FROM THEIR EXCELLENCIES A Cháirde Dhílis! The lion of March is upon us and we hope that the winds bring to each of you great hopes for the future. We have much to look forward to this month and much to prepare for. The past month has been very exciting! We hope that all of you who were able to attend this years Estrella WAR had a wonderful event despite the mud and rain. His Excellency was proud to fight beside the great warriors of our Barony on the Heavy field during the battles on Friday. You each fought proudly, bravely, and did our Barony and our Kingdom great honor upon the field. In the same token, we were both honored to fight beside and among the members of our Barony and our supporters upon the Rapier field on Saturday. The Outland's Southern Army fought with great pride and we have helped to win the day for our Barony and our Kingdom. Our artisans and volunteers also made us all very proud, and there was much excitement to be had at the equestrian arena, a joy to all who observed it! Those of our Populace who were unable to attend, please know that your company was greatly missed, both upon the field and around the fire. We hope to see everyone out again next year. The next big event this month will be Crown Tournament, where by strength of arms, the new Prince and Princess of the Outlands will be decided! We greatly hope to see all of you there! The event will be hosted by our dear friends in Gleann Medonach, who have graciously offered much feasting and revelry to the people our our Majesties great Kingdom! If anyone is in need of assistance in preparing for Crown, please contacts us! We would like as many people to attend as desire to do so. If you are in need of a ride or space to carry gear, please let us know. Following Crown Tournament, our friends in the Happy Valley just North of us in the Shire of Nahrun Kabirun, will be hosting a Multi-group fighter practice. This practice will be held at Veteran's Memorial Park on Roadrunner Parkway at 10am. There will fighting as well as some A&S workshops. They will also be hosting a swap meet during the event! Should anyone be in need of a ride or directions, please feel free to contact us. We are looking forward to crossing blades with our friendly neighbors!! Great preparations are to be made for the Investiture of our beloved successors Lord Nikolaus and Lady Aine! Investiture is to be held at the Tobin Park Methodist Church on March 29th. There is always much to be done and we know that m'lady Geillis is working very hard to put together a won- 4
derful event of celebration and fun. Help is always appreciated. If you have any time that you would like to make available to volunteer to help, please contact ourselves, m'lady Geillis or her Co-Autocrat Lady Rois. THL Warmin is the Feastocrat for this event, and we know that his culinary skills will bring us much to enjoy and savor! Thank you to one and all who have made the last two years so wonderful for us. This Barony would not be the warm home it is to us, if it was not for you the populace who make it so. Slán agus beannacht! Muireann and Giovanni Banbharun and Barone I remember when times were good. There are few heralds who are paid in aromatic gold. I feel my coffee coffers shrinking. Her Excellency kept me supplied with the best coffee brought in from the New World. THL Bela Magyar I remember a time at Clann Wars in one of the tourneys. Her Excellency was fighting someone, and le Guarde felt it their duty to "Loom Menacingly" behind the Baroness to remind her opponent that he was fighting more than just any old opponent. Don Christian Guillaume de Saint Clair 5

Outlands Events for March: 8-9 Gleann Medonach Spring Crown Tournament 16 Nahrun Kabirun Multi-Group Fighter Practice Blackwater Keep Defender Citadel Baronial Investiture FROM THE KNIGHT MARSHALL Greetings from your Knight Marshall, It has been my honor, and my duty to serve as your Knight Marshal up to now. I would like to thank each and every one of you for the smooth term of office, and the ease of working with the combatants and other Baronial Officers. However, my time as Knight Marshall is nearing the end and my appointed Deputy, Lord Wolf will be taking over immediately after Investiture. I am confident that he will execute the duties of the position with due diligence. If there are any questions, please feel free to direct them to either one of us. In Service Nikolaus von Stahlburg 6
FROM THE SENESCHAL Greet the day Citadellians. I trust everyone has returned from that little conflict I like to call Estrella War safe and sound and most everything has been unloaded, cleaned and put back into storage until the next time it is needed. Of course, if you have a metric ton of dried mud now in your abode, please be aware that to truly defeat Atenveldt, all we have to do is bring it back with us, one bucket full of dust at a time. March is here and with it comes spring time. Yes, spring time when the winds are strong and so is the fighting! Please prepare for the Windy time of the year by making sure that if you camp or set up shades they are secured to the ground well and good. The last thing we need is to have some one smacked on the head by a wayward shade or tent pole. Also, with the wind comes dehydration. Remember that not only the heat but the wind will take the moisture right out of you so drink plenty of fluids, the good kind, and keep healthy! With March begins tournament season. For those of you who can travel to the Shire of Gleann Medonach the second weekend of March 8 th & 9th, the pageantry of Crown Tournament awaits you. I do believe that the Barony also has an entrant or two in this august contest so again, if you are able to attend, please do so and support our local entrants. More information awaits you concerning this event on the Outlands and Citadel websites. For those of you with a yen for even more travel during the month, there are two events slated for the Easter weekend. The first is the Blackwater Keep Defender event held thru the entire weekend; the other is the Winter Wolf event held in the College of Blaiddwyn in the Barony of al-barran on Saturday March 22 nd. Both are fine events and if you are able, please attend one or the other of them to keep your event travel honed. Of course, for those of you who cannot travel for one reason or another (and they are many fine reasons, the price of petrol these days being one of them), there is always our own Baronial Investiture to be held the last weekend of March 29 th & 30 th. With Prize Tournaments on Saturday and Baronial Lists on Sunday there should be fighting enough for heavy and light combatants. His Lordship Warmin is preparing a fine repast for that Saturday night. The autocrat, Geillis, may still be looking to fill out her duty list so please get in contact with her if you have not already offered to assist at that event. Remember many hands make any task lighter and the Devil has use for idle hands. OK, so that was the Templar in me speaking but I am sure you all get the gist. On a more practical and economic note, with the price of petrol increasing it seems every day, please think of looking to antiquity and returning to the ancient and honorable method of eventing called car pooling. Yes, there is nothing like getting into a vehicle with folks you know, or don t, and traveling for a few hours at a time and just being able to talk, debate and yes, even argue the finer points of everything! It s ecologically sound and a sure fire better way to get to events safer (no falling asleep alone at the wheel), cheaper (because not everyone is as rich as a Templar), and more fun (because Baroness Shahrnavaz says so!) than just going it alone! Lastly, I would like to say that there are few things in this life more fulfilling that helping your fellow man, or woman. So please remember that the Silent Auction at Baronial Investiture will be dedicated to assisting a fine lady of the Southern Out 7
lands living in Nahrun Kabirun who we can all feel good about helping. Donate items to the Auction by seeing Sheik Omar. Donate and bid often. Bid often and bid high. Bid high and help an Outlander! Be well and be safe Citadellians - Berold, Seneschal FROM THE BARONIAL SCRIBE Unto the Scribes of the Citadel and Nahrun, Greetings, These recent years it has been my pleasure to work with you as Baronial Scribe. I would like to express my gratitude for all your hard work, patience, and creativity. How fortunate we are to have such talent and skill in our Barony and neighboring Shire! You have created such amazing works of art for our populace and throughout the Knowne World! However, my time as Baronial Scribe is nearing its end, and Mistress Shahrnavaz will follow as my successor. I am confident that the productivity of our scribes will continue with her leadership and guidance. Yours in service, Aine inghean Chormaic BUSINESS/OFFICERS MEETING There will be a business meeting conducted on March 13th, 2007 from 6pm to 7pm at the RIPE Eatery & Market.
