1 Brethren, The long cold winter is finally behind us, with the snow and sub-freezing temperatures only an unpleasant memory that may return to haunt us next year. But let s not think about that. The world is being reborn all around us and each of us can experience the rebirth that Easter represents for many people throughout the world. I hope you were able to attend the Feast of the Paschal Lamb on Palm Sunday. It was an impressive ceremony that honored our Brethren that have completed their earthly voyage and are safe and secure in the hands of the God of our Fathers. Kudos to the cast, members of the Chapter of Rose Croix, the choir, and all who participated in the event. The Scottish Rite The month of May will bring the 1st year anniversary of my installation as Commander-in-Chief of the Williamsport Consistory. The past year has been a whirlwind of activity for your Scottish Rite and has passed more quickly than I could have ever imagined. 2014/15 offered the Golf Tournament, Council of Deliberation, Little League Parade, Members Picnic, Fall Class, Children s Christmas Party, Spring Class, a Dinner Theatre, 8 Stated Meetings and many other activities too numerous to mention. Next year will be just as busy and will include several surprises. Please make every effort to attend the Valley s activities. You may find you will enjoy both the events and the company. Our Vision is, WE WILL STRIVE TO BE A FRATERNITY THAT FULFILLS OUR MASONIC OBLIGATION TO CARE FOR OUR MEMBERS. Your officers have been working very hard to fulfill that BULLETIN PUBLISHED BY THE VALLEY OF WILLIAMSPORT, PA May 2015 A Message from the Commander-in-Chief Ill. Keith R. Tressler, 33º vision. We are always looking for new ideas and suggestions that will bring our members a deeper sense of brotherhood and renewed excitement about our Fraternity. We have included purely social times at Christmas and during both classes, including wine and cheese, that we hope has encouraged a more intimate time to converse, revisit old friendships and make new ones. In keeping with that same mindset of fraternal brotherhood, but in a different area of concern, we all need to be more aware of the financial condition of our Valley and spend some time considering what we can do to improve it. Your Trustees and Officers have spent a great deal of time on the subject and have made substantial progress over the past several years in bringing the Valley into a more stable financial position. However, our budget for 2014/15 is approximately $350, with dues providing somewhat less than 50% of our income. The rest comes from fundraising efforts (raffles) and building rentals. I know some of you are becoming tired of being bombarded with raffle tickets, but that is how we stay solvent. I am sympathetic and hear your plea but need your suggestions on what to do instead of raffles and to also increase your participation in the Valley. I am open to all suggestions and look forward to talking with you about what will make our Valley succeed in the future. Fraternally, Ill. Keith R. Tressler, 33º Commander-in-Chief VALLEY WEBSITE If for whatever reason you do not get your bulletin on time, please go to the website. The bulletin is always posted on the Publications page of the website as soon as it is finalized, even before it is printed. We are also on Facebook, Twitter, Vimeo, and Pinterest!
