The theme for this program is Committed to Christ. You should have received by now a mailing that includes a booklet, pamphlet and commitment cards. If you have not received one, please contact the church office at We are hoping that in this six-week program, every household will be present each Sunday and will commit to growing one step closer to being fully devoted disciples of Jesus Christdedicating ourselves to the Lord and obeying what the Lord has commanded, all in a spirit of gratitude. May God bless you as you commit to this journey toward becoming a fully devoted disciple of Jesus Christ. Ministry Fair! This Sunday - September 30, 2013 Sunday, September 30, will be an exciting day in the life of First United Methodist Church, Monticello. We will join together to worship in a combined service at 10:00 A.M. in the Sanctuary. Combined praise and chancel choirs, along with the children s choirs will sing. Sunday School classes will NOT meet on September 30. Following the worship service, all our members are invited to an Every Member in Ministry Fair in the Family Life Center. At the fair, members will explore booths which will explain and entice members about our various ministry opportunities. Our youth will entertain and feed the children in the Fellowship Hall during the Fair. A free, casual meal of hamburgers/hot dogs will be provided for the children in the Fellowship Hall and for the adults in the Family Life Center. All Mission-Minded-Methodists... See you at the Ministry Fair!!! SIX STEPS 1. Grow in your prayer life. 2. Grow in your Bible reading. 3. Grow in worship attendance. 4. Witness and share your faith. 5. Grow in your giving. 6. Grow in hands-on service to the Lord.

United Methodist Men Tuesday, October 9 6:00 p.m. Family Life Center Delicious Meal Program by: Allison Collins Feed the Kids Ministry United Methodist Women All women of the church and community are invited to attend our UMW Circle meetings. Libby Annulis Circle will meet Tuesday, October 9 at 6:30 p.m. in the church Parlor. Wilma Hankins Circle will meet Tuesday, October 16 at 10:00 a.m. in the church Parlor. Circle #5 will meet Monday, October 15 at 6:00 p.m. in the Family Life Center. Contingency Fund: A fund/plan devised for an outcome other than in the usual expected plan. Everyone has an unexpected expense now and then where additional help is needed and the church may be the only answer. When you leave an extra offering on the altar on Communion Sunday this goes to the Contingency Fund. Please give so we can continue to help others in need. Thanks!! Jacket & Coat Drive To help the needy of Drew County Now thru October 21st Drop off: First Presbyterian Church 821 North Main 8:30 to Noon MISSION MINDED METHODISTS Saturday, Oct 20, join us for a day of mission in Monticello. Our efforts will help elderly, low-income home owners with unskilled maintenance projects and yard work. We will meet at the church at 8:00, divide into teams and work until we share lunch at the church at 12:00. Call Kathy Tumlison or Susan Musick for more information. Every age and ability is welcome, bring your tools and a positive attitude and we'll do all the good we can!

We packed 700 bags for our Feed the kids mission, hosted another soles 4 souls shoe drive, had a Coffeehouse, started Bible study, started having mentors, went to the fair, had prayer breakfast and attended the See You at the pole at our respected schools! Whew! We have got such a great group of youth coming to our events that it is such a blessing to have so many opportunities for them! October brings a whole host of exciting and wonderful opportunities for our youth. October begins with homecoming week for our MHS students. We want to say Congratulations to Annsley Davis who was voted to be on Homecoming court this year! I hope that all of our youth have a fun week. October 20 & 21 brings the annual exciting Southeast District Fall Rally. Our youth will be chaperoned by Tiffany Barnard, Donna Curry and Julie Smith for this rally at Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church. At the overnight rally with other youth in our district. We will learn what it means to manage our Time. The rest of October brings packing bags for the Feed the Kids mission, rubber-banding all of the hundreds of donated shoes and shipping them to the Soles 4 Souls warehouse in Tennessee, another FUMY Coffeehouse & hayride plus our monthly prayer breakfast and our annual Pumpkin Carving. We will end the month on the 31st with FUMC s Trunk or Treat. We are requesting donations of individually wrapped candy, Little Debbie cakes and small trinkets to be given out at the games available at Trunk or Treat. In closing, I want to mention that the youth are selling Boston butt roasts! The roasts will be available for pick up on Saturday, November 18, just in time for Thanksgiving! $25 each and you may call the church office to order one, if you don t buy one from a youth. As always, we appreciate our Church family for supporting all of our ministries! With all of the hustle & bustle this Fall, I wish you peace And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, will keep your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
