We want to engage Lubbock and West Texas in the arenas of proclaiming truth, contributing to and renewing culture, and practicing mercy with justice. We will seek to plant a closelynetworked series of medium-sized churches that will reflect both the city of Lubbock and the heavenly city to come.

Answer: That I belong - body and soul, in life and in death not to myself but to my faithful Savior, Jesus Christ, Who at the cost of His own blood has fully paid for all my sins and has completely freed me from the dominion of the devil; that He protects me so well that without the will of my Father in heaven not a hair can fall from my head indeed, that everything must fit His purpose for my salvation. 6 SERMON Matthew 9:9-13 Jesus Calls Matthew 9 As Jesus passed on from there, he saw a man called Matthew sitting at the tax booth, and he said to him, Follow me. And he rose and followed him. 10 And as Jesus reclined at table in the house, behold, many tax collectors and sinners came and were reclining with Jesus and his 11 disciples. And when the Pharisees saw this, they said to his disciples, Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and 12 sinners? But when he heard it, he said, Those who are well 13 have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. Go and learn what this means, I desire mercy, and not sacrifice. January 8: Sunday School Resumes - Church Fellowship Lunch Sunday School classes will resume next Sunday, January 8. Congregational Meeting, January 29 After the worship service on Sunday, January 29, we will hold a congregational meeting to discuss and vote upon our 2012 budget. On January 12, the elders will approve a proposed budget which will be available for the congregation along with a cover letter by January 22. Please access these documents on our website (PPC Community > Documents >Budget), and read them in preparation for the meeting. (Contact Pastor Jim for hard copies of these documents, if you would prefer.) There will be significant additions to the 2012 budget versus previous years, so members should make every effort to come. Anyone is welcome to attend the meeting Porterbrook Learning in Lubbock Pastor Jim will be the leader of the Lubbock cohort of a two-year theological enrichment curriculum called Porterbrook Learning. This study course originates in England but is offered in different cities across the nation; Redeemer Church in Lubbock will be hosting Porterbrook s local affiliate. The Lubbock cohort will begin in January and will entail a monthly evening meeting for teaching and discussion, plus additional readings and graded assignments. 10 Sermon Notes Prayers of Meditation For Those Not Participating in Communion Prayer for Those Searching for Truth Lord Jesus, You claim to be the way, the truth, and the life. Grant that I might be undaunted by the cost of following You as I consider the reasons for doing so. If what You claim is true, please guide me, teach me, and show me the reality of who You are. Amen. Prayer of Belief Heavenly Father, I admit that I am more sinful than I ever before believed, but, through Your Son Jesus, I can be more loved and accepted than I ever dared hope. I thank You that He lived the life I should have lived, and paid the debt and punishment I deserved. Receive me now for His sake. I turn from my sins and receive Jesus to be my Lord and Savior. Amen. Prayer for Those Struggling with Sin Lord Jesus, help me to look to You as the fulfillment of all my needs, and to turn from every false satisfaction to feed on You, the true and living bread. Enable me to lay aside the sin that clings so closely, and run with perseverance the race set before me, looking to You, the pioneer and perfecter of my faith. Amen. Prayer of Commitment Lord Jesus, You have called us to follow You in a life of committed discipleship in Your church.
