1 RIDGLEA PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH 6201 Camp Bowie Blvd., Fort Worth, TX (817) January 2017 New Year s Day Service Chapel 11:00 am Session Meeting January 26, 2017 Annual Congregational Meeting January 29, 2017 Following Fellowship Luncheon
2 3 January is often a season of new beginnings, and and at Ridglea Presbyterian Church, we have many new beginnings to celebrate, including a new series of sermons from the Gospel According to Luke. From now through Easter (April 16), we will be following Luke s gospel in our Sunday worship. We won t be taking it verse by verse, but we ll be hitting some of the major stories and developing the major themes. If you re looking for some new winter reading material, I suggest reading through Luke s gospel. It s just 24 chapters, and Like writes with a detailed style that many readers find appealing. If you d like to read ahead in preparation for Sunday worship, find below the readings from Like that we will be tackling this winter from the pulpit. January 8 - Jesus Baptism - Luke 3:1-22 January 15 - Sermon at Nazareth - Luke 4:14-30 January 22 - Fish for People - Luke 5:1-11 January 29 - Healing on the Sabbath Luke 6:1-16 February 5 - Raising the Widow s Son - Luke 7:1-17 February 12 - Are You the One? - Luke 7:18-35 February 19 - Forgiven at Jesus Feet - Luke 7:36-50 February 26 - Transfiguration - Luke 9:28-45 March 1 (Ash Wednesday) - Jesus Turns to Jerusalem - Luke 9:51-62 March 5 - Good Samaritan - Luke 10:25-42 March 12 - Lament Over Jerusalem - Luke 13:1-9, March 19 - Lost Sheep, Coin, Son - Luke 15:1-32 March 26 - Rich Man and Lazarus - Luke 16:19-31 April 2 - Zaccheus - Luke 18:31-19:10 April 9 (Palm Sunday) - Triumphal Entry - Luke 19:29-44 April 13 (Maundy Thursday) - Luke 22:1-27 April 14 (Good Friday) - Luke 23:32-47 April 16 (Easter) - Luke 24:1-12 Happy New Year! May God bless you and keep you, The Session of Ridglea Presbyterian Church See you in church! Peace, Ryan 3

8 9 Presbyterian Women January, 2017 Our friends and favorite musical group, The Funky Town All Stars, helped us to celebrate Christmas in style. We were entertained with a mix of Christmas carols sprinkled in among selections of Beatles, Baroque and Duke Ellington. Our favorite, The Little Drummer Boy had all four musicians playing one bass (at the same time!). We added an outstanding rum-pa-pum-pum! Lynne lead us in some holiday games. Then we settled down to enjoy good food and fellowship. It was wonderful to have some guests and always a joy when pastors and staff join us. We look forward to January 24 when our presentation will be from G.A.L.S. God s Amazing Love Storyteller. Mark your calendars. Circles are eager to continue our Who Is Jesus bible study.
