3 August 14, 2016 Basic Truth: God made me. God loves me. Jesus wants to be my friend forever. Key Question: Who loves you? Bottom Line: God loves me. Memory Verse: Nothing can separate us from God s love. Romans 8:39, NIrV Bible Story Focus: God has a plan for me. Abraham Genesis 12:1-7 Make It True (, 15 minutes) After children have participated in Make It Fun, tell the Bible story and then encourage the kids to have fun singing with you. When sharing the Bible story, guide kids to gather around you on the floor. Some kids (especially the younger ones) may wander. That s OK. They re still listening and learning! Worship (Do 1 or 2 songs with instruments) Everything God Made Part 2 My God Is So Big TEAM LEADER: Good morning everyone. Are you having fun blasting off into the new year together? Are you learning our three basic truths? Who loves you? [Bottom Line] God loves me. Yes, He does! Lead children in singing Never Be Alone and My God Is So Big. Wow! You are doing great with this song. It s so fun to sing together with you! Who loves you? [Bottom Line] God loves me. Bible Story What You Need: A Bible TEAM LEADER: (Lay Bible down in front of you.) Come here, everyone, and sit with me! It s story time! Yay for story time! Our story comes from this very special book the Bible! (Hold up Bible, give it a big hug, and lay it down.) 4 We love the Bible because it has God s stories in it. And God s stories are always TRUE! (Thumbs up.) The Bible story today is about an old man named Abraham. Abraham had a wife named Sarah and a nephew named Lot. Abraham and Sarah and Lot had a house and clothes and furniture and food and servants and animals. Then one night, God talked to Abraham and told him he had big plans for him. God wanted Abraham to take his family and all of his stuff and start walking. God said He would tell Abraham where to go. That would be really, really hard to trust God and believe that He had the best plan. BUT Abraham did trust God. Abraham knew that God loved him. And God told Abraham He had a plan for his life and for his family. All Abraham had to do was follow God s directions. Well, that sounded like a pretty good plan to Abraham, so he went home and packed up all his stuff. They didn t have cars back then, but they had donkeys! So they loaded all of their things into baskets and put them on the donkeys to carry and Abraham and his family started walking. So, let s pat our legs while we follow Abraham. Ready, friends, to pat those legs? (Listen and demonstrate.) All right, just like this. (Keep demonstrating.) And weeeeeeee re off! Abraham and his family were walking and walking and walking. And, friends, they were walking a lot! They just kept walking. Keep patting your legs! (Demonstrate.) Whew! This is a lot of walking! Keep walking, friends! Walking, walking, walking. Friends, Abraham and Sarah and Lot walked and walked and WALKED for days until they got to the land of Canaan. Oh, thank goodness! Whew! I bet they were tiiiiired. God told them to stop there for a while. That means we can stop patting our legs now too! Oh, good. Hands in your lap. (Demonstrate.) Great job, friends. So they got to Canaan and God told Abraham some pretty important news. He said that someday all this amazing land would belong to Abraham s family, and God said that Abraham s family would be huge. He loved Abraham so much and Abraham trusted what God said. Wow, right? God had a plan for Abraham all along. Abraham just had to follow him! And you know what? God has a plan for YOU, too! He loves you so, so much. You have a whole big life ahead of you and if you do like Abraham and follow God, you never know what God might do! God has a plan for you and He loves you. Who loves you? [Bottom Line] God loves me! So, when I ask you: Who loves you? (hand to ear), you guys are going to yell out: [Bottom Line] God loves me! Ready? Who loves you? 5 TEAM LEADER: Great job! But I think you guys could say it a tad louder. Ready? Who loves you? (Hand to ear.) CHILDREN and TEAM LEADER: [Bottom Line] God loves me! TEAM LEADER: Excellent! It s true, friends! Let s pray. [Do Open them, close them. Children will say the finger play with you and repeat each line of the prayer after you.] Open them. [Open hands.] Close them. [Close hands.] Open them. [Open hands.] Close them. [Close hands.] Give a little clap. [Clap hands.] Open them. [Open hands.] Close them. [Close hands.] Open them. [Open hands.] Close them. [Close hands.] Fold them in your lap. [Fold hands in lap.] Dear God, thank You for this amazing story in the Bible to teach us that You love us and have a plan for us. We love You, God. Amen.
