1 HOLIDAY 2015 MESSENGER PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH OCEAN DRIVE His name will be called Prince of Peace. - Isaiah 9:6 ADVENT SERMON SERIES Christmas is Jesus The Message Delivered By Angels Dear ODPC Family, Each year as we celebrate the First Advent of Christ, we are simultaneously reminded of the Second Advent in 4-8 PM 25 % OFF which the old order of things will pass away and Christ our $ 1 LOREM IPSUM DOLOR SIT AMET $ 3 SED DO EIUSMOD TEMPOR INCIDIDUNT UT Lord will put all things to right. $ 5 DUIS AUTE IRURE DOLOR IN REPREHENDERIT When Jesus returns, it will mark the end of all $ 10 EXCEPTEUR SINT OCCAECAT CUPIDATAT NON divisions; the consolidation of all competing authorities. We Nov 29 - Zechariah and the Angel EXCEPTEUR SINT OCCAECAT CUPIDATAT NON PROIDENT live in a world of lines and boundaries, marking areas of Dec 6 - Mary and the Angel Dec 20 -Joseph and the Angel power and control. In politics there are so many systems, so Dec 24 - The Shepherds and the Angels many competing claims. In law there are many voices and many judges. Our world is a place of disagreement and conflict and war, where freedom is fragile and must be constantly defended. In fact, we are suspicious of over-mighty authorities, lest they become despotic or authoritarian. But Paul, in writing to the Philippians, reminds us that at the name of Jesus every knee shall bow. This instant consolidation will be good news. We will only have to listen to one voice, obey one power, and acknowledge one authority. That voice will be the voice of truth, that power will be the power of love, and that authority will be divine. continued on page 2 Blood Drive Monday, December 7 LFLC, noon - 5pm Sign up in the Welcome Center or the chuch office. COMMUNION Jan. 10 We will be hosting a Class of 2015 new members presentation at both services Sunday, January 24, There will be a reception in the LFLC immediately following the 11am service for the new members and their families.
2 message continued from page 1 Philippians 2:9-11 says, Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the Glory of God the Father. When Jesus returns there will be peace everywhere. May God help us all shine His light especially brightly at this time of year, when so many people are seeking peace and joy that can only be found in Him. Amen. Merry Christmas! Grace and Peace to you and yours in Christ Jesus, Warmly, Daryle Bush Pastor For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government will be upon his shoulder, and his name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. -Isaiah 9:6 Please join us this Sunday, December 6, at 9:30am and 11:00am for some bluegrass style Christmas music.

10 Julia s Baptism September 23, 2015 Hello, Happy thanksgiving day! Maybe most of you have forgotten me. This is Julia, one Chinese girl. In this summer, I stayed in America as one J1 student and was very lucky to get your help. First, I want to say I have come back my country safely. I know it is too late. Then, I want to say thanks. I know it is late, too. I am sorry for that because I had been busy for participating my last term s exams until last week. Recently, when I read JESUS CALLING, my God taught me to say thanks. Today is American thanksgiving day. i have been waiting for this good opportunity to express my thanks. Thank Becca and Luke for guiding me to find ODPC. Then I could meet many nice brothers and sisters here. Thank nice lady Muriel to take me into Bible Study class. Here, I have met many good people, and I was not alone again in my left American days. Thank pastor baptizing for me. I could start a new life. Thank Chris and Elaine, that was really one cool experience for me to visit airport. Thank Bobby for his tickets, I enjoyed one wonderful show. Exciting! Thank that handsome sir( sorry, I forget your name). that was my first time to see so many real dolphins! Thank Barbara, Morie, Benjamin, Laura, Sharon and Jerry.. I have many thanks to say. Thank everybody in ODPC. i couldn t imagine what would happen to me if i hadn t met you. It was my first time to go aboard. I tried my best to persuade my dad to allow. Before i came to America, my dad said sorry to me. he was sorry that he couldn t find one familiar people to care for me in the USA. He had been worrying about me.to be honest, i was unhappy for his thought.i believed i can do it.so, i wanted to prove to my father : i have been independent. But my situation in America was out of my expectation. And i really didn t want to ask my dad for help. i like challenge, i even considered sleeping under bridge as one exciting thing. Taking the bus to travel is also acceptable for me. i expected these to become my young age s special experience.but when i had no choice but to determine to travel America by myself. Fear was more than excitement. As i told my dad don t worry and cheated him that someone would accompany me to travel, i was anxious for unknown trip. (Please forgive me, every children will learn to say kind lie to their parents when they are walking in growing road.) But my following amazing experience was really out of my expectation, too. it was amazing. I never expected that you would offer me such help. I couldn t share my fear with my parents in China, when i tried to talk this to Shary, she told me, Julia, don t worry. We will help you. You needn t worry anything. continued on the next page
11 so, here, i want to say particular thanks to Shary and Jerry, Shirley and Jonathan, Rita and Larry, Morie. Thank you for driving me to experience one real American life. Thank you for praying for me. Thank you for your gifts. Thank you for offering me one place to stay. Thank you for cooking delicious food for me. you treated me like granddaughter. You gave me one piece of unforgettable time. That was my happiest time in my last 20 years, maybe in my whole life.thank you, thank you... I enjoyed saying How are you with every sisters and brothers in ODPC on sunday s worship, despite we didn t know each other before. I enjoyed taking part in Bible study with you. It gave me one peace feeling. Despite I couldn t understand every sentence in class, most time, I just could catch a few words. I enjoyed Duster s playing, violin play in hope s kitchen. I enjoyed doing some work with hope s kitchen s volunteers. I enjoyed each ODPC s activities. I enjoyed talking with you as having lunch. I enjoyed singing songs for our Lord together, despite I am not good at it. I enjoyed sitting in Morie s car to come back house. I enjoyed Playing words game with Shirley and Jonathan. I enjoyed walking around Charleston with Shary and climbing mountain with Jerry. I enjoyed taking a walk in Garden with Rita on that sunny day. I enjoyed watching film with you, watching show with you. I enjoyed staying with you, despite nothing to do. I miss you. My nice family in ODPC. I cherish these precious time carefully. I started to complain it was too short. In America, most things were fresh for me. Thank you for accepting me, this strange girl. Coming back home is always not one easy thing for me since I chose to leave hometown to seek challenge. ODPC gave me one home feeling. It is not easy for me to come back again, but i still hope i can meet you again one day. Who knows the destiny? Only our God. I also thank encountering setbacks in life which make me grown up and mature. Thank you every family member in ODPC again. Thank God. Love in ODPC. Happy thanksgiving day. And merry Christmas in advance. julia " " " " " " " (xuejiao zheng) *This was received Monday, November 30, Dear Prime Time members and congregation, Prime Time and Sea Haven November I extend my gratitude and deepest thanks for all the items donated for the youth at Sea Haven. 12 Evangelism & Outreach Cuba Mission Trip October Jerry and Wanda Wilder, along with Anni Hardcastle, and 6 others traveled to Cuba where they had a very successful and enlightening trip. Cuba is still very much 3rd world country. It's as if the whole country is frozen in time, 1959 to be exact. The country is very poor yet very clean. The people are awesome and very friendly. Crime is very low. They are a Communist country and suppressed by the government. It's just their way of life. We were there to visit 4 churches. We would set up in the churches then divide into groups and go out into the community to visit homes. We would share the story of Jesus Christ and invite our new friends to except Jesus into their hearts. We offered gifts of reading glasses and Bibles through the church. What a true blessing! After our home visits we would have a mini vacation Bible school with the children in the church. This allowed us an opportunity to share Jesus with children and give them gifts of coloring books, bracelets, arts and crafts and candy. Lots of fun! Jerry and I are looking forward to returning in April of Blessings, Wanda We visited 4 churches and visited homes and shared Christ's salvation, resulting in 68 people saying the prayer. 71 Bibles, in Spanish, were distributed and 150 pairs of glasses. Bible lessons and activities with the children were very popular and blessed all. Plans for future visits are being made. -Anni
