2 3 Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain." - Psalm 127:1 As you may recall, in May 2014, the congregation elected a property negotiating team of Bob West, Micky Severson, Cary Dorman, and John Little to find and negotiate the best possible offer for our church property. In September of 2015, the congregation approved a contract to sell the church property with the intention of relocating to a yet-to-be-determined location. However, on February 1 of this year (the final day of the inspection period), the buyer canceled the contract. Nonetheless, negotiations have continued this spring and into the summer with other qualified buyers. Our ample square footage on the corner of Camp Bowie and Westridge is attractive to retail interests, and at the time of this writing, the negotiating team has received letters of inquiry from seven prospective buyers. As you might imagine, negotiating terms and "comparing apples to apples" with so many prospective buyers takes quite a bit of time, and I am personally grateful for the expertise and knowledge represented on our negotiating team. If and when the team has a new offer to present, the session will call a congregational meeting for such a purpose, giving ample notice of such a meeting in accordance with our bylaws. In the meantime, ministry and mission continues to the glory to God here at Ridglea. The church's financial position remains strong, and faithful volunteers continue to give of their time and talent to ensure that the building remains clean and functional. Please continue to pray that God's will might be revealed to us, and that we will have the discernment and courage to follow that will wherever it might lead us. Ryan s Lunch Bunch Meets most Thursdays at 11:30am at church to ponder the Narrative Lectionary Readings for the week. Bring your lunch and join in! We will equip you with training and a communion kit, you just need to provide a willing heart! Homebound Communion is usually served the first Sunday of each month. Sign up to provide the floral arrangement used in the worship service. You can honor or remember a loved one, celebrate a special occasion, or just provide some beauty for our worship space. 5 6 Mission Opportunities Patriot House Mission Enjoy food & fellowship with the veterans at the Patriot House, a transitional housing unit at the Presbyterian Night Shelter. Sign up to provide a part of the meal by using the bulletin board in the main hall. Join the crew to visit and eat! The bus leaves the church parking lot at 5:30 pm sharp! Please help us help others!! There are sign ups for sandwich makers and meal providers for the Presbyterian Night Shelter and the Patriot House in the main hallway by the office. 7 8 During the summer months, we have changed up the traditional Sunday school routine. The last couple of years we have spent a month in Art & Scripture. We start with scripture and explore what it means and how we apply it to our daily lives. Then, we respond to it with art! This summer has been focused on creating pieces of art for others. We truly have some talented artists- their creativity and honesty are truly gifts to us all! Check out some of their work in the preschool hallway. Some of you may just find an original art piece mailed to you this year with much hope created in love! 8

Under the Transition Committee there are 4 subcommittees. Your Session is looking for members at large to fill out these subcommittees. The Subcommittees are as follows. - Inventory Team: Handling the documentation of all assets within RPC and coordinate the storage as needed during transition to our new property - Building Team: Handling the entire build process; including management of architecture firm, period of performance for contractors, etc.; also overseeing the design of the new facility, both interior and exterior - Nesting Team: Coordination of the nesting facility in alignment with the building team timeline - Mission Team: Discerning the future mission of RPC and coordinating any design requirements that would need to be included in the new property with the building team 11

11 12 It s Wear your Name Tag Summer!! We re dusting off all those name tags that have been sitting on the racks for far too long!! Find yours and wear it this summer!! We may need them to learn (or recall) one another s names as the 8:30 and 11:00 a.m. congregations merge for one service at 10:00 a.m. in July and August! If you need a new one or can t remember which rack you left your old one on, contact Patricia Taber or Susan Maxwell about having a new one made. 12
