CHAPTER - 02 MOHD. RABE HASANI NADWI: LIFE, EDUCATION AND PERSONALITY

CHAPTER- 2(a) Early Lfe and Famly Muhammad Rabe Hasan Nadw, son of Rashd Ahmad Hasan was bom n a wellbred and educated famly on the IS"" day of October 1929 AD (6"" Jamada-I, 1348 AH) n the vllage Taka Kalan of dstrct Raebarel n Uttar Pradesh, Inda. In hs name the word "Hasan" refers to Hashemte Famly background and the word "Nadw" refers to hs study at Nadwatul Ulama, Lucknow. In the subcontnent Inda, hs famly was at frst establshed n North Inda n the 6' century AH. Ths famly had been there for few centures. Later on, durng the regn of the Emperor Aurangzeb (1118 AH), t shfted fnally to the vllage Taka Kalan of dstrct Raebarel, U.P. Hstory wtnesses that Shekh AlamuUah Hasan (1096 AH), a great personalty of Islam who was a follower of Sayed Adam Banur (1053 AH) arrved at that vllage of Raebarel and settled there. Thereafter the place was named as 'Shah AlamuUah Crcle'. Popularly t s sad 'Taka Klan'. Once Shekh AlamuUah wanted to mgrate for Hejaz but Abdul Shukur, a well known Islamc fgure of the perod forwarded hs zeal to hm so that he (Shekh AlamuUah) mght stay n ths regon for gudng the people accordng to the lght of the Holy Quran and preach the Islam n general.' So Shekh AlamuUah stayed at Taka Kalan and bult a bg Mosque there. However, hs father Sayed Rashd Ahmad, bom n 1311 AH was a very relgous person. It s sad that he used to perform the prayers always n Mosque. In character, he was very polte wth relgous behavour. He marred Sayedah Ummatul Azz, daughter of Abdul Ha Hasan and sster of Al Ma. So Rabe Hasan Nadw came n the cradle of such relgous orgn that he got the nfluence of Islamc surroundngs n the very commencement of hs lfe. Ths has brought hm to a unque status n relgous phenomena. Hs father Sayed Rashd Ahmad breathed hs last n 1395 AH and survved by fve sons. They are: a) Late Sayed Mahmud Hasan (d AD) b) Sayed Muhammad Hasan c) Sayed Muhammad Than ' ^j*]\ ;_jj j> jl,\jy^\ :S.jL, by Mohd. Hs famly s chaned from Calph Hazrat Al Murtada (May Allah be pleased upon hm). I menton the ancestral herarchy of Mohd. Rabe Hasan Nadw as follows: Hazrat Al Murtada (May Allah be pleased upon hm) Hazrat Hasan Mujtaba (May Allah be pleased upon hm) Hazrat Hasan Musanna Hazrat Abdullah Al-Mahaj Muhammad Shaheb Al-Nafs Al-Zakya Abu Muhammad Abdullah Al-Ashta Muhammad Than Husn Al-Awar Al-Zawad Naqb Al-Kufa. Rabe Hasan Nadw. It s found that there s a long chan of 42 members, h s not possble to menton the detal of each person. It needs more research works. In my research work, 1 study only on Mohd. Rabe Hasan Nadw. The detal of hs lfe and works s comng n forth-comng chapters. ' ^'M-JJI JJ^I.le U. -By Abul Hasan Al Hasan Nadw, (Publshed by Sayed Ahmad Shahd Academy. Lucknow^ 1425 AH/2004 AD). 6 CHAPTER- 2(b) Educaton Muhammad Rabe Hasan Nadw was bom n a well-bred and well-educated famly n Uttar Pradesh, Inda. Hs father Rashd Ahmad and mother Sayedah Ummatul Azz were very pous n ther lfe staunchly followng the Islam and very arduous n educaton. So, by brth, Muhammad Rabe Hasan Nadw got the Islamc relgous educatonal nfluence on hm. Muhammad Rabe Hasan Nadw n hs very chldhood learnt the elementary Islamc and Arabc educaton under the royal and pous patronage of hs parents and grandmother at home. It was the mportant perod of hs lfe whch ran the nnocent mnd nto the relgous lumnance and educatonal effulgence n the very commencement of hs lfe. Beng matured under the keen tutelage of hs mother Sayedah Ummatul Azz, Muhammad Rabe Hasan had earned the elementary Islamc and Arabc educaton at home. Then he went to Lucknow for learnng hgher educaton.' Durng hs stay at Lucknow, he got hmself under the chef gudance of hs two maternal uncles Maulana Abdul AH Hasan and Maulana Abul Hasan Al Hasan. Rabe Hasan studed the valuable books on language and lterature and relgon under the abstruse gudance of Maulana Abul Hasan Al Hasan.^ He adorned hs wsdom wth enough skllfulness n lterary and relgous educaton there. Then he started hs study at Nadwatul Ulama, Lucknow and he learnt and became traned n wdespread educaton from the great wse men of the then perod. Amongst them, the menton may be made to Shekh Abdul Qadr Raebarel, Shekh Muhammad Zakarya Kandhalaw and Shekhul Islam Shekh Husan Ahmad Madan. Rabe Hasan secured the degree from Nadwatul Ulama n 1948 AD.^ Then he was apponted there as a teacher. In 1950 AD, he went to Hejaz accompanyng hs uncle Abul Hasan Al Hasan Nadw and spent there more than one year n propagatng Islamc Mssonary Actvtes and earnng knowledge from the ntellectual groups. Then n 1952 AD, after hs hark back to Lucknow, he was apponted as the Assstant Teacher of Arabc Lterature n Nadwatul Ulama, Lucknow. ' v'jj M^ > ^\jy^ -By Muhammad Rabe Hasan Nadw. 7 81 Besdes these, a relable source mentons that Muhammad Rabe Hasan Nadw durng hs study at Nadwatul Ulama earned Islamc-Arabc and mundane knowledge from the famous learned personaltes lke Shekh Muhammad Al Ata, Sayed Hmd Uddn, Muhammad Ishaq, Muhammad Wayb Nagram and so on. Especally he studed the lterature and grammar under the recondte tutelage of Muhammad Najb Nadw and hs maternal uncle Abul Hasan Al Hasan Nadw. Thus to them Rabe Hasan s always n debt because hs lfe s so grandeurly nfluenced by them what he had never got from anyone else. Later on, to have the fne and shne knowledge on Islamc Jursprudence and Commentares, he went to Darul Uloom, Deobond and spent there one year. He also spent some memorable days at Mazharul Uloom, Shaharanpur and adorned hmself wth more sklled qualtes under good glance of dgnfed teachers theren. To conclude I may menton that from the above dscusson, Rabe Hasan Nadw has mantaned hs formal educaton lfe n studyng only at Arabc-Islamc Insttutes. I have not found any book wrtten by hm demurrng Arabc and Urdu. Nevertheless, he occupes a unque status at natonal and nternatonal platform of educaton. It ndcates that Rabe Hasan Nadw, though not studed at any general college or unversty but he has wde knowledge n mult-angular aspects of human lfe. It s essental here to menton that I have found very scarce nformaton about the educaton of Muhammad Rabe Hasan Nadw. The nformaton I have mentoned above are almost from relable personaltes of Nadwatul Ulama, Lucknow. &&&&&&&&&&

CHAPTER- 2(c> Teachng Muhammad Rabe Hasan Nadw s a noted scholar. He occupes promnent poston as a teacher especally n Arabc lterary and Islamc relgous ground. Allah has bestowed hm wth the abundance of knowledge whch s not possble to express through ths sngle research work. Beng an nternatonal fgure, hs teachng s not lmted to the four walls of Inda. It s wdespread throughout the whole world. The students from the dfferent comers of the world have been beneftted by learnng lterary and relgous educaton from hm. Hs teachng method s hghly benefcal. In 1949 AD, after completng the study, Rabe Hasan Nadw was apponted as Assstant Teacher at Darul Uloom, Nadwatul Ulama, Lucknow. As an Assstant Teacher, he occuped promnent poston. The students used to learn abundant from hs deep cooperatve teachng. He had contnued hs keen servce as Assstant Teacher at Nadwatul Ulama, Lucknow for three years. In 1952, he was apponted as Assstant Professor at Darul Uloom Nadwatul Ulama. Beng a person hghly relgous and educated, he submtted hs best efforts for the mult-angular development of educatonal surroundng and relgous arena wth hghly mpressve teachng durng ths perod. In 1955 AD, Muhammad Rabe Hasan was apponted as the Head of Arabc Department at Nadwatul Ulama. Allah has bestowed hm wth a vast and deep knowledge that enables hm to occupy a unque status n teachng. The learners are very fond of hs teachng. Once a learner learns anythng form hs teachng, he easly goes through the mplementaton of ths knowledge n hs practcal lfe because he teaches very practcally. These are the qualtes Allah has gven to Rabe Hasan whch led hm to nstant promoton n ths famous Insttute. He was apponted the Dean, Faculty of Arabc of Nadwa n 1970 AD. He was conferred award by Indan Councl Uttar Pradesh for hs contrbuton n the feld of Arabc language. He was also conferred Presdental Award for hs contrbuton n the feld of Arabc language n the same year. In 1993 AD, he was apponted Muhtamm (Regstrar) of Darul Uloom Nadwatul Ulama. In 1999 he was apponted Nab Nazm (Deputy Vce-Chancellor) of the Nadwa. In 2000 AD. after the death of Abul Hasan AH Hasan Nadw, he was elected as Nazm (Rector) of Nadwa. He was unanmously elected as the Presdent of Al Inda

83 Muslm Personal Law Board n June 2002 AD at Hyderabad after death of the then Presdent Maulana Qaz Mujahdul Islam Qasm. In concluson I may menton that the methods of teachng and learnng that Muhammad Rabe Hasan, Rector of Darul Uloom- Nadwatul Ulama: Lucknow has appled n the nsttuton are very auspcous for the development of Arabc Language and ts Lterature. But the mass educaton does not mean only the study Arabc Language and ts Lterature. Otherwse, n an ntervew Rabe Hasan says, "The dawah workers you have mentoned have ganed name and fame because of ther Englsh background. However, several of our students are workng slently n Hnd areas." It ndcates that the Englsh language background of Nadwatul Ulama, Lucknow s n lapse. It gves due mportance on Arabc, Urdu and Hnd. But Englsh s the language through whch one can express hmself any where n the world whle Hnd s crcumscrbed n Inda at all. It shows a lacuna of educatonal system of Nadwatul Ulama, Lucknow. So there should be open rules and regulatons for learnng the other languages at the nsttuton under keen efforts Muhammad Rabe Hasan Nadw. &&&&&&&&&&&& The Islamc Voce-Vol No:17l-MARCH 2001 /ZIL-HIJJA I421H

CHAPTER- 2(d) Hs vst to the dfferent parts of the world Muhammad Rabe Hasan Nadw, beng a fgure nternatonal, a person wse and pous, a status famous vsted many countres of the world for educatonal and relgous purposes. He made most of hs trps to the foregn countres along wth hs maternal uncle Abul Hasan Al Hasan Nadw. Here n ths sub-chapter I am gong to deal wth the mportant trps of Hazrat Rabe Hasan Nadw. It was 1950 AD, Hazrat Rabe Hasan went to Hejaz accompaned wth hs uncle Abul Hasan 'Al Hasan Nadw and spent there more than one year engaged n Islamc Mssonary Actvtes and earnng knowledge from the ntellectual groups. On 21 June 1973 AD, Rabe Hasan Nadw accompaned wth the delegaton of Abul Hasan Al Hasan Nadw, whch reached Mecca al-mukarramah through Iran.' Rabe Hasan spent 5 (fve) weeks n Haraman Sharfan. It s necessary to menton that ths whole trp was on the bass of educatonal and relgous preachng msson. On 29 July 1973 AD, Rabe Hasan started another trp. The frst destnaton of that trp was Berut. At Berut he vsted many educatonal nsttutons and admnstratve offces. Very relevant to ths vst, Rabe Hasan made nteracton wth many hghly educated and pous personaltes ncludng the leaders, Muslm Mnsters and admnstratve offcers of Berut. But the whole trp was under the patronage of Abul Hasan Al Hasan Nadw. It s also to menton that at Berut, he attended varous meetngs. Agan n the Darul Ifta of Lebanon, he met Muft Shekh Hasan Khald, Prme Mnster of Lebanon Taq Uddn, Ex-Prme Mnster Saqb Sallam and Muft Amn Husan. In May 1976 AD, Rabe Hasan Nadw vsted Rabat. A three-day meetng of 11"', 12"^ and 13"' May 1976, was held by Islamc Unverstes Federaton ( cu^ujl -Uajlj A^UV) at Rabat and Abul Hasan Al HasanNadw was a member of the Federaton. The secretary of the federaton nvted hm to jon the meetng. Agan the same nvtaton was also sent to the secretary general of World Islamc League Muhammad Saleh Qazaz. But due to some unavodable crcumstances he could not attend the meetng. So he asked Abul Hasan Al Hasan Nadw to represent hm. 11 85 Hasan Al Hasan Nadw was at Hejaz and Rabe Hasan Nadw was also wth hm. Saleh Qazaz, however, arranged the whole system of trp and sent Rabe Hasan Nadw to manage the trp. On 6 May 1976 AD, Abul Hasan Al Hasan and Rabe Hasan started ther trp to Casablanca (tujajj JJ)' by Saud flght. In the flght they had, wth the delegaton of Medna Islamc Unversty Shekh Abdul Muhsn bn Abbad and Muhammad Gazzal, a bosom and famous frend of Abul Hasan Al Hasan, the dscusson on Islam and educaton. Then they reached Casablanca through Tarabols (o^'^j^). In Casablanca, Abul Hasan Al Hasan and Rabe Hasan spent one day. Then on 7 May, they went to Maknas and on 8 May, they went to Fas, a hstorcal cty that Abul Hasan Al Hasan compared wth Delh and Lucknow of Inda and Lahore and Multan of Pakstan. Ths cty has been nundated by the educatonal and Archtectural nundaton for 1200 years. The famous and old unversty of Islamc world Jamatul Qarwan (ojj^' ^-«-«^>-) s stuated n Fas. They vsted the lbrary of the unversty where they found more than 6000 rare books (mostly n manuscrpt form). On 10 May, they reached the Darul Sultatnat at Rabat and attended a three-day conference of Islamc Unverstes Federaton from 11'*' to 13"^ of May 1976 AD. Then on 15 May, they started ther trp to Morocco and on the way, stayng for a whle at Casablanca Abul Hasan Al Hasan and Rabe Hasan attended a meetng held by AUama Allal Fas. Thereafter they spent three days there. On the 18 May 1976 AD, Rabe Hasan Nadw along wth hs maternal uncle Abul Hasan Al Hasan Nadw returned to Inda.^ On May 1977 AD, Rabe Hasan Nadw started a trp to New York along wth hs maternal uncle Abul Hasan Al Hasan Nadw to attend a four-day Conference of Muslm Scholars Assocaton of Amerca and Canada.^ In the Conference wse men of many countres delvered valuable speeches on varous angles of educatonal development for Muslm students. On the other hand, The Vce-Presdent Nazr Uddn and the program drector Prof N. S. Ahmad and Irfan Ahmad Khan had already arranged some programs for them n varous places of Amerca whch wll be contnued for three weeks. In that trp to Amerca, Abul Hasan Al Hasan Nadw and Rabe Hasan Nadw almost vsted all the mportant ctes of North Amerca lke New York, Phladelpha, ' Ibd. 12 86 San Francsco, Baltmore, Boston, Chcago, Detrot, Salt Lake Cty and Las-Angelo (Calforna) and of Canada lke Montreal and Toronto where they went through many famous centers of archtecture and educaton/ths vst started n New York and fnshed n Chcago. Durng ths Journey Rabe Hasan Nadw also avaled the medcal facltes there because the eye-operaton of Abul Hasan Al Hasan Nadw was done at Phladelpha by Dr. Shee, a famous doctor of ophthalmology of Phladelpha Hosptal whle Rabe Hasan Nadw was hs care-taker. On July 1982, an Internatonal Islamc Semnar was held at Algera. The program was held at Tlemcen whch s 350 mles away from the Admnstratve Centre of Algera. Rabe Hasan Nadw was nvted to attend the Semnar. So he prepared an artcle on "j»*l-a jjl Jj-.j j»!^ ^^ k^ J AJJJ«J; juj" and submtted ths n the semnar. On 29 July 1982, he reached Algera by flght. Agan from Algera he boarded another flght for Tlemcen and reached postvely. On March, 1982 AD, Rabe Hasan Nadw vsted Sr Lanka whle the secretary general of World Islamc League Muhammad Al Harkan nvted Abul Hasan Al Hasan Nadw to vst Nazema Unversty whch s a great educatonal center of Sr Lanka. The nvtaton letter mentoned that the founder of ths educatonal center Al-Haj Muhammad Nazm and the Vce-Chancellor of the Unversty Dr. Muhammad Shukr wanted Abul Hasan Al Hasan Nadw to vst the center. In ths occason, Mohd. Rabe Hasan Nadw accompaned wth Abul Hasan Al Hasan Nadw, vsted Sr Lanka. In 1988 AD (1409 AH), a three-day educatonal conference, 7'^ 8"" and 9'^of October (25'^ 26"^ and 27"^ of Safr), was held by the Indan branch of World Islamc Lterary League on the topc "Panegyrcal or Encomastc Poetry" at Aurangabad. In 1985 AD, Rabe Hasan Nadw was selected the Secretary General of the League. So n the semnar Rabe Hasan Nadw submtted the report dscussng about the actvtes performed by the League durng hs perod of last three years. Hs lecture and report were well accepted by the people and t became unque of all the reports ever subrrtted by the former concerned personaltes. In November 1988 AD, a two-day meetng, 24"^ and 25'^ of November, was held by the Trustees of World Islamc League at Medna. In ths meetng Rabe Hasan Nadw along wth other trustees from the dfferent countres of the world elaborately dscussed the ams and objectves of the League. It s necessary to menton here that nformaton what 1 have collected n ths regard s from very rare and scattered sources. I have not

87 found the detals of the objectves those were dscussed n that meetng. So I do not gve here the detals of the objectves of the League dscussed n that meetng. Agan n 1989 AD, a fve days (12 to 16 Aug) Internatonal Conference of World Islamc Lterary League was held at Constantnople (Turkey). The man agenda of the Conference was "Islamc Lterature for the Chldren". A great number of lterary personaltes from the dfferent comers of the world joned the conference. From Inda the mportant fgure of the League Rabe Hasan Nadw along wth some others also joned the conference. He submtted hs paper on the need and necessty of Islamc Lterature for chldren. Durng hs stay at Constantnople the tdngs came to Abul Hasan Al Hasan Nadw that the Trustees' Board of Oxford Islamc Centre would hold a meetng at London on 23^'' Aug 1989 AD. So from Constantnople Rabe Hasan started for London along wth Abul Hasan Al Hasan Nadw and thus joned the meetng. On 7"^ Oct AD (6"" of Rab-I, 1410AH) Rabe Hasan Nadw, beng Secretary General of World Islamc League of Inda, he vsted Hyderabad where a three-day Conference 7'^ 8"" and 9"" October 1989 AD, was held. In the Conference, Rabe Nadw submtted the secretarat report and adopted some specal objectves for the development of Islamc Lterature. On 23^'' January, 1990 AD, Rabe Hasan Nadw along wth hs maternal uncle Abul Hasan Al Hasan Nadw, had started ther trp to Hejaz to attend the meetng of the Executve body of World Islamc League whch was to be held on 27' January (29' Jamada-II, 1410 AH). So Rabe Nadw joned the Conference postvely and met wth learned personaltes of the World that helped much n enlargng the knowledge. Very next to that, n the last week of August, 1990 AD, there were arranged three trps to Afrca, Europe and Asa. Frst trp was to Casablanca where a meetng of World Islamc League was held and Abul Hasan Al Hasan Nadw and Rabe Nadw were nvted to attend the meetng. So Rabe Hasan Nadw along wth hs uncle Abul Hasan Al Hasan Nadw attended the meetng postvely. They went to England to attend the meetng of 29'^ 30'" and 31" Aug 1990 AD at Oxford Islamc Center. So Rabe Hasan Nadw beng the founder member of the Center attended the meetng and shared hs auspcous consent for llumnatng and spreadng the Islamc Educaton to people at large. ^^j dhj^ by Maulana Muhammad Abul Hasan 'Al Hasan Nadw, Vol-V. 14 To conclude t s to menton that Rabe Hasan Nadw vsted USA, UK, Pakstan, Syra, Egypt, Iraq, Iran, Japan, Morocco, Malaysa, Egypt, Tunsa, Algera, Uzbekstan, Turkey, South Afrca and many of Arab, European and Afrcan countres. The materal for ths purpose s very rare. It s not possble dscuss all hs trps n detal by a sngle research work. It needs more research works. Rabe Hasan Nadw made almost all hs trps to the foregn countres along wth hs maternal uncle Abul Hasan Al Hasan Nadw. It s also found that sometmes he started the trp to take drect share as an nvted guest n varous natonal and nternatonal meetngs and conferences and sometmes he was requested to accompany Abul Hasan Al Hasan Nadw. But after the death of Abul Hasan Al Hasan Nadw, Rabe Hasan Nadw has been occupyng the same status that had been beng mantaned Abul Hasan Al Hasan Nadw. &&&&&&&&&&&&

CHAPTER- 2(e) Personalty: Wrter and Thnker Muhammad Rabe Hasan Nadw s engaged n many natonal and nternatonal organsatons. Ths s because of hs unque personalty n dfferent spheres of human lfe. Especally he occupes a unque status n the feld of Arabc-Islamc educaton. He occupes dfferent portfolos n dfferent natonal and nternatonal Arabc-Islamc organsatons and educatonal nsttutons. These are as follows: In Inda, he s > The Presdent of Islamc Research and Publcaton Councl, Lucknow. > The Presdent of Relgous Educaton Councl, U.P. > The Presdent of Dar-e-'Arafat Academy, Rae-barel. > The Presdent of Majls-e-Sahafat-o-Nasharyat, Darul Uloom Nadwatul Ulama, Lucknow. > The Presdent of Deen Taleem Councl, Uttar Pradesh > The Executve Member of Darul Musannfn Academy, Azamgarh. > The Executve Member of Maulana Azad Academy, Lucknow. > Member of the Algarh Muslm Unversty Court, the supreme governng body of the Unversty. > The Patron of Payam-e-Insanyat. > The Patron of Islamc Fqh Academy (Inda) In foregn countres, he s > The Trustee of Oxford Centre for Islamc Studes, Oxford Unversty, U.K. > The Vce Presdent of the Aalam Rabta Adab-e-Islam, Ryadh (K.S.A.) > The Vce-presdent of World Islamc League. > The Presdent of the Branch of World Islamc League for the sub-contnent Inda. > Founder Member of Rabta Aalam-e-Islam, Makka Mukarrmah. > Member of Internatonal Islamc Unversty, Chttagong and so on. Now I would lke to menton here that t became too hard for me to collect al the nformaton regardng the above-mentoned chars. I have found only some scarce and concrete nformaton for purpose.

90 He always keeps hmself busy n hs lfe mantanng varous organzatonal and non-organzatonal actvtes. He also attends the meetng of varous natonal and nternatonal organsatons. Rabe Hasan Nadw thus spends a bee-busy lfe. In spte of ths, he has wrtten a very good number of books n both Arabc and Urdu language. Many Arabc-Islamc nsttutes have ncluded some of hs. books n the syllab. Some of hs mportant wrtngs are: > j^\ju>l\ \^\j J Ijj j>- :AA-:UV A.xV <-J3 (Qmah al-ummah al-islamah: Munjazatuha wa Waq'uha al-mu'asr) > (j^ua^j AajjoJ ^^ CS^MA (Muqalat f al-tarbyah wa al-mujtama) > jxjj ^^ <Ll ^j»jjl^ '.LS'^J^^ J>JI (Al-Gazl al-urdy : Muhawarahu wa Makanatuhu f al-she'r): > ^':L.y\j^^\ :^j^\ ^JVI j^j^ (Tarkh al-adab al-'arab : al-'asr al- Islam) > <^j*l\ (_jj (ja cjjj!- (Manthurat mn al-adab al-'arab) > jjj o^jc- ojj ^j*^' SJ-^V' (Al-Adab al-'arab Byna 'Ardn wa Naqdn): > ka'yuj^\ CJLU^UASI AJL-J (Rsalah al-munasabat al-lslamyah) > ^'y^y\ M^V Jo ^\j^\ (Adhwa 'ala al-adab al-islam) > ^j\^\ ^uy\ t>j J (F Watan al-imam al-bukhar) > JjL.j UL :^ja\ ^^'::XJ^\ ^JU (Al-'Alam al-islam al-yaum : Qadhaya wa Hulul) > j^\ J!ll J (F Zlal al-srah): Some of hs Urdu books are: > Jazratul 'Arab. > Halat-e-Hadrah aur Musalman. > Ummat-e-Muslmah: Rahbar aur Mthal Ummat, Madh wa Hal ke Ayna Me. > Maulana Sayed Abul Hasan 'AH Nadw: 'Ahd-e-Saz Shakhsyat, Mushahdat aur Tajrabat k Rushn Me. > Srajan Munra, Rahbar-e-Insanyat (peace be upon hm). > Gubar-e-Karwan. > Samarqand wa Bukhara k Bazyaft. > Tuhfa-e-Ramdhan and so on.

91 The detals of these books are gven n the partcular forth-comng chapter. He also wrtes n newspapers and magaznes. Especally he s the edtor of 'Al-Rad' an Arabc magazne fortnghtly. Rabe Hasan Nadw keeps hs sght open to not only a partcular area or country rather throughout the whole World. Hs worldwde thnkng dscloses well through hs varous types of soco-educatonal wrtngs. Ths s understood well by readng hs books. For example, dscussng about the mportance of educatonal value n the socal lfe, he says that the educatonal system has three wngs whch are very mportant to be adopted at the top most level for all-angular soco-cultural development. These three wngs are: a) f'^^ J^ u^^' J tjxjxj (The teachers and the responsble personaltes of educaton.) b)»-jl> J»jl*j jrl«- (The system of educaton and the method of mplementaton.) c) M^Ual (The students.)' Hs practcal thnkng enabled hm to wrte a good number of books n Arabc except Urdu. In the yore, the scholars thought only the study of the Holy Quran, Hadth and pagan lterature. But n modern era, t s not enough for learnng Arabc Language and Lterature n ts real status. Rabe Hasan, thnkng so, wrote a book " M-^' > ^hj^ ^jxl". Ths book s also ncluded n the varous syllabuses of many educatonal nsttutons. He has wrtten some auspcous books n the feld of Arabc lterature lke " s^-v ^^!^y>-a»-l '-^y^^ SJ-^VI", ""-Jj*^' s-"-^' t> CJIJJILO" etc. Mohd. Rabe Hasdan Nadw, as a thnker, expresses hs opnon n varous natonal and nternatonal ssues. Hs opnons n such cases are meda magnetc. After the bloodshed n Gujarat, Mohd. Rabe Hasan Nadw was asked by the meda to express hs vew on the bloodshed and ant-mnorty statements made by Mod and some other Hndu Communal leaders. Rabe Hasan repled, "Ther statements greatly njure the feelngs of Muslms; rather they are nfuratng. However, thnkng that such statements are not made by serous and sane persons, there s no need to reply but the cruelty and barbarsm beng perpetrated on Muslms docs mert attenton. It s however a 2-«=^ J Au^j ^ ^V. by Muhammad Rabe Hasan Nadw (j^ -^X.71,^1 j-^ 2004 AD) P-51

92 matter of satsfacton that our Hndu brethren are themselves takng note of ther actvtes and statements. They are strongly crtczng and condemnng whatever happened n Gujarat. I thnk that under the crcumstances ths s suffcent and worth consderaton. Muslm leaders are keepng these thngs n mnd and they wll do whatever they deem ft n accordance wth legal and consttutonal means and ther own capabltes. Presently, dfferent commttees and nsttutons of Muslms are workng n ther respectve felds for assstng the uprooted people. Responsble people are also tourng dfferent places and nvestgatons are beng made nto cases of cruelty and barbarsm wth a vew to brngng these thngs to the notce of government and also to fle cases n courts, f so needed."' He also added whle thnkng of the affect of ths bloodshed ncdent to the greater natonal nterest that people who ndulged n bloodshed on the bass of relgon and communty n Gujarat dd not, as a matter of fact, harm only one secton of the country. They have rather weakened the country and tarnshed the mage of the country abroad. The economy of the state has suffered enormously. In addton to negatng the rghts and prvleges granted by the Consttuton of Inda to the mnortes, these ncdents are also aganst the centures-old tradtons of tolerance and communal harmony. Such atttude s even aganst the prncples of Hndusm. In ths country, relgous dfferences have always been seen from a pleasant angle that celebrates dversty and because of ths very reason Indan natonal leaders had opposed the demand for a separate country by the name of Pakstan. If Inda tself now transforms ts relgous dversty nto mutual enmty, t n fact spreads the poson of mutual hatred and enmty among ts people, whch wll enormously harm the soldarty and stablty of ths country.
