Oh gentlefolk, do you and you Who toil for daily hire, Consider that the job you do Is to your heart s desire? Twice happy man whose job is joy, Whose hand and heart combine, In brave and excellent employ As radiantly as mine! Service ( ) BEREAVEMENT SUPPORT GROUP FOR PARENTS A need has been identified in our parish for a Bereavement Support Group for Parents whose child has died. This group will be meeting on Monday evenings from 7-8:30, starting September 10, in the Office Conference Room. If you are interested in being a part of this group, please get in touch with Christine Empey (Home phone ; cell ). Be prepared to give her your name, phone number and e- mail address. FAMILY MASS Thank you to the families and classes that participated in the family Masses this year. The family Mass invites children, individuals, whole or mixed families, to take an active role in the Mass. No previous experience necessary. The Family Masses are celebrated at the 9:00am Mass on the first Sunday of the month, from October to June. 4 Holy Innocents Youth Ministry is directed by Youth Minister, Tom Conaty. Youth Ministry consists of our Youth Group and the CYO Basketball program. To join Youth Group, teens should just show up at any meeting and sign in with the youth leaders. ALL 9th-12th graders are welcome. The YG s main focus is on service and social justice. We meet most 6:15pm. We have youth Masses the first Sunday of each month (Starting in Oct). The CYO Basketball Program consists of K-2 Clinics as well as teams from 3rd-12th grades. When we have enough adult volunteers we will also run a CYO track and field program. We chose this hymn because the first line of its refrain seems appropriate as we celebrate this Labor Day weekend. Come to me, all who labor and are heavy burdened, and I shall give you rest. Gregory Norbet began his musical journey early in life, his family sang together for fun around his grandfather s piano. He remembers music for his family was an expression of happiness and togetherness, bringing light and joy into everyday life. Through his formative years, music remained a part of Gregory s life with church choir, high school chorus and college chorus. Then in 1962 at the age of 21, Gregory entered religious life. He became a Benedictine monk in the Weston Priory community in Weston, Vermont founded in The Priory is within the confines of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Burlington, which encompasses the entirety of Vermont. They are known for the songs they have contributed to Roman Catholic worship over the past 50 years, and while there, Gregory Norbet was their choir director. His work at first was teaching and reviewing chants and pieces in Latin, but soon after Vatican Council II, Gregory began writing new music, taking themes from the words of Jesus. His compositions include All I Ask of You, Hosea, Wherever You Go, Peace and The Lord Jesus, plus many more. Gregory is a graduate of the Institute for Spiritual Leadership in Chicago and received his Master s degree from the Institute of Pastoral Studies at Loyola University, Chicago. After 21 years as a Benedictine monk, Gregory left religious life and founded the Hosea Foundation, a non-profit ministry dedicated to fostering the experience of God s love and compassion in the world by promoting spiritual development. He currently lives with his wife, artist Kathryn Carrington, in Hanover, New Hampshire. This year, Labor Day, Monday, September 3 rd, is also the Feast of St. Gregory the Great. Among his many accomplishments as scholar and pope, he is also known as one of the earliest musicians of the church. Gregorian Chant is named for him. The church honors St. Gregory the Great as a patron of musicians and singers. We wish you all a very happy and relaxing Labor Day weekend, and we wish a happy feast day to Gregory Norbet, who has provided so much beautiful music for our liturgies, and to Fr.
