Following the meet against Centenary, the Aggies will take on Kent State at home on Friday, Jan. 15, also at 7 p.m. TUNING IN: Friday s meet will be streamed live at utahstateaggies.tv and at no cost for fans. Additionally, live scores will be available at Links to both will be posted on the Utah State Athletics website on Friday. Fans can also follow the Utah State gymnastics social media outlets for meet updates. THE RANKINGS: Utah State is ranked 34th in the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches/Women Preseason Coaches Poll, which was released on Dec. 15. The Aggies earned 333 points and are one of three Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference Teams in the preseason poll. Other MRGC teams include: No. 19 Boise State (one first-place vote) and No. 24 Southern Utah. MRGC OUTLOOK: Utah State will be competing in the Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference (MRGC) for the third consecutive season. A year ago, the Aggies placed fourth (out of five) at the MRGC Championships with a team score of Seniors Miranda Kerr (vault) and McKinzey Martinez (all-around) both earned second-team all-conference honors a year ago. The MRGC will comprise of just four teams (USU, Boise State, BYU and Southern Utah) this season as Denver joined the Big 12 following the 2015 campaign. MRGC PREDICTIONS: In a preseason coaches poll, Utah State was picked to finish tied for third with BYU in the league. Each team garnered five points, while the Cougars garnered one first-place vote. Boise State was picked to finish first with eight points and a pair of first-place votes, followed by Southern Utah with six points and one first-place vote. BEAM 1. McKinzey Martinez - / * = 2016 Mark / = No official score ABOUT CENTENARY: The Ladies finished the 2015 season with a 1-20 overall record and placed sixth in the Midwest Independent Conference Championships with a team score of Centenary recorded 11 career-high marks at the conference meet, including a pair from Allison Scates and Ashley White, who are now in their junior and sophomore seasons, respectively. Scates and White were two of six Centenary gymnasts who received bids to the USA Gymnastics Collegiate National Championships, which were held April 10-12, 2015, at the University of Pennsylvania. That duo represented the Ladies in the all-around at the national championships. White, who also qualified as an alternate for the 2015 NCAA Regionals at Ohio State, recorded a career-high score of in the all-around and claimed five all-around crowns during her freshman campaign. Jackie Fain, the 2013 Midwest Independent Coach of the Year, is entering her fifth season at the helm of the Ladies gymnastics program. HISTORY AGAINST THE LADIES: Utah State is 3-0 all-time against Centenary, with all three meets taking place at a neutral site. The last meeting between the two teams was on Jan. 1

REMEMBERING 2015: For the first time since , Utah State competed in the NCAA Regionals in back-to-back years. The Aggies improved on their 2014 score by points, on their way to finishing fifth at the Berkeley Regional behind No. 10 Georgia, No. 3 Utah, No. 20 Cal and No. 15 Boise State. The Aggies finished ahead of BYU. Utah State hit its stride at the end of the regular season as the Aggies recorded two of the top four scores in school history. In a home meet against BYU, Utah State posted a , which is the thirdbest score in program history. Two days later, the Aggies put up a at Sacramento State, which ranks fourth on the all-time team score chart. For the second-consecutive season, Utah State recorded the top vault season average in school history, as the 2015 Aggies topped the average with a average. The success on vault was aided by recording three of the top-10 vault scores in the program s history. USU was led on vault by junior McKinzey Martinez, who averaged a 9.802, good for fourth-best in school history. Utah State also put up the fourth-best beam average in school history, a , aided by a season-high against BYU on Jan. 23. That score was good for the third-highest beam score in school history. The Aggies recorded the fourth-best floor average in school history, as well, averaging a , topping 2014 s average of Sarah Landes joined Meagan Lewis (2003) as the only two gymnasts to appear in the top 20 season average lists for all four events. Landes averaged a on vault (tied for 12th), a on bars (20th), a on beam (10th) and a on floor (12th). Utah State had 13 gymnasts honored for academic excellence by earning academic all-mrgc honors. WHAT THE AGGIES BRING BACK: Utah State welcomes back 11 letterwinners from last season in Charly Belliston, Jillian Chappel, JoAnna Cuba, Destiny Ezell, Miranda Kerr, McKinzey Martinez, Bailey McIntire, Melanie Oster, Keri Peel, Hayley Sanzotti and Michelle Yasukochi. Besides the 11 letterwinners, the Aggies also welcome back three gymnasts who were injured during the 2015 season in Katie Brown, Miranda Hone and Briel Muhlestein. LOCAL TALENT: Utah State has three student-athletes from the Beehive State on its roster in junior Charly Belliston (Magna), sophomore Briel Muhlestein (Salt Lake City) and newcomer Sarah Patterson (Hyrum), who is a freshman. ON A ROLL: Utah State has scored at least a in eight straight meets. During that stretch, the Aggies recorded two of their highest team scores in school history with a against BYU and a at Sacramento State. Those two scores rank third and fourth, respectively, in school history. TURNING MORE THAN JUST CARTWHEELS: Last season, 15 Aggies were honored as USU Joe E. and Elma Whitesides Scholar-Athletes. In order to be recognized as a Whitesides Scholar-Athlete, one must earn at least a 3.2 GPA during the last two semesters.
