A lot of people had fun the past few days at the annual Crestline Harvest Festival. The deep fried Oreos were excellent this year along with the music and fellowship. The festival reminds us that Fall is fast approaching. The leaves will change color and we might actually have to start wearing a light jacket. 2. We will celebrate the feast days of two big saints of our Catholic faith this week at the weekday Masses. Wednesday, September 21 is the feast day of St. Matthew, the Apostle. He went from a dishonest tax collector to an Apostle of Christ and the world has never been the same since. The Good News was spread by a few men inspired by the Holy Spirit and the world is richer for it. The feast day for St. Padre Pio is Friday, September 23. He died in 1968 so there is video of him having Mass, etc. He had the stigmata of Christ and the ability to read souls. I actually had Mass at the church he had Masses at in San Giovanni Rotondo. I was with a pilgrimage group from Findlay a few years back. My mom has a strong devotion to Padre Pio and so naturally I bought her a small Padre Pio statue for her when I was there. St. Matthew and St. Padre Pio, pray for us! 3. The next Holy Hour will be on Wednesday, October 5 at 7pm (St. Joseph Church). The theme we will be praying for is the upcoming November election. We all know that this is a very important election and all of us need to be praying for our country. Come before our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament and ask for His graces to change our country for the better. 4. We will be praying the rosary again at the gazebo in Crestline on Saturday October 8 at Noon. I hope to see a lot of you there. The rosary is a great weapon against the evil that exists in our world. 5. Reminder: I will be the spiritual director for the women s Cursillo weekend (at the Pines in Fremont), which begins on Thursday evening (October 13) and ends Sunday evening (October 16). Ladies of St. Joseph and Sacred Heart; this may be the opportunity you have been looking for to renew your Catholic faith! Contact myself or Karen Bonen if you are interested and we can give you more information. Fr. Ed Littelmann and Fr. Nick Weibl will be covering the Masses for me that weekend. The Thursday Mass will return to its regular time on October 21 (5:30pm Confessions/ 6:30pm Mass). 6. Once again I want to encourage parishioners to register online for our upcoming Bible Study- A Biblical Walk Through The Mass. This is an opportunity for you to understand the Mass better and love it even more. 7. Ending on a humorous note: My family had our annual Fantasy Football draft on Labor Day. I was able to get running backs Todd Gurley and LeVeon Bell! I felt I drafted a really strong team and that I could contend for a championship this year. But that good feeling took a big hit when my dad soundly defeated me in game one by a score of Todd Gurley only gave me five points. Well, I know that God still loves me no matter what so I have that going for me- which is nice! Thanks and God Bless!!! Fr. Chris
