1 Exploring the Future Fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time January 31, 2016
2 Dearest Friends and Parishioners, National Catholic Schools Week is the annual celebration of Catholic education in the United States. It starts the last Sunday in January and runs all week, January 31 February 6. The theme for National Catholic Schools Week 2016 is Catholic Schools: Communities of Faith, Knowledge and Service. Catholic Schools can be as diverse as the students they serve! Catholic schools epitomize the parable of Many Parts, All One Body each one offering the love of Christ and a beautiful Catholic education to our children, but each one also having its own unique gifts to offer. St. Theresa Catholic Church is truly an All Are Welcome Catholic community in which people feel welcomed and connected to each other. It s a community feeling that I adore, one which is also embedded within our school community. We are family, and we work hard together with our parents to make the future brighter for our children. In the near future we see our students intrinsically connected to global learning in the digital world through the integration of 1:1 computers in elementary and middle school. The future embraces differentiated instruction and lifelong learning through an expanded Learning Resource Center to meet the needs of all our students, and a dedicated Professional Development Plan to support the growth and development of our faculty. The future promises a strategic effort to align the realization of these goals with fiscal responsibility, outlined within a detailed five year Financial Plan which encompasses all cost areas including: Annual Operational Budget, Advancement Plan (including Enrollment Management), Professional Development Plan, Technology Plan, and the Strategic Plan. The future explores the feasibility of additional classrooms in a new school building to meet the needs of growing enrollment. Most importantly, the future calls us to be greater witnesses to Christ s love and to reveal the love of Christ to all our students by deepening their understanding of their faith, fostering their commitment to service and creating more opportunities for our students to develop an intrinsic connection and commitment to parish life. We look forward to the future with great excitement and anticipation as we strive toward these goals, united as one faithful community in Christ. We want to offer each of you our heartfelt gratitude for your support as parishioners, through your volunteerism and donations, but most importantly through your prayers. We are so thankful for being part of this All Are Welcome community with YOU! Wishing you many Blessings, Melissa Ilski Principal, St. Theresa Catholic School

6 Fr. Bill Pickard Scholarship Fund St. Theresa Catholic School would like to extend our profound gratitude to the generosity and benevolence of Fr. Bill Pickard. He was the parochial vicar at St. Theresa from and was loved by many. He lived life with joy and loved to sing, often breaking out in song during his homilies. He was a passionate supporter of Catholic education and was especially fond of St. Theresa School. Fr. Bill had a genuine love for our students as demonstrated when he began (and personally contributed to) The Father Bill Pickard Scholarship Fund to support tuition assistance for students in financial need. Over the last several years, The Father Bill Pickard Scholarship Fund has granted more than $31,000 to families in need, who truly wanted to give their child/ren a Catholic education at St. Theresa. If you are interested in contributing to the Father Bill Pickard Scholarship Fund, please contact Cherie Hernandez at c.hernandez@sttheresa.cc 8th Grade Taco and Bake Sale On February 6 and 7, St. Theresa s 8th Grade will be hosting a breakfast taco and baked goods fundraiser to support their upcoming 2016 Washington trip.
