5 Stewardship and the Meaning to Us We have been in our church budgeting season, the time we look forward with our vision, and ask our committee chairs and key people what tools they need to succeed at helping our church succeed. And as we move forward with our compelling mission, it is this process that we not only look to see what resources and tools we need to execute our mission, but we also look to put our money where our mouth is and we maneuver funding around to various aspects of our budget to help execute our vision and mission of bringing heaven to earth in all that we do, through fostering faith, cultivating kids, connecting community, and serving the world. Now if we sit back and reflect on that mission, that is a very ambitious mission, and we all want to a be a part of something very big, very special, and a greater being and purpose. To do so, we look to fund the appropriate places in the budget to help carry out that mission, otherwise if we don t, we can t do the work to accomplish our mission. The definition of stewardship is the job of supervising or taking care of something, such as an organization or a property. Now, we all hold our own personal definition of stewardship, and what that acts and looks like. But we can all agree to the basic definition, and that it also means we are looking to help maintain, sustain, grow and nourish our common good and necessary need of the Great Bend First Christian Church beyond our time here on earth. We all may not want or have the same idea or opinion of how we leave a legacy, but we all hope and pray that the ultimate good and purpose of our wonderful church and the wonderful people that make up our outstanding organization continues on in perpetuity with a high level of greatness and a heartbeat of greater purpose each and every day. Giving to help us achieve this greater purpose of beyond us for the long vision of time is of great importance, and has never been needed in titanic proportions such as now. Our world needs churches with purpose. But more importantly, the Golden Belt region needs churches with greater purpose to help mold and continue to shape our community and surrounding communities. We don t just ask you to give, we ask you to give with your heart. We ask you to give to our church with purpose. There is no greater purpose to give than to our church and bringing Heaven to Earth in all that we do. Lastly, the Lindberg Family gives great thanks for you all allowing me to serve as your board chair for the last 3 years! It has been a tremendous blessing to our Family! Much Gratitude, Nels If you have not turned in your pledge card, please do so ASAP. The due date was October 31st. Please pray about what God would want you to give and fill out the pledge card. You may bring it to church and put it in the offering plate, drop it off at the church office, or mail it to the church office. Thank you!

Josh, for your hospital and home visits during my recent heart surgery. Also, I appreciate all the cards, visits and support, encouragement and prayers from this caring congregation. Thank you all! Arlyn Scheuerman Thank you to everyone in the church for your cards and prayers for my recovery following my left knee replacement surgery. My speedy recovery is due to all your prayers and support. Special thanks to Reverend Josh for the daily hospital visits. Janis Fairchild COLLEGE FINALS BOXES It will soon be time to send finals boxes to our college students during finals week. Food and monetary donations will be accepted until November 26th. Parents if you have a child away at college, new or established, please give the church office their name and address, Names submitted will receive a finals box. Thank you! The name of our new service is "The Refuge, the idea being that we want to create a service where people can come and find refuge from the stress and difficulty of life so they can be inspired to live extraordinary lives for Christ. Right now, everything is on schedule with the renovations beginning in mid October and ending before Thanksgiving. We want to encourage you to come and check out the progress as we move forward. For those of you who are curious, our plan is to have at least one evening service sometime in December to give the whole congregation a chance to come and experience it for yourself. Our new worship leaders, E.J. and Amanda Shepherd, will be coming onboard sometime in November to begin to get everything ready. Please continue to pray that God will use this service to reach out to even more people for Christ, people who will join us in our vision of Bringing Heaven to Earth in all that we do.
