Besde them strutted the old Cotllon members, some talkng carelessly about the tme they were ntated, others remndng ther future club ssters of the dsagree.ml trals they w r ere about to undergo. A bt releved but perhaps a bt uncomfortable, the goats ended the frst part of ther ntroducton to the club. Solemnly they sat wonderng USt what was gong to happen next. My! What an excellent nterpretaton of the Caroka that Anne Dggs. Wnne Goodman. Bernce Jones and Mary Lee Powell gave! And Helen Smth really should double for Mae West. The old grls W< re qute pleased wth some of the flatterng speeches about them and ther club. "But what spunk you have, Mss Jones." Why Bernce just stated that some of her upperclassmen mght have refraned from beng qute so "horsey." Havng recovered from the shock, the club qute agreed wth her. A place s honored n beng sell eted for the holdng of ths nsttute, and t becomes us to honor ourselves by honorng those who honor us wth ther presence. We learn from Mr. L. C. rvng. the County Superntendent of Schools, and general master of ceremones attendng the openng and conduct of the Normal, that t s expected that the people of the town wll defray the ncdental expenses consequent upon holdng of the nsttute here, such as keepng the lecture rooms of our Normal n order, servants attendance, ce water, lght, etc., and that these wll amount to about $00. Just remember that at a most reasonable calculaton. $4,000 wll be left here by the teachers who attend, and that our young people wll have the ad-. ant ages of the lectures, and the amount wll be forthcomng at once. The nsttute wll open on the 26th of July and contnue n sesson one month. Taken from Farmvlle Journal, 887. Va. nverslty Ranks 27th Vrgna unversty ranks 27th among the 6 nsttutons.
