3 June 5, 2016 Basic Truth: God made me. Key Question: Who made everything? Bottom Line: God made everything. Memory Verse: You made the world and everything in it. Psalm 89:11, NCV Bible Story: Creation, Day 1 Light and Dark Genesis 1:1-5 Make It True (, 15 minutes) After children have participated in Make It Fun, tell the Bible story and then encourage the kids to have fun singing with you. When sharing the Bible story, guide kids to gather around you on the floor. Some kids (especially the younger ones) may wander. That s OK. They re still listening and learning! Worship (on laptop) Everything Come and See TEACHER: It s so great to see everyone this morning. This summer, we re going to be learning that God made everything! He did! God made everything! Isn t that awesome? Let s sing a song about that! Lead children in singing Everything (God Made). (Clap.) Wow! That was great! God loves it when we sing to Him! Did you know that God made you and [Basic Truth] God made me? He did! He made you and everything in this entire world. Who made everything? [Bottom Line] God made everything! Now let's get ready to hear a true story from the Bible. Bible Story What You Need for the Month: Each week, for the next two months, you will be introducing a day of Creation using a train theme. You can make the engine and cars of Curriculum Materials for 2-year-olds 2016 The rethink Group. All rights reserved. 3

4 your train out of different colors of poster board, or you can use artwork that we provide to cut out the shape of your train engine and the cars that will follow it. You should start with the engine already attached to the wall. Then you will add on train cars each week so that, by the end of the series, you will have a complete train on your wall. You will need a volunteer Small Group Leader who can come in at the appropriate time during the story with that week s train car and attach it to the wall. You may also download some free train sound effects at that you can use as the train car enters each week. What You Need: Car 1 from the Activity Pages on the Website, flashlight, pillow, soccer ball, and Bible STORYTELLER: Good morning, everybody! Today is such a great day! I have a super special story to tell you today. It s a true story from the Bible. (Hold up your Bible.) It s the story of how God created the world! We are going to do something so fun to help us learn all about how God made the world. We are going to call a special train to come and help us learn all about Creation. When I say, All aboard, I want you to say, Toot! Toot! Are you ready? All aboard! (Pause.) All aboard! (Pause.) (Start playing train sound effects.) (Excitedly) Oh, I hear the train! It s coming! (Cup your ear and lean to the side, as if listening.) It s pulling into the station! Now it s time to hear about the first day of Creation! (Volunteer brings the first train car in and tapes it to the wall behind the engine.) Wow! It worked! Great job, everyone! That s the engine, and this is the very first car of our train! What s the number on this car? (Pause.) Number one. That s right! You know what else? Do you see this switch? It s for a light, like this. (Hold up the flashlight.) But why would I need a light switch or a flashlight to help me learn about what God created? Hmm when I need answers, I look in the Bible! (Hold up your Bible and then open it.) It says that on Day One, God made light and dark. [Bottom Line] God made everything! (Turn the flashlight on and off.) Curriculum Materials for 2-year-olds 2016 The rethink Group. 5 This train is showing us that, on Day One, God made light and dark! Just like this. (Turn the flashlight on and off.) Light and dark! Cool! We do different things in the light and dark, don't we? (Hold up the pillow.) When do we use a pillow? Can you tell me when you go to sleep? Do you go to sleep when it s dark outside? Yes, we all go to sleep when it s dark outside. Show me how you sleep. (Rest your head in your hands.) What about this? (Hold up the soccer ball.) What is this? That s right! It s a soccer ball. You can kick a soccer ball around when you play outside! Can you tell me when you play outside? Do you play outside when the sky is light? Yes, you play outside when it s light outside. What do you like to play? (Pause for responses.) God made the light so we could do special things during the day, and He made dark for the things we do at night. On Day One, God made light and dark. Let s put our train car up on the wall to help us remember that God made light and dark on Day One. (Volunteer will attach the car to the wall behind the engine.) Awesome. It s true! [Bottom Line] God made everything! Who made everything? CHILDREN and STORYTELLER: [Bottom Line] God (point up) made everything! (Spread your arms out to the side.) STORYTELLER: That s great! Say it with me one more time. Who made everything? CHILDREN and STORYTELLER: [Bottom Line] God (point up) made everything! (Spread your arms out to the side.) STORYTELLER: That s right! God even made you, and [Basic Truth] God made me, too. Let s pray together and thank God for creating everything! Dear God, thank You for everything You have made. We know You created light and dark.
