3 Brothers and Friends, First, I would like to thank David Polasek for his leadership as Grand Knight during the past two years. And secondly, the officers, committee chairman and wives who have assisted the Grand Knight in moving the council forward. I look forward with working each of you to continue make this a great council. July began our new fraternal year with a new slate of officers. All positions have now been filled. As Grand Knight, I would like to focus our council efforts on building the domestic church announced by our Supreme Knight, Card Anderson. These efforts combine two great traditions of the Knights of Columbus: building up Catholic family life and strengthening parish life. I would like to continue building on our current activities and complement these with the following: Consult with our priest how we can best meet the needs of the parish, Increase our visibility in parish activities, Focus recruitment of young families, Expand our council activities to include family orientated events (e.g. Family Picnic, Christmas Party, Easter Hunt, etc.), Encourage family participation in Corporate Communion mass, Continuing supporting Squires program at St. James and implement a program at Sts. Simon & Jude, Sponsoring parish youth activities such as the Free Throw Contest, scouting, scholarship program, etc., Initiate parish wide programs such as Family Week Celebrations, Father Day Affirmation of Wedding Vows, Keep Christ in Christmas Campaign, etc. I realize these are ambitious goals but it achieves our orders principles of charity, unity and fraternity. Here are some of the events we are planning; August Family Night will be our annual awards night with past grand knight as MC and September 10, we will bring back the Family Picnic. I welcome suggestions from our families on how to make this a wonderful family event. I would appreciate your comments, ideas and support as I begin my tenure as Grand Knight. 5 Home Association JFMHA Dear Board of Directors - - A Special Meeting by the JFMHA was held on Thursday, June 22, 2017 at This Special Meeting was scheduled two (2) weeks after the election of four 3-year and two 1-year term remaining Directors on June 8th in order to elect a President, Vice-President, Treasurer and Recorder. The following Directors were present: Schambach (WGK-elect); Armbruster; Kemper; D. Polasek (WGK); Curtin; Ledwig; P. Polasek; Groneck; Castro; Palasota and Leiker. RECRUIT! RECRUIT! Be sure to invite people out to see us, and when you get a chance to speak to a Catholic gentleman show them what we do! What you do is really pretty awesome - TELL SOMEBODY! FAMILY COMMITTEE We are looking for a knight to be the Chairman of the Family Committee. Responsibilities include gathering info on all the young families and getting info to them about family nights and programs. If you have a family or know a family, let this be your big start. Keep track of events so you can get our families together and grow our council family. Kids love doing stuff where other kids are doing stuff. Respect Life Brother Knights, I would like to express my appreciation for all those social and pastoral initiatives aimed at combating the social-economic and cultural mechanisms which lead to abortion, and concerned with defending Life and promoting the reconciliation and healing of those harmed by he tragedy of abortion. Initiative aimed at protecting the essential and primary values of life from its conception, and of the family based on indissoluble marriage between a man and a woman, help to response to some of today s most insidious and dangerous threats to the common good. Such initiatives represent, along with many other forms of commitment elements in the building of the civilization of Love. I ve notice that everybody that is for abortion has already been born. We need to join in prayer to bring protection to the unborn. Prayer and action are needed to uphold he sanctity of human life. Our next turnout for the Helper s of God s Precious Infants will be on Saturday July 15,2017 8:00 am Mass at Annunciation Catholic Church located 1618 Texas Ave. Houston, Tx followed by a Rosary procession at Houston Women s Clinic 4820 San Jacinto, Houston, Tx Parking along Caroline St. Please invite family and friends to help us pray to end abortion, because together much can be accomplished!!! By May 3,843 hours of our time had been donated to charity, that is worth over $86,467
