1 Traditional Worship Service - 9:00 AM Contemporary Worship Service - 10:30 AM JUNE 2017 Inviting people to be in relationship with Jesus Sharing the Journey By Charles Martindell Romans 12:15-18 Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly; do not claim to be wiser than you are. Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all. If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. I was thinking recently about a letter I received years ago. It was from a newer attendee at the church I was serving at that time. Here s some of what she wrote: For many years, I wandered around without much purpose to my life When I started attending church, it was a different feeling than I had ever had....god opened my eyes and my heart. I feel myself grieving with those who grieve, and rejoicing with those who rejoice. I just wanted to thank everyone for making me feel so welcome over the past year... I can tell you that letters like that are among any pastor s favorite things. For someone to experience the love and living presence of Christ through a church, like this person described, is an inspiration in all the best ways. We talk a lot about how lives are being changed through our experiences with God as a church. I m not always sure we are thinking about the same things when it comes to changed lives. But I think we know it when we see it. In the weeks following our Easter celebration, we reminded each other that the reality of Easter is not one day of the year or it s not even one awesome morning of worship at church on Easter Sunday. The resurrected Christ continues to be with us during every hour and throughout our every days. Sharing the journey with each other as a community of faith is one of the best ways we are helped to receive what can only be found in Christ. From time to time I m reminded that we are on a shared journey together and God is doing miraculous things in our hearts and lives. Our mission is invitational in nature. So let s invite people to join us on the journey, and share the transformational love of Christ we are coming to know and trust for ourselves. Summer Gifts of Music Our tradition is to invite gifts of special music during Summer Sundays at our 9:00 Worship Service. Please contact Peggy Smith or Carol Black if you have a gift of music to share! We thank Carol and our Choir for their amazing ministry over this past Fall/Winter/Spring! Such wonderful gifts that have given glory to God and have blessed the church.
