The meet will mark Boise State s third of four trips this season to the Beehive State. AGAINST THE COUGARS Bronco gymnastics is currently on a 10-meet win streak against the BYU Cougars, but have dropped three-straight matchups against the Denver Pioneers. BYU (2-2, 1-1 MRGC) is coming off a season-high win against the SUU Thunderbirds. The Cougars scored season highs on bars and beam, posting a on each apparatus. Junior Eliane Kulczyk led the team with a on bars, while Makenzie Johnson recorded a on beam. AGAINST THE PIONEERS No. 19 Denver, (5-2, 1-0 MRGC) moved up one spot in the weekly GymInfo rankings. The Pioneers posted a score against No. 1 Oklahoma on Jan. 29. Denver is ranked in the top 25 on floor (eighth), vault (15th) and bars (25th). MT // SMITH FIELDHOUSE LIVE VIDEO LIVE RESULTS ALL-TIME SERIES HISTORY (STREAK) BYU (W 10) Denver (L 3) THE ASCENSION After the Broncos win against conference opponent Utah State ( ) and UC Davis ( ) on Friday, the Broncos bumped their average total score to to currently lead the Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference. Boise State ranks 15th in the weekly polls, moving down three spots from the previous week. The Broncos rank fourth in the West regional weekly rankings, sitting behind the Pac-12 s Oregon State, UCLA and Stanford. The Broncos also land inside the top 15 on three events as a team. Boise State averages a on vault through three meets, which ranks 10th in the national standings. The Blue and Orange are ranked ninth in the nation on uneven bars, maintaining a average for the second-straight week. On balance beam, Boise State ranks 11th nationally with a average CLUB Senior captain Ciera Perkins vaulted into the Bronco record books last Friday. The Las Vegas, Nev., native anchored the vault lineup. She recorded Boise State s first 10.0 in 19 years with her Yurchenko full, when Perkins was still a toddler. She is the fourth perfect gymnast in school history, and third on vault: (Julie Wagner, 1993; Leslie Mott, 1996). Perkins now ranks tied for 13th nationally on the event, averaging a through three meets. She s posted only the fifth perfect vault score this season. STUDY HABITS The women s gymnastics team posted an all-time semester record GPA of 3.75, the highest mark ever by a Bronco team for one semester. The previous record was 3.68 set by the women s golf team in the 2014 spring semester. RANKINGS The Broncos began the season ranked No. 19 in the preseason coaches poll. Boise State will face five opponents in the top 25, including No. 6 Utah, No. 20 Denver, No. 4 Alabama, No. 18 Ohio State and No. 14 California. Southern Utah, UC Davis, Utah State and BYU begin the season receiving votes. EARNING HONORS After Perkins 10.0 performance on vault in the trimeet versus Utah State and UC Davis, she was honored as the MRGC Specialist of the Week honors for the secondstraight week. 2 Southern Utah (Jan. 26). This is the third-straight week specialist honors went to the Broncos, as junior captain Maddie Krentz earned the accolade after her own career-best vault in the season opener. SHINE BRIGHT Krystine Jacobsen was on fire in the tri-meet versus Utah State and UC Davis this past Friday. The junior won both bars and beam titles for her fourth and fifth career-event wins. Jacobsen marked 9.90 s on each apparatus, which currently leads all Bronco marks this season. Jacobsen ranks 20th in the nation on bars, averaging a in the event. THE PURSUIT In their final season for the Broncos, senior duo Morris and Perkins are in pursuit of Boise State records. Perkins set the school record for floor wins in a single-season in 2014 with nine wins. Currently she ranks sixth all-time in career floor wins (10) and will break into the top five with one more win. Perkins also ranks seventh all-time for uneven bars career wins with nine, and after her 10.0 vault title, has seven career vault wins. Morris has nine career event wins at all around and marked her career-best score (39.500) at last year s MRGC championships. That score ranks 11th alltime in Bronco history. THE PRODUCERS Freshmen Ann Stockwell and Lianne Josbacher have risen to the occasion in their rookie seasons. Out of their combined 12 routines in 2015 to date, they have had 10 contribute to the team score. Stockwell has proven to be steadily consistent on vault, producing scores of or higher. Josbacher has excelled in her three events, namely on vault and balance beam. VOTED CAPTAINS Seniors Ciera Perkins and Kelsey Morris, along with junior Maddie Krentz were tapped as the captains. MAKING HISTORY Then-junior Ciera Perkins became the first Bronco gymnast to earn All-America honors on floor exercise in The Las Vegas native scored a 9.90 and tied for an eighth-place finish, good for second team All- America honors. Fellow teammate Kelsey Morris scored a on uneven bars at NCAA Championships, the best mark in school history on the national stage. The Broncos recorded 23 new career-best scores during the 2014 season. Morris led the charge with four new personal top marks (vault: 9.90; bars: 9.950; beam: 9.850; allaround: ). Ciera Perkins and Krystine Jacobsen both recorded three new personal bests. Perkins recorded on vault, bars and floor exercise, while Jacobsen marked 9.80 (vault); 9.90 (bars); (beam). RESTOCKED & RELOADED Perkins and Diana Mejia earned top conference honors after their standout seasons. Perkins was named the 2014 MRGC gymnast of the year, while Mejia was named MRGC Co- Freshman of the Year. The Blue and Orange return two conference champions: Perkins (UB, FX) and Morris (UB, AA), four MRGC First Team recipients: Perkins (V, UB, FX); Morris (UB, FX, AA); Krystine Jacobsen (UB); and Mejia (UB). Morris also earned MRGC second-team honors on balance beam. Five freshmen join the Bronco family this season. California natives Alex Esmerian and Ann Stockwell will compete allaround this season. Lianne Josbacher (V, BB, FX) hails from Shrewsbury, Mass., and rounding out the first years is Abby Webb, a Clarkston, Wash., native (Palouse Empire). Redshirt freshman and Peruvian elite gymnast Sandra Collantes will compete for the Broncos this year, after sitting out the 2014 season due to injury.
