3 Greetings Unto the Fine Citizens of Lochmere, Missive from the Baronage to the Populace After a much needed rest after war, we traveled to visit our cousins in Bright Hills for their Trial by Fire/Lochmere Arrow event. We were invited to be taste judges for cooking competitions, which were all very well done and absolutely delicious. During evening court we were happy to see the Novice category was won by a new Lochmeri. His Excellency was tempted to make off with the Lochmere Arrow during court, but we decided there were too many witnesses. While Lochmere may not have won the Lochmere arrow back, we were glad that there were 3 Lochmere teams competing. The following weekend was Lochmere s shared event with Storvik: Battle on the Bay. The weather was particularly challenging but it was a fine turnout. There was plenty of fighting, with the heavy fighters on the field and the rapier fighters up in the barn as well as plenty of shooting and throwing on the archery and thrown weapons range respectively. As always the A&S displays were wonderful with an open display, at works in progress A&S challenge, and a mead challenge which was undoubtedly appreciated by those judging. We also had a silent auction which raised over $900 for the baronial cornets. Many thanks to all the artists that donated items and Lady Lisette for coordinating the auction. We were fortunate that the rain stopped so we could hold a joint court on the field with Baroness Griele from Storvik. Then we sat down and ate an absolutely wonderful feast cooked by Lady Christiana. It was truly wonderful to see so many Lochmeri coming together to work on this event and make it a success. Congratulations to the autocrats, Lady Genevieve and Lord Cormacc. Next we traveled south to the Barony of Sacred Stone to University. The University was outdoors and very well attended. It was his Excellency s first time teaching. It was a busy day but we both thoroughly enjoyed the event. At the end of the day, Their Majesties held Curia. The changes from Curia are posted in the Atlantia Acorn newsletter (you must log into sca.org to access it.) This upcoming weekend is Coronation and we hope to have many of you join us as we welcome our new Monarchs, Christoph and Adelheit. Field space has been reserved, and we ask everyone bring a dish or beverage to share. Looking forward to seeing everyone at Coronation. Archery Marshal - Lots of newcomers at Practice Will continue until the time change, November 1 Herald Requests / Notifications Several Lochmerii submissions are going to be considered at the Wreath and Pelican meetings this month. Expect the LoAR from the Laurel King of Arms with the results sometime in November There are approximately 100 names on my list of Lochmerii that I have not had the chance to speak with to confirm the preferred pronunciation of their name and preferred title. Lochmerii please continue to introduce yourselves to the baronial heralds and provide us with the proper / preferred pronunciation of your complete name. We would like to request that all individuals that consider themselves Lochmerii, please review their records in the Atlantian OP and check to see that they are listed as belonging to Lochmere, Atlantia. (It shows up below the Alternate names on the individual listings) If it does not, corrections can be requested at We confirmed the location for corrections with the OP maintainer at the Herald s meeting at Unevent. You can submit your own request for corrections, or ask us and we will submit all as one list. Other Heraldic Activities Baron Kryss ran the Herald s tent at Pennsic as Herald in Charge Baron Kryss designed the Blazon Challenge at Battle on the Bay Sigrid spoke with Hector Perez about determining a suitable name. Will consult with other heralds regarding sources for his preferred timeframe / locations Submissions Continued research for Baronial Order / Award names / badges. Current efforts focused on a badge for Friends of Lochmere. Ideas centered around an oak brank / sprig suggestions from Mistress Genevieve Submitted name and badge forms for the Children s Award: Award of the Alerion. Designed and name suggestion came from our deputy Mistress Genevieve. Working on documenting Viktor Corvinus name and designing a device acceptable to him Sigrid consulted with Grace Ivelchild on her device prior to her consulting & submitting at the Herald s tent at Pennsic Commentary In July, Sigrid commented on the Middle ILoI on Number 8 Maaicke van Zanten New Household Name (This is the Household, Sign of the Blasted Oak, to which the Barony gave permission to conflict) In August, Sigrid commented on the Atlantia LoP dated & the Atlantia LoP dated Heraldic Education: Classes Taken / Classes Taught Sigrid shadowed three name heralds at the Pennsic Herald s Tent. She also assisted in the Artists tent one evening. Court Heralding Court was held August 2, 2015 in the Lochmere encampment at Pennsic. Sigrid was seconded by Mistress Genevieve. Official Report has been submitted Court was held September 12, 2015 at Battle on the Bay: Samkeppni Ernir (A Competition of eagles) Sigrid was seconded by Mistress Genevieve.
