1 Warwick Weekly Ken Bradley led the Children s Time last week during the Lampstand service talking to them about a real mess and how to solve it. 3/12/17 2nd Sunday in Lent CALLED TO MAKE DISCIPLES OF JESUS CHRIST FOR THE TRANSFORMATION OF THE WORLD Lenten Worship Series Continues - Last week we started our Lenten Series called Restored: Finding Redemption in Our Mess. The point of Jesus resurrection is our restoration. During this series, we will explore the ways of God s love to clean up the messes we have in our lives. If we are honest, we all know that we has messes to deal with in our lives. Truthfully, as much as we try, we can t handle it alone. The love of God through Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit is our only hope. Join us each Sunday of Lent to explore the offer of grace and restoration that makes cleaning up this mess possible. Dear Congregation, Pastors and Staff of Warwick Memorial UMC, On behalf of the York River District, I deeply appreciate your support for the Bishop s Chat and Chew on March 5, Your hospitality was unmatchable. May the LORD God be honored and praised as you continue to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world! In Christ Jesus, Rev. Seonyoung Kim Today in Worship: Today s Ripple Moment is brought to us by Kerry Blazek of the 2017 Red Bird Mission Team. A group of 40 people will attend the Work Camp located near Beverly, Kentucky from Sunday, August 6, 2016 through Saturday, August 12th for the purpose of repairing homes in the local Appalachia area and the Red Bird Mission facilities. The team will be focusing on various fundraisers between now and August 1st to help raise funds to defer the costs of the trip. These include selling coffee, fundraising at Dino s, Family Fun Day and more. If you are interested in participating in the mission trip or want to help the team to raise funds, please contact Kerry Blazek at or kerryblazek@gmail.com. If you are interested in being a vendor for the Family Fun Day, let Kerry know Red Bird Mission Team. Charge Conference: There will be a special Charge Conference which has been called by our District Superintendant on March 23rd at 7pm in the Sanctuary. The sole purpose of this called Charge Conference is to finalize our 2017 budget. Warwick Memorial members are welcome to attend Lenten Study Begins Today and Wednesday! Our pastors are excited about our Lenten study, Restored: Finding Redemption in our Mess. The study will parallel our worship series. This class is for the beginner in the faith or the seasoned follower of Jesus to help reflect on the gift of the cross and grow in appreciation of Easter. Often we make a mess of our lives and wonder if there is any redemption. In this book, Rev. Berlin helps us see our mess through the eyes of Christ to find redemption and restoration. Using Scripture, devotional tools, and the writings of Ignatius of Loyola, John of the Cross, St. Augustine, John Wesley, Evelyn Underhill, and others, Berlin encourages reflection and meditation through our own brokenness. We hope you will join in this journey of faith. For small group study, we will have two options: * Pastors Bert & Gina will co-lead a Sunday evening study from 5:45 to 7:30pm beginning Today, March 12th. * Pastor Peggy will lead a day-time study beginning on Wednesday, morning study from 10 to noon beginning March 15th. Please come tonight or sign-up at the Facebook event link for Wednesday s class. Books will be available for purchase with the class ($13). Please ask a pastor if you have any questions. Childcare will be available during the Sunday evening class.

2 WARWICK WEEKLY WMUMC.ORG Page 2 March and April Activities You probably read the book. You may have loved it or hated it. Lots of folks are seeing the movie and commenting about its value to the Christian faith. Due to the the conversation and need to process it --- Your pastors invite you to see the movie with them on Wednesday, March 15 at 4:20pm at Regal Kiln Creek Stadium 20 Cinema. We will meet in the lobby a few minutes before the start time or join us inside. If you cannot make this showing, see it sometime soon and the pastors will follow-up with on-line conversation and dialogue, to be announced next week. Remember that the movie is PG-13 and has some mature themes. Please view a trailer and information before taking youth. ONE GUEST - this Easter We Love New Peeps! Jesus loves people.
