3 Greg s Footprints Ready or not Thanksgiving and Advent are upon us. The busy-ness of it all. Daylight shortens, darkness lengthens. We shift our clocks back to gain a little more light in the morning. We begin to hunker down, we stay inside, we grow quieter, we search for warmth. What do you expect this Advent? What do you anticipate? In the midst of this busy time. Take a moment and breathe. We are constantly surrounded by God s Peace if we would but take a moment, if we would but pause a moment: Just to say hello God, here I am! I don t believe it is an accident that Jesus was born in the depths of winter. The Sun rises too late and sets too early, days are too short and nights are too long. I want the light to stay longer. I anticipate the time when the grey days transform to blue again. I expect to see spring again. I anticipate that light shall enter the world again. I expect that the light that has been, will be again. Let us celebrate with gladness and thanksgiving the promise in Advent. Let us be humble; courageous enough to practice commitment; and let us anticipate with sure expectation that love will enter the world... again. The God of second chances always gives us a choice; so in this time of Advent; this time of waiting: we can choose to Love; we can choose to work for Peace; we can choose to provide Hope; we can choose to participate in the work of God; we can take Joy where we find it. May God s shalom fill you always and all ways. Greg WORSHIP LEADER SCHEDULE Thanks to all of you who volunteered for 2016! Please let Doni Walker or Calli know if you are not able to help next year or if you d like to help for the first time. The schedule is made out for the entire year so you have plenty of time to exchange Sundays with others when necessary. We try not to assign anyone more than two Sundays for the year. If you are uncomfortable composing a prayer, just ask the pastor or an elder to write one for you.

4 TO CONSIDER IN PRAYER It is not because we ask that God gives but by asking our hearts open to the possibility of what God has already given. Consider what possibility is already yours to receive. For I believe that I shall see the goodness of God in the land of the living. Ps 27:13 Let us pray with resolve just to be a blessing for someone in this moment: With gratitude we pray: For Chris & Jenn Snow, Jack Butler, Alvah Stevens, Jerry Graham, Eva Walker, Jim Nodland, Bob Lamberson, Don Johnson, John Engleman, Star Landers, Josh Skinner, Cindy Kelly, Linda Lichty. For all those who are dealing with illness. Those with dis-ease, those who are struggling with limited mobility and those whose experience of life has been altered through circumstance out of their control. For the leaders of our church, our community, state and nation. We pray for leaders around the world. We pray for those charged with determining public policy, we pray they would work for the common good of all of us. For families in conflict and discord, let us pray for them to find ways of loving each other, healing old wounds and sharing new joys. For those who struggle with Mental Illness and those who love them. For the grieving For the homeless and the hungry. For those who don t have enough... food, shelter, love... For the sick, the dying and the prisoner. For your enemy and for your friend. Be still and know. YOUTH NEWS We have scriptural calendars and greeting cards on order and will be selling them the next month before and after the church service for $8.00. Proceeds support our youth fund. 6 RECIPE BOOK Preparation of the international recipe book is underway. The title for the ESL Recipe Book has been selected - the one chosen was presented by Darlyne Lamb. Congratulations, Darlyne! We hope to have it ready for purchase by mid-december, however, many recipes were received and the preparation is being completed in-house. We will keep you posted as to availability. Proceeds will benefit our ESL School.

7 for your support..... Many thanks to the members of our Congregation who attended the Early Bird Pasta Dinner on 12 November It was a success! Extra donations from those at the meal and from those unable to attend helped make it possible to provide $ to assist those in need during the Holiday Season. Special thanks to those who generously donated their time and talents to help make it successful - to K. Allen who provided the delicious dessert - to Betty Thompson who presented the tasty baked spaghetti to Mary Anne Littlemore and Barbara Hare who earned their sous chef hats to Merri Allen, Loretta Evans, Kathye Gossett, Karen Jose, Tanya Kinser, and Lori Schmidt who ensured the plates of pasta were served hot to Calli Foxworth for handling reservations to Linda Rice for conducting the door prize drawing and to David Evans, Jerry Littlemore,Tom Rice and Max Webb for helping wherever needed particularly in helping clean and restore order to the kitchen and the fellowship hall. Their efforts are greatly appreciated! Special thanks to Veryl Zdenek for coordinating this event! So far we have presented a total of $10, to God through the church for the month of November.
