If you come to the first service you can stop in Selix Hall after the service & have coffee & doughnuts. If you come to the second service you can start by going to Selix Hall for coffee & doughnuts. This is a great way for you to stay connected with those who attend the opposite service. It also frees up space in the foyer & allows our teams a chance to get things clean & ready for the next service. Lisa Mullikin New Kids Pastor For those who haven t hear, Lisa Mullikin was recently switched over to head the Children s ministry effective immediately. New Lunch Bunch Fellowship The Lunch Bunch is meeting on Sunday, September 9 th at Happy Joe s, and Sunday September 23 rd at North McDonald s. It meets after church or around 12:30 pm. This is for anyone who wants fellowship with others over lunch. Bring a friend and join in the fellowship. Here is the Transcript from KTVO News about Promise Land Fest: Sunday night the first ever Promise Land Christian Music Festival came to an end. The three day festival took place at the Promise Land Campgrounds right off of Highway 63 North. The music started playing on Friday evening and featured 18 bands from various music genres performing on two stages. One thing staff said was different about this music festival was that it was free of charge and it attracted people of all walks of life. I think just seeing the diverse people come here, you know. This is for everybody, wasn't just for -we wasn t just reaching for a select group of people. We just tried to get everybody to come here. And that's from the old to the young, to the rick to the poor, whatever it may be. We felt we had really a buffet of different kinds of people so I really thought that was really neat, said Nathan Grooms, organizer. Groom estimated around 1,500 people that came throughout the weekend. He hopes to make this an annual event and one that the community looks forward to each year. 4 PAGE 4 1 ST PEN PO ST September, 2012 Helen Mae Pettit, 86, of 810 Stone St. in Sigourney and formerly of Ottumwa, died at 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 10, 2012, at Sigourney Care Center. Funeral services were held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Pentecostal Assembly of God in Ottumwa; with Rev. Richard Schlotter officiating. Burial was in Batavia Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Pentecostal Assembly of God, Glad Tidings Church or Sigourney United Methodist Church. Raymond O. "Ray" Benjamin, of th St., passed into eternal life August 7, 2012, at the Ottumwa Regional Health Center. Attending at his side was his devoted son, Phil. Ray married Cora G. Miller on December 21, They were devoted soul mates and had a much loved marriage for close to 71 years. Ray was a father to son, Phillip E. Benjamin and wife Rosie of Ottumwa and to daughter, Kay Ann Benjamin-Verna and husband Gene of Leawood, Kansas. He was grandfather to Bryan Edward Benjamin and wife Meghan, to Wesley Nicole Verna- Bush and husband Mark and to Bethany Rae Benjamin-Vasquez and husband Thomas. He was blessed with five great-grandchildren, Blaine Edward Benjamin and Brynley Cora Benjamin, Drake Kristopher Bush, and Maelei Rose and Maiya Rae Ann Vasquez. Ray was a World War II Army Veteran serving in the battles of Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland, Central Europe. He received decorations and citations for The American Campaign Medal,Europe-African-Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon, with one Silver Battle Star, a Good Conduct Medal, a Victory Medal, World War II Medal, one Service Stripe and three Overseas Service Bars. He was given an Honorable Discharge on November 25, After Ray finished military service, he worked for John Morrell & Co. until the union decided to go on strike, "I thought I'd find something else to do," Ray said. Funeral services were held at First Pentecostal Assembly of God with Pastor Richard Schlotter and Pastor George Edgerly officiating. Burial was in Shaul Cemetery with military services conducted by Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars and O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion.
