Box 750 Office: (478) Gray Street, Parsonage: (478) Millen, GA Cell phone: (478) THE ADVOCATE The purpose of the Millen United Methodist Church is to Call, Nurture, Teach and Send Forth Disciples of Jesus Christ. Where Do We Go from Here? What a great revival we had last week here at Millen UMC! We were blessed by the message of God's love and forgiveness, brought to us by Rev. Bob Tuttle in his inimitable way. Now that the revival event is over, we go over in our minds the thoughts that remain with us from Bob's words, which came to us from the Holy Spirit. The question for us now is, "Where do we go from here? What do we do next?" Our Bible study this week gave us an important reminder that we have a responsibility to serve God, according to how much we have been blessed: "When someone has been given much, much will be required in return; and when someone has been entrusted with much, even more will be required." (Luke 12:48). God has blessed us in so many ways through the unconditional love of Jesus Christ. We must move on toward Christian perfection, and faithfully do what John Wesley taught: works of piety (prayer, Bible study, Holy Communion, fasting, Christian community, healthy living) and works of mercy (charity; visiting the sick and the poor; feeding and clothing people; earning, saving, and giving as much as we can; opposing oppression). What are your ideas? What is the Holy Spirit nudging you to do? Pay attention to what God is placing on your heart. Let me know how and where you are being led. Let's go on this journey together. It'll be a trip! May the joy and peace of Christ be with you.

OPPORTUNITIES FOR GIVING: We have needs for different areas of the church that need improvement. Would you consider helping with any of the following: 1. Replacing /refinishing the eaves. 2. Replacing the flooring in the Social Hall, including installation of acoustic absorbers. 3. Dishwasher replacement. 4. Ice Maker replacement. 5. Make Plans to Come STATESBORO DISTRICT CONFERENCE On MAY 20, at 4pm-6:30pm, at Statesboro First, our Statesboro District Conference will be held. This conference will include fellowship, refreshments, delegate orientation, singing, mission projects, and the worship service. These are just a few of the things that you will enjoy during the Statesboro District Conference. Mark your calendar and do spread the word to others for an enjoyable day of fellowshipping with each other.

Chicken Q Fundraiser Saturday, May 5 th When: 11:00 AM 1:00 PM Cost: $7.00 per plate Each plate consists of ½ barbecued chicken, two sides, and a slice of cake. If anyone needs additional tickets to sell, please see Anna. Everyone is encouraged to sell as many tickets as possible. Jesus said that when we visit a prisoner, we visit the Lord himself. Are you interested in teaching/facilitating a faith-based program once a week at the new prison? Remember to keep praying for the Holy Spirit to reveal to you one or two unchurched persons that you can influence and draw closer to Christ.
