2 March 13, 2016 Fifth Sunday in Lent 10:00 am: Pastor Josh Tuininga (*please stand if able) Welcome and Announcements God Calls Us to Worship *Call to Worship (adapted from Heb. 12:1-3) Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. We worship you, Lord. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. We worship you, Lord. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. God Reconciles Us to Himself Call to Confession (adapted from Heb. 4:14-16) When we confess our sins, we do so in recognition that Jesus has already sacrificed and made forgiveness available to us. Hebrews 4 says, Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are yet he did not sin. Let us then approach God s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. 3 Call to Holy Living (Heb. 10:19, 23-25) Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus... let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another and all the more as you see the Day approaching. May God bless your celebrations. FAMILY CIRCLE: Continue to pray for strength, peace, and complete healing for Deb Vandendool and Barb Perkin as they continue with their treatments. Pray for all of our seniors, those who suffer illnesses and those who are lonely or shut-in. May they feel God s presence in their lives and may He bring healing. YOUNG PEOPLES: We will not be meeting this week because it is March Break. The next time we get together will be Thursday, March 24th to prepare for our Good Friday Brunch Fundraiser. Please be at the church by 7:00 that evening to set up tables and chairs and chop potatoes. You'll be receiving a text message with any items we need you to bring that night. (If Tara does not have your phone number please let her know what it is by texting her at ) If you are still interested in signing up for Convention it isn't too late! The price will increase again on April 15. Have a fun and relaxing March Break! VBS: VBS preparations have begun. We will not be painting this week March 15 but will meet again on March 22 beginning at 9:30 until 2:30pm. Even if you can only come for an hour or two, any help painting is greatly appreciated. Thank-You!! Upcoming Young People Fundraiser: Everyone is welcome to join us after church on Good Friday for brunch. Cost is on a donation basis and the funds raised will help to offset the cost of all the youth we have who are attending the All Ontario Convention. Volunteers Needed: This year we have a number of youth who will be attending the All Ontario Youth Convention in Waterloo. We are looking for one two people who are at least 18 years old and are willing to drive and / or stay for the weekend as a small group leader. 6 Holy Week Services: The Holy Week Services are Monday, March 21 to Thursday, March 24 at Bethel Pentecostal Church. The services begin at 12:10pm and conclude at 12:30pm, with a light lunch to follow each service. The speakers for the week are Mon., March 21 Pastor Chuck Wilson, Tues., March 22 Pastor Josh, Wed., March 23 Pastor Rob Browning, Thurs., March 24 Pastor Doug Cameron. All are welcome. SPRING BAZAAR! Please join us for an evening of good food and fun at our Spring Bazaar on Friday, April 1 at the Wallaceburg Christian Reformed Church, 150 Bruinsma Ave. There will be craft tables, bake tables, fun games for adults and children, a silent auction, delicious homemade food and a live auction. Doors open at 4 pm, food is served from 4:30-7:00 pm, and our live auction begins at 7 pm sharp. Admission is free. All money raised from the evening goes to support Wallaceburg Christian School. Since April,2012,we have supported Janneth,an eleven year old girl from Equator through Compassion Canada.This Friday,we ll hear more about the work of Compassion in releasing children from poverty in Jesus Name. Everyone is welcome and also bring a friend or neighbour to enjoy a great time of fellowship and singing. THANK-YOU from Operation Christmas Child: Thank-You to all those who were able to participate in Operation Christmas Child. Because of your prayers and partnership, the lives of many children will be changed. In 2015, over 11 million gift-filled shoeboxes were collected worldwide. 730,577 gift-filled shoeboxes were packed in Canada. 282,560 gift filled shoeboxes were packed in Ontario. 3,233 gift-filled shoeboxes were packed in Chatham-Kent. The children were also invited to participate in The Greatest Journey discipleship program. Continue to pray that all will go well in this great endeavour. Thank-You! Thanks! 6 Wallaceburg Christian School: As part of our Spring Bazaar, we are having a fun contest of donating money to shave or NOT to shave Pastor Josh Tuininga s head, and whether or not to colour Chair Jim Kraayenbrink s hair bright pink. Special Needs SERVE July 8-14, 2016 OTTAWA, ON - Mentors Needed - We are seeking youth and young adults who would like to walk alongside a participant who has a special need. Your help is needed to encourage the participants in all areas of their journey. We look forward to some great work sites, worship, and sight seeing!
