However, it does not mean we forget about Jesus s sacrifice on the cross as an atonement for our sins and quit celebrating Christ s resurrection, that we too may inherit eternal life and just move on to the next thing! So, the question may now be--what do we do now? Well the answer is pretty straightforward! We now live each day each moment like we truly believe--jesus died on the cross and that he was raised from the dead! Notice, I did not say-- simple rather straightforward because in the midst of each day each moment temptation, challenges, busyness from the world and evil forces tries to distract us away from God s accomplishments for humanity through his Son, Jesus to other things. So following Good Friday and Easter Sunday what do we do now? Well, we do the things of God which remind and strengthen our faith, rather than distract us from the cross and resurrection as we strive to grow God s kingdom and make disciples of Jesus Christ. We begin and continue to live out what Good Friday and Easter Sunday means in our life! We begin and continue to share with others about Good Friday and Easter Sunday and what it can mean in their life! We begin and continue to see and accept all others, not through our human eyes but through the eyes of God--knowing just like us God is not finished with them yet either! We begin and continue to strive to be the example the light and love of Christ--to ALL! We begin and continue to use the space within our renovated church building, to help meet the needs within our community! We begin and continue to do the ministries and missions that we have been discussing and posting on the easel in addition to those God reveals in the future! We begin and continue to be open to God the Holy Spirit guiding and directing all of our daily paths, rather than us directing and guiding the Holy Spirit! And so, again the answer to what do we what do I do now is pretty straightforward! Like you, I am striving to listen and be open to the Holy Spirit s leading in my life and God has provided yet another opportunity--a Cancer Care Ministry within our community area. The ministry will be facilitated through our church and within our church building. Those who attend FUMC, along with others from our community and beyond are welcomed to volunteer and help as well! The ministry will be available to all Cancer patients, caregivers, family members, etc. and has been presented and approved by our Administrative Council. On Wednesday April 15 th, we will hold a covered dish dinner beginning at 6 pm, followed by a Cancer Care Ministry presentation. Following the program, anyone who believes God is calling them to volunteer in this ministry, will be invited to sign up for a 9 week training program. All are invited to come and hear how God intends to reach out through our Cancer Care Ministry to many within our Farmville community area. Please come and see the wonders of God! Take Care peace. In Christ s Love Pastor Bill

2 Cancer Care Ministry We will be having a covered dish dinner on Wednesday, April 15 at 6:00pm to help kick off for The Cancer Care Ministry that our church will be beginning soon. It's going to be a great ministry that will provide several different opportunities for us to take part in. The Cancer Care Ministry Meeting will begin at 6:45. Angela Banks will have an activity for the kids at 6:30. There will also be a time for reflection/remembrance for Dad Price. He had requested no formal service at the time of his death. We will gather in the chapel at 6:30 for anyone that would like to share something with Bill and Jean. NATIVE AMERICAN MINISTRIES SUNDAY, APRIL 19 One tribe in North America has told this story for centuries: when people pale as birch crossed the great water in large canoes, they brought with them The Black Book. However, the bringers of the physical Book could not have known what it would mean and look like to be Native and a follower of Jesus. Today Native Americans with many unique languages, many unique cultures honor their heritage, and live as Jesus-followers, led by a rotation of primarily Native American pastors. Supporting the Ministry of Christ among Native People Most Americans today recognize that the history following the arrival of the large canoes bore little resemblance to the one all Christians identify as Creator. That s why the people of The United Methodist Church, Native and non-native, are creating a new history. Through Native American Ministries Sunday, we re able to equip and empower Native American pastors, congregations and seminary students to do what only they can do: authentically worship and serve Jesus. As a member of The United Methodist Church, your gift, on this day, equips Native congregations like New York s Onandaga Nation UMC and Nebraska s Native American Sacred Winds congregation to worship and serve as only they can. This work, and hundreds of other ministries, are possible because you give. Our Giving Allows Native Americans to Encounter, Worship and Serve Jesus. When you support Native American Ministries Day, you equip seminary students who will honor and celebrate Native American culture in their ministries. And you empower congregations that are finding fresh new ways to minister to their communities with the love of Christ. Together, we empower local spiritual development and educate Native American seminary students to serve God faithfully. Say yes. SUNDAY APRIL 5 THE COMMUITY SUNRISE SERVICE at THE FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH - 6:30am. Rev. Rocky Stone, pastor of the Farmville Presbyterian Church will be speaking. (Breakfast will follow in the Fellowship Hall) Farmville UMC EASTER SUNDAY SERVICES at 8:30am and 11:00am The Away Day meeting in March was extra special and Spirit-filled. Eloise Carraway read a devotion from GOD S PLAN B after which there was much discussion about listening to the small voice within and then acting on it. Refreshments and door prizes were enjoyed by all. Jean Walker gave a program about organizing stuff by using simple household items. She encouraged the group to be creative. For example, if you often clip news articles, make an attractive folder for them by using left-over wallpaper! Bringing order to our stuff help promote well-being. The next Away Day will be Wed. May 5. Come join us! COMMUNITY BIBLE STUDY Seeking Him experiencing the Joy of Personal Revival by Nancy Leigh DeMoss and Tim Grissom. 4 Because of the quarantines which were necessary to contain the virus, many people have become desperately in need of basic food supplies. Particularly impacted are children who have become orphaned due to the Ebola virus outbreak and countless others who have been ostracized in their communities because of the disease. It is well within our capabilities to load an entire container of these food buckets and send them as a gift in honor of Bishop Yambasu who has helped to lead his country s fight against the problems brought by the Ebola virus. Bishop Yambasu and his colleagues in the Sierra Leone Annual Conference will distribute the food on the ground as they determine specific needs. Here are the logistics necessary to prepare the shipment: Churches can begin to collect food for the food buckets at any time. The items that are needed are as follows: 1 bag of sugar (4 or 5 lbs); 1 bag rice (5 lbs); 1 bag dried beans (2 lbs); 1 package of powdered milk (10 oz or less); 1 box of oatmeal (18 oz or less); 1 bottle of cooking oil (48 oz or less); 2 cans of meat (ham, chicken, or tuna). Important note: We need to have the buckets filled to the brim which in some cases may mean that extra rice or beans should be added before the lid is sealed. Collected food can then be either: a. Boxes/bags of food can be collected of the different items and pre-sorted by type of food. b. Or Churches may pack food in 5 gallon buckets with all of the items listed above. Should Churches choose to do this option, please contact Bill Haddock beforehand. All collected food should be brought to FUMC by Sunday, May 10. The food will be taken to the warehouse on Monday through Saturday, May 11-16, May 16 is a part of Change the World Weekend and the warehouse will be in need of volunteers to fill buckets, palletize them, and arrange them for shipment. Volunteers should arrive at the warehouse at 9 am that day. Thank you in advance for your help in this project.
