2 Happenings at New Life Pigs & Paper We have two Lenten Outreach opportunities this year. Pick up your piggy bank in the back of the worship area and fill it with your change during the months of March and April proceeds will go to ELCA World Hunger Relief. For just $30 you can provide a piglet to a family in need. When this little piggy grows up, she will give birth to as many as 16 piglets each year. Pigs help fertilize fields, provide food to eat and can be sold at market for much-needed income. We will also be collecting paper products (toilet paper, paper plates, paper towels, napkins) to give to local families in need. Paper products will be given out on Wednesdays, April 26 and May 3. We are looking for volunteers (adult & youth) to help with distributing during the hours of 4:30-6:30 p.m. on both Wednesday, if you d like to help, please talk to Lisa Smith, Shirley Geyer or Christie Kobernusz. Easter Egg Hunt The Board of Eduction is accepting donations of candy (small and wrapped) to fill Easter Eggs for the annual NLLC Easter Egg Hunt, scheduled for April 8 at 9 a.m. We will meet following 10:30 worship on April 2 to fill the eggs, all volunteers are welcome!. Mark your calendars and invite your Facebook friends to join in the fun. Silent Auction Participants in this summer s youth mission trips to Kansas City and LasVegas will be funding part of the trip on their own, and will also be doing some fundraising. We are again holding a Silent Action that will conclude on Palm Sunday. The following youth will be participating in the Kansas City trip: Nathanial Adams, Ethan Bemis, Royce Clark, Colten Harryman, Evan Hill, Sheldon Hill, Tanner Merriman, Ben Liedtke & Spencer Taylor and Chaperones, Lance Taylor and Pastor Nate. Those planning on the Las Vegas trip include: Lauren Bice, Shay Feuling, Zoie Havick & Cindi Thronson and Chaperones, Melissa Bice and Pastor Nate.

3 April 2017 Happenings at New Life Vendor Fair & Bake Sale 2017 NEW LIFE LUTHERAN CHURCH Vendor Fair The 2017 Spring Fling Vendor Fair and Bake Sale will be, held on April 22. Expect a great variety of vendors and delicious baked goods. This event is a fundraiser in support of, New Life's Vacation Bible School Program. A perfect time to pick out unique gifts for Mother's Day or to shop for yourself SATURDAY APRIL 22 8 AM - NOON Shop all these vendors in one place!adult Forum Adult Forum meets on Sunday morning at 9:30 in the Resource Center. The Forum is currently doing a study of the New Testament, exploring each Book individually each week. In April we will be studying Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians & Colossians. All adults NEW LIFE LUTHERAN CHURCH (BASEMENT)are encourage to come and be a part of the forum discussion as we 4380 WAKONDA DR., NORWALK VBS Fundraiser-Thank you vendors! strive to increase our knowledge and understanding of scripture. Second Sunday Men s Group The Second Sunday Men s Group will meet April 9 from 7-8:30 p.m. to start a new Bible Study based on interesting men of the Bible. The April topic will be: 'Redeeming our weakness": Peter'. All men of the congregation are invited. Dinner will be provided. OWLs Luncheon All Older and/or Wiser Lutherans are invited to meet for a Dutch Treat Lunch on Friday, April 21 at 11:30 a.m.- location to be decided. Palm Sunday Brunch The Youth of NLLC will be hosting a Palm Sunday Brunch on Sunday, April 9 from 9:30-10:20 a.m. The funds raised from this event will be used toward this year's mission trips to LasVegas and Kansas City. There are 9 kids plus sponsors participating in the Kansas City trip and 4 others plus sponsors going on the LasVegas trip. These mission trips have always proven to be a time of learning and growth for our youth. Make plans now to attend the fun time of food and fellowship and help support our youth.

4 Happenings at New Life Easter Lilies Order forms for Lilies to be used to decorate the worship area on Easter Sunday are available on the table in the rear of the worship area or on line ( If you would like to donate an Easter Lily, please complete the order form and return to the church office by Sunday, April 9. Donated plants may be taken home to enjoy immediately after the 10:30 a.m. worship on Easter Sunday. Nursery Help Needed Children & Family Ministries and the Board of Education are looking for more volunteers to help with Nursery during the 10:30 worship time. If you could help out or know of someone who would be willing to help out, please have them contact, Pastor Nate, Laura Kimball ( Stephanie Ferner ( or the church office. Celebrate Baptismal Anniversaries & Welcome New Members On April 30 we will celebrate Baptismal Anniversaries of those baptized in April and welcome into membership anyone who has recently expressed interest in joining New Life. If you've been visiting for a while and would like to become a member of New Life, please speak with Pastor Nate or contact the church office. Can you help with mowing? Opportunities Abound! Southeaster Iowa Synod Spring Assembly Each spring, synods gather in assembly to lift up and celebrate ministries and address the official business of the synod approve compensation guidelines, adopt a budget, address resolutions, and elect members to Synod Council. The Assembly is this synod s highest legislative authority, limited only by the constitution and bylaws of the synod and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, and the assembly s own resolutions. Assembly is also a cherished time when we gather from across the synod to reconnect with friends, meet new ones, and share what it means to be the body of Christ. There will be opportunity to spend time in biblical reflection and gather with members from other congregations in small group discussion, as well as participate in a variety of forums with topics related to our life together. This spring s assembly will be held May at Lutheran Church of Hope in West Des Moines. Confirmation Reminder Confirmation Classes will resume Wednesday, April 26 at 6:30 p.m. The topic is Holy Communion: I don t know what communion is for. Luke 22:14-20.
