Neely, Pastor Kathleen Williams, Director of Christian Education Karrie Rushing, Director of Music Steve Prevatte, Assistant to the Pastor Brian Dilday, Youth Director Brad Collier, Organist Deborah Durham, Office Administrator Janice Gray, Administrative Assistant Terrence Clemons, Sexton LABEL PASTOR S WORD Dear Brothers and Sisters, May in the Presbyterian Church (USA) is Wills Emphasis Month. Our denomination designates this month each year to encourage members to write a will and as part of that process to include their church in the will. Over the years, First Presbyterian Church has benefited from members who have included the church in the settlement of their estates. Our congregation benefits annually from endowments created as a result of bequests from some of our faithful members. We worship in a newly renovated sanctuary with a magnificent pipe organ because of the bequest of Mary Sorensen. Her gift continues to give annually to the maintenance of our building because of the endowment established in her name. We have resources for helping with medical mission trips because of the generosity of Betty Berryhill and the endowment she left for medical missions. Just before his death, Fred Webb and his wife, Nell, established an endowment for the benefit of our church. After the death of Harding Sugg, Sr., his family established a scholarship endowment in memory of Anna Belle and Harding Sugg, and each year a student from our congregation benefits from this lasting gift. It has long been my belief that if members of the church would simply leave a tithe of their estates to the continuing work of Christ in their community, their mission and ministry would continue long past their lives. Because we so firmly believe in this principle, Wanda and I have included the congregations we have served in our will. I challenge each of you to examine your will and how your estate will be divided and to prayerfully consider including the church as a part of those who will benefit from your life s work. Bill
