Each WMUMC person is prayed for by name each Tuesday, as well as special prayer and ministry needs that are lifted to God. Want to make a difference? Join us any Tuesday. Just drop in, and come as you can. I m About to Loose It! July Sermon Series Have you every felt simply overwhelmed? Pushed over the edge? Reached your last nerve and someone is standing, no Jumping on it? Well if so, this next series is for you. We are currently in a sermon series called Unglued, based on a book with the same name by New York Times bestselling author Lysa TerKeurst. In this book she offers words of hope and healing for people struggling to make wise choices in the midst of their raw emotions. Throughout July, Pastors Gina and Bert will be working through some of the basic ideas from this book as they relate to how we live a Christian life. Here is the schedule: 7/13 Remember Who You Are 7/20 Are You Making Wise Choices Part 1 7/27 Are You Making Wise Choices Part 2 We encourage you to pick up a copy of the book (available at Lifeway, and as a Kindle download). You are also invited to join the discussion group offered in Room 28 during the Sunday School Hour at 10:10. This will be a great time to discuss and ask questions. Please continue to join us for this insightful and useful series in your spiritual journey and invite a friend to join you this month. If you haven't signed up for the Warwick Memorial VOLUNTEER MEDICAL SERVICES TEAM, please join us for our second meeting on July 30, 2014 at 7 pm in the Aldersgate Classroom across from the Fellowship Hall. At the meeting on July 2, we got some great ideas and will be developing some activities for the future. Thanks to those who came and shared their ideas and offered to help. The team consists of people with medical knowledge of any kind, from nurses to physical therapy to mental health and many more. We want anyone who would like to help with the team, from clerical to medical knowledge, to anyone who just likes to help people. Please contact Karen Minetree at Hope to see you there! Vacation Time and Church Giving Have you given it any thought? You really should! Have you ever thought that summertime is a time when you should not only be generous in ways to bless yourself and your family, but it might be a good idea to be generous in our faithfulness and giving back to God? Unfortunately, churchgoers often forget about their giving and tithing in the summer while traveling and vacationing. It is a kind of out of sight, out of mind mistake that far too many make. We get focused on the time of year as a time of extravagance. You know, we spend the extra night at the beach or splurge for the all-you-can eat seafood. Yet, we somehow forget about God s extravagant love for us and our faithfulness to God s ongoing work in the world, even in summer. This summer we encourage you to keep God in sight. Use the summer not only as a time of becoming joy-filled and re-charged in God s Spirit, but also as a time to be blessed as you are faithful in giving to what God is still doing as we take our vacations. Here are a few ways to do this: Plan ahead place next week s offering with this week s if you plan to be gone. Use mail Did you know you could mail your giving to the church office on weeks you are away? Sure, you can! WMUMC, 38 Hoopes Road, Newport News, VA Let your bank do the work for you if you bank online, you can have your bank write a check and send it to the church. You can set this up to be done on a regular basis. Consider our E-Giving program for the summer months. You can learn more about this program at the E-Giving link on our website or QR code on the bulletin. Thank you for being faithful! Enjoy summer! 6 8:30 and 11:15 Psalm to the Savior Words and Music by Pepper Choplin Jesus, healer of my soul, your word can raise me up, Your touch can make me whole. Jesus, your promises shine bright. My tiny seed of faith will flower in your light. Your loving kindness is forever and you will never abandon me. So I will rest in your compassion, your great compassion will cover me. Jesus, my rock of faithfulness, your strength empowers me to stand through every test. Jesus, Redeemer and Lord, in brokenness, I call, in fullness, you restore. Your loving kindness is forever and you will never abandon me. So I will rest in your compassion, your great compassion will cover me. Jesus, you fill my every breath, sustaining me all my life, lifting me at my death. Jesus, healer of my soul, your word can raise me up, as you make me, Lord, you make me whole. Come, come and make me whole Hope Publishing Co. CCLI #68805 Here are some prayers to use this week: Household Prayer: Morning The sunlight of the morning shows us that darkness cannot prevail and that everything hidden is seen by the eyes of our God. Remind us this day that you see our needs and our deeds. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen. Household Prayer: Evening As the day turns into darkness, I give you thanks, O God, for the coming sleep, the time of silence, and the security of your never-dimming love. Watch over your weary world, care for those who have no home, and nourish me so that in my waking hours I am counted among those who remember the poor. May all your children find rest this night; in Jesus name. Amen. Page 6
