6 Positions Vacant Greetings fair populace of Aneala! I trust you all had a merry festive s e a s o n a n d a r e l o o k i n g f o r w a r d t o t h e n e w y e a r. With midsummer approaching I am declaring my intention to step down from the office of Reeve at this event. I am therefore opening nominations for the position of Reeve of Aneala. In order to hand on the office at Midsummer, I will close nominations on the 8th of January. What's involved in being Reeve? Thankfully not very much during SCA event time. Outside of SCA time there is some minor book keeping and the following up of autocrat's for their financial reports. All reporting is now done through a simple EXCEL template so reports take very little time to generate. You are also expected to attend council monthly and advise on financial decisions made by the barony. Previous treasurer/reeve experience is not necessary although obviously a bonus. I will be more than happy to act as deputy reeve f o r a s l o n g a s yo u n e e d m e a f t e r yo u s t e p u p. If you are interested in the position please let me know as soon as p o s s i b l e v i a e m a i l. I n y o u r e m a i l p l e a s e i n c l u d e : - A statement indicating your interest in the position - A s t a t e m e n t o f y o u r e x p e r i e n c e i n t h e S C A - A s t a t e m e n t o f a n y r e l e vant m u n d a n e e x p e r i e n c e. Please also feel free to contact me to chat further about what is involved. The office of Reeve is not difficult and you get to wear, in my opinion, the snazziest of the officers medallions! Also you will be privy to the inner financial workings of the barony and it's a relatively non-threatening way to get involved in the operations of the barony and learn more about what makes the SCA tick. Herr Bechtold Voleric, Reeve Aneala
7 A Missive from The Acting Crux Greetings all, I would just like to reiterate that heraldic submissions made after January 1st 2010 do not require payments. As this may cause a sudden influx of submissions, I trust you will bear with the College of Heralds if there are some delays in processing these submissions. I remind everyone that 3 colour copies and one black and white outline copy of all device and badge submissions are required, and two copies of all name submissions and supporting documentation are needed. Please send submissions to: Rocket Herald 11B Muriel Pl Ranui Auckland 0612 New Zealand. Lastly I am pleased to announce that Laurel has recently registered the following submissons: Edmund Kerr. Name. Isabel de Annesley. Name. Mery of Ellersly. Name. Sorcha inghean ui Cheallaigh. Device. {TH}orgr{i'} mr inn snjalli. Name and device. Yours, Eleyne Acting Crux

I look forward to seeing you all again next year.
9 Update to Target Archery Rules All those participating in target archery in any form are required to download and read the Target Archery Handbook, the link to which can be found on the Lochac Archers website at archers/ Please be aware that this handbook is currently undergoing a review process and, hence, you are encouraged to give feedback about any content you feel needs amending or updating. Please me via archer@aneala.lochac.sca.org with your suggestions. Yours in Service Isabel de Annesley Last months quiz was riddle: My attire is noiseless when I tread the earth, Rest in its dwellings or ride its waters. At times my pinions and the lofty air, Lift me high o'er the homes of men, And the strength of the clouds carries me far High over the folk. My feathers gay Sound and make music, singing shrill, When no longer I linger by field or flood, But soar in the air, a wandering spirit. What am I? Answer: A wild Swan. Benadict, Ally, Lachlahn, & Ydeneye all answered correctly. This winner drawn out of a suitably medieval hat was Lachlahn. Congratulations. A prize will be heading your way.
