Daniel has been with us for two Sundays, and the comments regarding his playing have been overwhelmingly positive. He is commuting from San Antonio where he served Trinity Baptist Church for twelve years. He began at Trinity as Associate Minister of Music and was elevated to Interim Minister of Music for two years. Daniel was born and grew up in Mexico and received his Bachelor of Arts in Music from the National Autonomous University of Mexico, Mexico City. He came to the United States to further his education and received both a Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth. Besides his work for Trinity Baptist, Daniel also served churches in Mexico and Texas. Other job experience includes work as a music instructor and lecturer and Music Department Chairman for the Mexican Baptist Theological Seminary in Mexico City. While at the National University of Mexico, Daniel earned the highest GPA in his major. He was on the 1983 Dean s List at Southwestern Baptist Seminary and the National Dean s List in 1988.

Thank you too for the incredible show of love and support by attending his memorial service and for the flood of cards and memorial contributions you have sent in memory of him. You all were a huge part of his life his Church Family. We also want to thank the Congregational Care Committee who prepared food for the reception in the Fellowship Hall immediately following his service. We truly appreciate your presence, your hugs, and your wonderful support. The Gus Keiser Family A Note of Love and Appreciation Thank you for the beautiful retirement reception, the decorations, and the food in honor of my retirement after 15½ years of service to the church. I also greatly treasure the many, many friendships developed through the years. With love, Karen Carson POINSETTIA ORDERS As is traditional each year during the Advent Season, poinsettias may be purchased in memory or in honor of friends or loved ones. The plants will adorn the sanctuary for the entire season and may be taken home after the 7:00 p.m. service on Christmas Eve. A beautiful display will be placed in the narthex, listing all of those who have participated. The poinsettias are available for $11 each and order forms are available in the Sunday Worship bulletins. Orders will be received through Monday, November 26. Proceeds will go to the Benevolence Committee for distribution to local agencies in need.

3 Books & Scones B o o k s a n d Scones is a book review club that meets regularly in the church library/parlor to discuss Christian or inspirational books. The next meeting of the group is scheduled for Tuesday, November 18, at 3:30 p.m. The group will view the video The Nativity Story together. There is no book this month. Please join us in the church library as we get into the true spirit of the Christmas season by viewing this excellent film. Bayside Bazaar Saturday, November a.m. 4 p.m. The Helping Hands Craft Guild is hosting its annual Bayside Bazaar in the fellowship hall of The Church at Horseshoe Bay. Donation to attend is only $10 and all proceeds from the Guild s handcrafted items and Silent Auction, as well as a percentage of sales by the other vendors, go to The Helping Center of Marble Falls. Come and explore the unique gifts, perfect for all of those hard-to-buy for friends and family members. Please Fill Our Playpens! The Women of the Word (WOW) are sponsoring their third annual Diaper and Baby Food Drive from November 16 through November 23. The Family Crisis Center and The Helping Center will share in the receipt of the items brought to the church. Please place your items in the playpens which are decorated and set up in the fellowship hall. Donations needed at this time are all sizes of diapers, baby foods such as vegetables, fruits, meat, and cereal, and all types of baby formula. Families have an increased need for assistance with these items during the holiday season. We hope you will bring your donations to the church. This article is part of a continuing series on the organizations that are supported by The Church at Horseshoe Bay through the Benevolence Committee. Third Annual Benevolence Bazaar For the third year, the Benevolence Committee will again showcase the missions and other benevolent organizations that the church supports at a bazaar following the 11:00 a.m. service on December 7. This event will provide church members an opportunity to learn more about the various agencies as well as affording the organizations a venue to share information with the congregation. Through your generosity, our church is able to support approximately 31 missions, camps, and benevolent agencies, and we urge you to visit their exhibits. Many opportunities to volunteer abound in our area, and the Benevolence Bazaar is a great place to find a spot that will make use of your gifts and talents through a variety of organizations served by The Church at Horseshoe Bay. Singles Group The Church at Horseshoe Bay singles group is hosting a game and pizza night on Wednesday, November 12, at 6:00 p.m. at Quail Point. There will be cards, dominoes, and Scrabble along with pizza and refreshments. Upcoming events will also be discussed. The cost is $5 per person. The breakfast will be held in honor of Veterans Day. The guest speaker for this event is U.S. Naval Academy graduate Debbie Powell, who was on duty aboard the U.S.S. Cole when it was attacked by terrorists. The ship was refueling in Yemen at the time of the attack that killed 17 and wounded 39 sailors. Tickets will be available in the narthex on Sunday, November 9 and in the church office during business hours for $10 each. Get your tickets TODAY! Charitable Giving Recently, the US Congress extended a provision allowing taxpayers age 70 1/2 or older to transfer as much as $100,000 a year directly from an IRA to charity without owing income taxes on the money. This transfer is counted toward the taxpayer s required minimum distribution for the year. Be sure to check with your personal financial advisor or CPA to see how you may benefit from this provision. Button, button, who s got the button...or the tablecloths? We are currently missing 3 rectangular and 2 round tablecloths of the new linen stock and numerous round tablecloths from the original linen stock. PLEASE, PLEASE check to see if you might have these in your home, and return them to the church, if found. Thanks! St. Fred s Mission Outreach For the past several years our congregation has provided support for the community Thanksgiving meal served by Mission Outreach of St. Frederick s Baptist Church. The meal will be served this year on Saturday, November 15th. Donations of pies, cakes, turkeys, cranberry sauce, cornbread, onions, bell peppers, celery, and green beans are needed. Especially important are cash contributions. Contributions may be given to Jim Jorden or Dee Erickson. Volunteers are needed two days before the event to prepare the food and early on November 15th for serving the food. Last year more than 1200 meals were served. Please deliver your food donations to 301 Ave N in Marble Falls.
