2 FATHER KEN S NOTES 2 SOMEOME PEOPLE NEVER KNOW WHEN TO KEEP THEIR MOUTH - WELL Two geese were about to start southward on their annual migration when they were entreated by a frog to take him with them. The geese expressed their willingness to do so if a means of conveyance could be devised. The frog looked around and found a long thick stick. He asked the geese to each grab an end of the stick with their beaks, while he clung to the stick by his mouth in the middle. In this way the three began their journey. The two geese flying high and strong with the frog hanging between the two geese as held onto the stick with his mouth. ELL...JUST UST READ THIS STORY! Some farmers below noticed the strange sight. The farmers loudly expressed their admiration for the travel device and wondered who had been clever enough to discover it. So the farmers yelled up - Mr. Frog, how is it that you are flying? Whereupon the frog opened his mouth to say, I thought of this idea," in expressing this the frog lost his grip of the stick as the geese continued to fly, the frog fell to the earth and was dashed to pieces. Moral: Some people never know when to keep their mouth shut! Faith Formation Marriage Preparation a one-day Marriage Preparation session cosponsored by Saint Margaret Mary and Mount Saint Peter Parishes takes place on Saturday, February 6, from 9:00-5:00 p.m. The day will feature married couples who present topics that are critical to sustaining a lasting and loving marriage. We are working diligently to plan a day that will be both formative and fun. The fee $30 includes a continental breakfast, lunch, and dinner at Villa Ballanca (dinner optional). 4 Wall of Money for Nicaragua 4 SMM Youth Ministry is raising money for Our Lady of the Conception, a small community in El Veijo, Nicaragra. This small, poor community is desperately in need of a new chapel. SMM Youth kicked off their fundraiser January with a Wall of Money. This is a very simple fundraiser that included 175 sequentially numbered envelopes; the smallest being $1 and the largest being $175. The burden does not have to be on any one individual; the envelopes just have to add up to the dollar amount on the outside. You can ask family members to help, take it to work, card club, perhaps you belong to a bowling league; some of us are members of prayer groups or men s groups. The sky is the limit. We are a generous parish and we can do this! Checks may be payable to St. Margaret Mary Church. Thank you! ALTAR SERVER MINISTRY All youth in Grades Four and above are invited to join the Altar Server Ministry. Saint John Paul II, speaking to Altar Servers on August 1, 2001 said: The Altar Server has a privileged place in liturgical celebrations. They experience from close at hand that Jesus Christ is present and active in every liturgy. Jesus is present above all in the Eucharist, under the appearances of bread & wine. Training is scheduled for Sunday, February 14, through February 28, immediately following the 11:00 a.m. Mass. No matter how busy & active you are, we are obliged and privileged to worship at Mass every weekend and holy day. WHY NOT PARTICIPATE EVEN MORE FULLY AND SERVE MASS? 6 Special Collection~ Jan Special collection Jan to support Catholic Charities Disaster Relief Efforts The Diocese of Greensburg will hold a special collection January to support disaster relief efforts in areas hit by floods and tornadoes in the southern and midwestern regions of the country. Bishop Edward C. Malesic called for the collection at the request of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops. Funds from this special appeal will be used to support the efforts of Catholic Charities USA, the domestic relief agency of the U.S. Catholic Church, as it responds to immediate emergency needs for necessities such as water, food, shelter and medical care, and to long-term rebuilding and recovery efforts. Funds will also go the USCCB to support pastoral and reconstruction needs. Working together, we can do so much to advance God s kingdom on earth, and most especially in these troubled times, Bishop Malesic said.
