3 Our Stewardship Digital Donations We recently changed our online giving partner to reduce our monthly costs but still give our congregation and guests the chance to support our ministries with donations. Our new partner is Givelify and we have donations for both churches in one place. Feel free to check out new giving page on our website or use your phone to scan the little QR code in the bulletin that looks like this > You can make a one-time donation to either church, third Sunday missions or something else you would like to support. You can also set donations on a schedule to make sure you don t forget or for when you are on vacation. We wish our bills would stop coming when you re away, but they don t. In any case, the churches thank you for your generous support and hope this tool allows others to participate with you. We hope this new giving system will be useful for you and also for our guests. Please do take a look and let us know if anything needs to be corrected or improved. Thank You for Your Participation in Missions This month, the 3rd Sunday mission offerings will be taken on June 17th. The Dells/Delton congregation is collecting for Heifer International this month. The Davis Corners congregation will be collecting for the Salvation Army. Please support these worthwhile ministries with your additional offering as we work together to bless and care for the communities around us and those much less fortunate. Please continue to bring items for the Holy Cross and Dells/Delton United Methodist combined pantry donations. This month we are collecting dish soap for the panty. Please be aware that the pantry is also looking for volunteers to help them in their current need. 4 Denomination News Court OKs submission of other petitions for GC2019 The Council of Bishops requested a Judicial Council ruling on whether petitions inconsistent with the bishops own report could be considered at the special General Conference. Bishop Bruce R. Ough, the immediate past president of the Council of Bishops, argued that only legislation consistent with the bishops report would be in order. The Council of Bishops said it was sharing the commission s work, which was conducted at closed meetings, and recommending the One Church Plan for legislative action by the special General Conference. That plan would loosen current restrictions on same-sex weddings and gay clergy at the conference and local levels. The council also will provide supplementary materials about two other options, the Traditionalist Plan and the Connectional Conference Plan. The Judicial Council has opened the way for the special General Conference to receive petitions from more than the Council of Bishops. The denomination s top court, in Decision 1360, ruled that any United Methodist organization or individual can submit petitions as long as the business proposed to be transacted in such petition is in harmony with the purpose stated in the call. Determining what qualifies as in harmony, the Judicial Council says, is the job of General Conference itself, through its committees, officers and presiders and its rules and procedures. Business deemed not in harmony will not be allowed unless approved by a two-thirds vote of General Conference. Bikes extend evangelism in East Congo The size of the East Congo Episcopal Area and the inaccessibility and state of certain roads has made deep evangelization difficult. However, The United Methodist Church s Bikes and Bibles ministry is helping East Congo leaders overcome those obstacles so that they can fulfill their mission of making disciples of Jesus Christ all over the world, said Bishop Gabriel Yemba Unda. Let s lift ourselves and build our vision. The bikes and motorcycles that you receive from our partners are means available to help us reach our priority and realize or materialize our vision that is drawn from the book of Nehemiah 2:18, Unda said. Since 2014, the Bikes and Bibles ministry has been providing bicycles, motorbikes and native-language Bibles to pastors in the United Methodist connection, especially those in Africa. 5 Other News FOUNDATION STEWARDSHIP NEWS SUMMER SCHEDULE CHANGE If you did not notice on the front cover, we are changing the schedule slightly for the summer months. Bible studies will be held Thursday morning at Dells-Delton and Friday afternoon at Davis Corners. Office hours for the remainder of summer will be Thursdays and Fridays. We will still be having our evening Bible study at the end of the month and Pastor Lee is always available for you by phone or . As we move into fall we will be changing office hours from Friday to another weekday. If you have a suggestion for the best times for office hours, please let Pastor or a member of PPR know your thoughts. We hope you are blessed to enjoy the summer fun that the Dells offers and that you have time to spend with family and friends enjoying all that nature has to display by the had of our God. 6 Congregational News Dells-Delton Outreach Outreach has not meet but would like to remind everyone of the events this summer and fall: cook out at Walmart on August 11th, the annual Rummage Sale on October 5th, and Pancake Supper on November 7th. We would be grateful for any donations that you can save for the rummage sale. Of course we will also need your help with all of these events. I thank you for all you do for the church. I pray for blessing on your lives! outreach committee Alter Flowers and Hospitality at Dells-Delton Holy Cross has invited us to help supply flowers for the altar on Sundays. If you would like to honor a loved one, acknowledge a birthday, anniversary, special occasion, or for no particular reason at all, there is a sign up sheet on the wall above the desk in the lounge. There are also instruction sheets on how to go about doing this. Evening Bible Study at Dells-Delton We are continuing the teaching and discussions we began during Lent once a month at Dells-Delton. These studies are open to anyone who would like to attend and learn a bit more about the early church. Be sure to join us for these continuing studies and bring something if you wish. We will not be having a dinner, only a snack or desert when someone feels led to bring one. We will meet again on June 27th at 6:30pm to look at the church at Ephesus. Dells-Delton UMW News The UMW are coordinating the collection of health kits that will stay in Wisconsin for men,women and children. We are gathering the supplies and donations for these kits to bring them to Annual Conference this June. We will be asking for donations because we are going to make ten of each for our mission project. Thanks for all of you help at our salad luncheon this year. Our next meeting will be held on June 6th at 12:30pm.

7 Congregational News HEALTH KITS FOR ANNUAL CONFERENCE For Annual Conference this year the UMW is coordinating the collection of items for Wisconsin Conference Hospitality kits. These kits are used as emergency supplies in shelters in Superior and Milwaukee. We have received a large amount of combs, toothbrushes and other supplies but need the following items and 1 gallon plastic bags to complete the kits. My Mom and I were the hostesses, she made a delicious cake dessert with raspberries on top and I made lemon bars. Thank you Mom for all that you do for United Methodist Women!! If anyone would like to donate items for our Rummage Sale they can be brought to the church the week of July 1st. Watch for further announcements in the church bulletin and July s newsletter. Our June meeting will be on June 4th, 2018 at 1:00 p.m., at the church hall. Hostess for this meeting will be Rose Fischer. If any women that would like to attend our monthly meetings please feel free to do so. We can provide you dates, times, location and directions to the hostess home. Until then God Bless Bonnie J. 8 NOTE FROM THE PASTOR The snow has finally stopped and we ve been able to get a few meetings in that were cancelled with all of the late season weather. May has been warm! I ve always been a big fan of springtime weather and it seems like we didn t really get a very traditional spring this year. Still, the trees have budded out and the lilacs have bloomed, and I have enjoyed seeing the world spring back to life. Our faith and our church seem also to have these seasons. This year I took some time off of travelling to Garrett to work on Course of Study, so my springtime reading list has been much shorter than normal. The list of papers to write has also been shorter and I ve been enjoying the chance to catch up on other tasks at church and home that would otherwise be delayed. Another normal part of spring is preparation for our Wisconsin Annual Conference meeting over Father s Day weekend. This year should prove interesting. We are in the midst of preparing for a General Conference (worldwide Methodists) in St. Louis next February to determine how and if we can keep the denomination together. Wisconsin is also preparing to launch a fundraising campaign to raise $5 million to begin and enhance some of our ministries. Both of these efforts are leading to a number of conversations about how and why we do ministry and both of these topics are far from fully discussed. This has been a long winter season for Methodists and for the Wisconsin Conference. Hopefully the work that we all do over the next few months will provide us a springtime to enjoy in Wisconsin and especially in the Dells-Delton / Davis Corners charge. Things have been changing locally for us. I hope you ve noticed the new faces that are joining us regularly and the guests that are coming to enjoy the Dells area. Your hospitality is what has been causing these people to return or stay after they visit with us. The turmoil around the church gives me difficulty, but the steady changes at both of our churches has given me great pleasure. If we can remember how to be Christlike: being invitational, speaking truth in love, carrying each other s burdens and remembering that all of us, congregants and our guests, are God s family together. if we can remember that, our churches will continue to grow and bring life through Jesus Christ to our neighbors. Remember, that is all He asked us to do. It takes time and risk, but it s really not that hard to do! Peace and Blessings!
