People say, things come in threes. Others say, when it rains, it pours. Either way, hopefully, we re done with challenges for a while! When I got back from vacation on May 26, our water was off. A main valve had broken and couldn t readily be repaired. With no water for toilets or drinking, and no time to find an alternative location to meet, we were forced to cancel services on Sunday, May 27. On Tuesday, May 29, Rick discovered a plate glass door leading to the sanctuary, shattered. Glass everywhere and on Wednesday, the A/C wasn t cooling the Sanctuary. Well that s four, so hopefully, it ll stop. As of this writing, we have water and the door has been repaired. We ll have our Pentecost Services, special offerings, and Memorial Remembrance on June 3. And yes, we filed a police report about the door, although nothing seems to be missing. And the A/C will be cooling by Sunday. In this Memorial Day Season, when we remember those who have given their lives for our freedoms and those who even now are in harm s way; and as we remember loved ones who have passed from our midst, both recently or long ago, may we look past these present inconveniences, to see the bigger picture of blessings and thanksgiving. Let us be glad: the Church building is repairable. We have the money to pay the bills. To my knowledge, no one is in the hospital. Those who were, are healing. Shawn got back safely after driving to Florida for the memorial service for her father-in-law. We got back from 3200 miles of driving to NY. Many others who traveled this past week, are safely home as well. Our Church family is blessed with dedicated individuals, equipped with a myriad of skills. The world is full of blooming flowers and the songs of birds. And most of all, in joy or sorrow, we can celebrate our Loving God who will never leave us. Beginning July 1, she will change her regular Tuesday day off to Thursday. Everything will be provided and food will be served at 6:30 p.m. with games and fun to follow. She has lots of land and a small lake. They bake their own breads and sweets. June has Jeannine or Twila with Juanita Stude for hostesses at the potluck on June 2. The group will tour Roasterie Coffee June 16. Meet in the church parking lot at 9:00 a.m. Check your schedule for other interesting activities. Alice Campbell, Co-Chair Seeking Sisters will be starting a new study on Monday, June 11 at 6:30 p.m. starting with a potluck. Our study is called Lasting Legacy: making a difference with my life. Some examples of the sessions are: Sharing My Spiritual Story; Being Vulnerable; Becoming an Authentic Christian, etc. We feel that this study will lead very well into our next study, which will be Contagious Community: living beyond yourself as well as get us more into the missional mindset. 5 TIBLOW TIDINGS PAGE 5 By Jean Brown Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. 2 Peter: 2 CWF met Wednesday, May 2, for their annual May Luncheon at First Watch Restaurant in Shawnee, Kansas. Those attending were: Pastor Margi Colerick, Lorine Shannon, Frances Haynes, Jackie Heffley, Barbara Lutte, Dora Stolfus, Betty Dunivan, and Jean Brown. Lorine said a blessing before the food arrived. Jean Brown passed around the 2012 Hostess Schedule. We then discussed possible lesson material. Most wanted to use the book: Jesus Parables of Grace by James W. Moore. Lorine thought we should also study The General Epistles in Just Women Magazine. Both are good inspiring material. Nifty Fifty Plus will meet at the home of Doug and Karen Thevenot on June 10 at 5:00 p.m. We will have a wiener roast. Everyone needs to bring a picnic item and let Karen know what you are bringing either by ing her at kthevenot@dkmetalsco.com or calling her at Remember, you don t have to be a member of the First Christian Church to join us. You just have to be a couple, one of which is 50 years old. We enjoy having new folks join us. Lorine ordered Chocolate Muffins for everyone in honor of Jackie Heffley s May birthday. She closed with prayer as we dispersed for home. The next meeting hostess is Betty Dunivan June 6 at 9:30 a.m. (starting the summer hours).
