 16 groups. No more than 16 scenes can be confgured. The maxmum number of DALI XC devces that can be used n a lghtng system depends on the total power consumpton of the devces connected to the DALI control lne. The power consumpton of the ndvdual devces can be found n the assocated data sheets. The followng nformaton apples to the use of the DALI XC n the comfortdim system. Assgnng groups to nputs (DALI XC n "GC-A" or "GC" operatng mode) Rotary selector swtch poston D or E The Confg rotary selector swtch s used to assgn dfferent groups to nput T1 and T2 and nput T3 and T4. 12 Commssonng 5 Commssonng Requrement: Lghtng system must have been fully nstalled. A DALI XC n Prog operatng mode s desgned for commssonng a lghtng system. However, f all DALI XC devces n the lghtng system are already nstalled and can no longer be accessed, a DALI XC n GC operatng mode can be used to commsson the system. Ths procedure s useful for cases where the lghtng system needs to be re-ntalsed. After commssonng, the Mode rotary selector swtch s used to swtch the DALI XC from Prog operatng mode to another mode so that t can be operated as an nput devce. The devce must be accessble n the concealed box for ths to take place. Alternatvely, a DALI XC devce can be connected to the DALI control lne at an accessble pont (e.g. the dstrbuton board) for commssonng purposes only. Commssonng conssts of three steps: 1. Start commssonng. If the DALI XC devces n the lghtng system can be accessed, commssonng can be quckly and easly started wth a DALI XC n Prog operatng mode. If the DALI XC devces n the lghtng system can no longer be accessed, commssonng can be started wth a DALI XC n GC operatng mode. 2. Group lumnares. Frst select the lumnare to be grouped. Ths lumnare s then assgned to a group usng a momentary-acton swtch. 3. Fnsh commssonng. 12

13 Commssonng 5.1 Startng commssonng Startng commssonng wth DALI XC n "Prog" operatng mode Exstng assgnments of lumnares to groups are deleted. Startng may take several mnutes dependng on the number of connected lumnares. 1. Hold down momentary-acton swtch (approx. 10 s). 2 beeps sound at the begnnng. 3 beeps sound after another 10 s. 2. Release momentary-acton swtch. Assgnment of all lumnares to groups has been deleted. Programmng mode s enabled. All lumnares are dmmed to the mnmum value. All lumnares are brghtened one after the other. All lumnares are then dmmed to the mnmum value agan. 1 beep sounds. One lumnare brghtens. When the last lumnare s selected, the frst lumnare s selected agan n the next step. The DALI XC beeps once every tme a momentary-acton swtch s pressed. 1. Use a momentary-acton swtch to select the desred lumnare. Lumnare brghtens. From now on, use the momentary-acton swtch to whch the desred group s assgned. 17 Savng scenes 6 Savng scenes Scenes can only be saved wth a DALI XC n SC operatng mode. Requrement: Lghtng must be set to the desred values. Secton Operaton descrbes how to set the lghtng usng a DALI XC. Go to Secton "Operaton" From now on, use the momentary-acton swtch to whch the desred scene s assgned. Secton Project desgn descrbes how to determne whch scene s assgned to whch nput. Go to Secton "Project desgn" Hold down momentary-acton swtch (approx. 10 s). 1 beep sounds. 2. Release momentary-acton swtch. 2 beeps sound. The current ntenstes and colour temperature values for all lumnares are saved as a scene. or 2. Hold down the momentary-acton swtch for longer than 2 s. 18 Regroupng lumnares 7 Regroupng lumnares Groupng can only be carred out wth DALI XC devces n GC-A or GC operatng mode. Regroupng refers to one of two cases: 1. Regroup ndvdual lumnares. If a lumnare that s already assgned to one group s added to another group, the lumnare s then assgned to both groups. To change the assgnment,.e. move a lumnare from one group to another, the exstng assgnment must frst be deleted and the lumnare must then be reassgned to the desred group. Ths process s descrbed n ths secton. 2. Regroup all lumnares (re-ntalsaton). If more than one lumnare must be regrouped, t may be more effcent to delete all assgnments frst and then reassgn all lumnares to the desred groups. Ths process s descrbed n Secton Commssonng. The colour temperature of the Tunable Whte lumnares n the assgned group stays the same. Dmmng lghtng Hold down double momentary-acton swtch. The group assgned to the momentary-acton swtch s dmmed. 24 System extenson 9 System extenson If lumnares or DALI XC devces are added or changed n the lghtng system, these devces can be ncorporated nto the controls usng a system extenson. If the DALI XC devces n the lghtng system can be easly accessed, the system extenson can be quckly and easly started wth a DALI XC n Prog operatng mode. If the DALI XC devces n the lghtng system can no longer be accessed, the system extenson can be started wth a DALI XC n GC operatng mode. 9.1 Startng system extenson Startng system extenson wth DALI XC n "Prog" operatng mode Brefly press momentary-acton swtch. 2 beeps sound. Install the new lumnare n accordance wth the accompanyng nstallaton nstructons. 4. Reconnect the voltage supply. 5. Start system extenson. Updated lghtng system data s saved to all DALI XC devces. In programmng mode: The lumnare that s brght s the one that s currently selected. Lumnares can be selected usng any momentary-acton swtch on any DALI XC n operatng mode GC-A and GC. Brefly pressng a momentary-acton swtch selects lumnares one after the other. When the last lumnare s selected, the frst lumnare s selected agan n the next step. The DALI XC beeps once every tme a momentary-acton swtch s pressed. 6. Use a momentary-acton swtch to select the new lumnare. Lumnare brghtens.
