For God sees not as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart. -1 Samuel 16: 7 Greetings to you and I look forward to serving you as the new President of the Anderson District UMW. It will be a learning experience and faith journey that we take together; so, I ask for patience, love, flexibility, and understanding from each of us to each of us as God leads us into mission and ministry. In John 15:1-17, we are reminded of our oneness with God. Let us keep that in mind along with our 2019 Anderson District theme, Being the Best ME I Can Be, as we move into and beyond another holiday season and into a new year of opportunity for us to grow spiritually and reflect that growth through our commitment and support of UMW. As United Methodist Women whose purpose is to know God, to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ, to develop a creative and supportive fellowship, and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church, we are bound by our God Love to recognize and share our individual God-given talents and collective resources in support of the initiatives and priorities of the United Methodist Women. THINK ABOUT IT: You may ask, What can I do? You may think or tell yourself, I m too old to be of any use You may believe, I don t have anything to contribute. You may know others who say, I m on a fixed income. I can t do anything. You may be tired. You may be too busy. You may be shy or soft-spoken. You may be undecided. You may be complacent. You may be unaffected. "You may simply not be aware of all that is accomplished through UMW shared mission-giving. NOW, ASK YOURSELF: If God were standing right in front of me, asking me to be involved, what would I say to God? Are there people less fortunate than me? Did God just decide to look past me when Gifts were being given to all? Does God have a purpose for my life? Is there ANYTHING I can do to make a difference to anyone? If I have only a dollar to give, and that dollar is added to the dollar given by millions of other United Methodist women around the world, can my single dollar make a collective difference? What would Jesus do? NOW READ: Philippians 4:13 2 Thessalonians 3:13 Galatians 6:9 Psalms 23 Psalms 18:32 Proverbs 3:6 Mark 9:23 Matthew 17:20 1 John 3:17-18 Matthew 22:37-39 Can YOU make a difference? Do you have something to share? Is it time for you to get motivated, energized, and activated YES! YES! YES! Our time is NOW. So, I challenge each of you (and self) to be the best YOU you can be in 2019 through your love and faithful service, honoring and serving God with your active involvement and participation as United Methodist Women. To God be the Glory! Blessings to each of you, Anderson District UMW President

Congratulations to Mrs. Bernice Anderson, who has celebrated her 90th birthday. Queen MaMa lives in Easley and is the mother of 3 daughters, Grandmother of 4 grandchildren, and great Grandmother of 3 great grandchildren. Many of you may have seen her around for quite some time now, as she has been involved with the United Methodist Women for over 50 years, and has attended many of the Conference and District meetings. She is an active member of Easley Chapel UMC and isn't afraid to share God's love with everyone she meets. It is good to share in this Sister of Christ's achievements. Please let me hear of any happenings among the UWW and our sisters. Just send an article or note to me at adumwcc@aol.com Being the communication coordinator I really want to hear from you and share some of your many blessings. What are you doing in your unit or in your church. Are there any events that you want to share with the Anderson District? JUST LET ME KNOW :) Eileen Thanks for SHARING Philippians 4:13 Enjoy the holiday season and remember the THEME of our 46th annual meeting. KNOW that you can do all things. Be strong and bold in your walk, share His story. We are never alone, when his love is in our hearts.

Presidential Scholarship South Carolina United Methodist Women is offering a scholarship to future leaders of United Methodist Women. As a supportive community our desire is to financially assist young women with their higher educational needs. Two are better than one, because they have good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up. Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken. 9 SHOWERS OF BLESSINGS The Easley Charge, comprised of John Wesley and Easley Chapel United Methodist Churches, experienced a God-directed and Spirit-filled worship service on Sunday, October 28, On that specific Sunday, Bishop Jonathan L. Holston, of the South Carolina Conference visited our congregation and effectively and spiritually "fed the lambs of Jesus Christ" with his dynamically preached sermon. The service was held in the sanctuary of Easley Chapel in Easley, SC. The day was designed as a dual celebratory time. The John Wesley membership acknowledged 139 years of exemplary dedication to God's mandate to be service-minded disciples. Easley Chapel members referenced 148 years of faithfulness to God's call to continuously spread His love. In addition to the church anniversary celebrations, the day was also outlined to include a responsive and heartfelt appreciation for Rev. Doris Bright. The Easley Charge family recognized and saluted Rev. Bright because of her God-based diligence, her productive attitude and her harmonious mind-set as she has shepherded her membership flock for the past two years. The entire service, filled with interpretive dance, inspirational readings and praise choir segments was geared to uplift, encourage and strengthen the Easley Charge. A heart-warming fellowship meal was served immediately after the worship service. The victorious result of the day was an overall aura that everyone was a recipient of a multiplicity of sustaining and overflowing showers of blessings.

GREETINGS FROM THE ANDERSON DISTRICT PROGRAM COMMITTEE: As many of you may know, we are proudly and humbly celebrating our 150 th UMW Anniversary in 2019! In fact, on the actual date of March 23, 2019, United Methodist Women will be 150 years young! Imagine 150 years of tireless, selfless giving of time, talents, and resources to make a difference globally in the lives of women, infants, and children who depend on what we do to give them hope for a brighter tomorrow. We honor and give thanks to our ancestral mothers, sisters, aunts, cousins, and friends whose legacy shines the light of God s love and mercy worldwide. To celebrate, the Anderson District is asking each of our UMW local units and circles, and ALL of our Anderson District churches to join us in our 150-year legacy by supporting the Legacy Fund through a celebration at your church or within your community on March 23 rd. We have two events we are asking that you host with proceeds from that event to be sent to the Anderson District United Methodist Women to support our LEGACY FUND. We want to work faithfully to leave a continuing UMW legacy that will be sustainable for the next 150 years and beyond! Our goal is to exceed $2,019 representing that we are looking beyond 2019 to continue our work as UMW. Here are the two events: 1. Host a Rock-a-thon: Get women, teens, ANYONE, to gather sponsors to donate to the person rocking according to how long they rock (example: if you rock for 15 minutes, your sponsors may sign up to agree to donate $1/minute for every minute you rock). Have a UMW birthday cake and coffee, water, tea, etc., to celebrate at the end of (or during) the event. Get creative! 2. Cake Walk: This is the traditional cake walk (similar to musical chairs) where you walk from square to square until the music stops and if you land on a cake designated square, you win a cake! Donations are taken for each walking participant, and any leftover cakes can be sold to add to your Legacy Fund donation! Have fun with this! Invite the community to participate The Anderson District officers have decided to do a Rock-a-thon on March 23, 2019, in Seneca, South Carolina at the Seneca City Museums. We will begin filling up rocking chairs on the front porch of the Historic Lunney Museum and when that porch is filled, we ll be prepared to fill up porches and the patio at the Bertha Lee Strickland Cultural Museum. If that gets filled, we will rock on the shared back lawn of the two museums! If you want your unit to participate with our District Officers or if you want to participate with us individually, please contact: (864) or purrfectshn@gmail.com and we will send you all the details of our Seneca location celebrations. We would LOVE to have you join us in Seneca! Contact us by March 1 st if you want to ROCK with us in Seneca. I hope all of our units and churches will participate in some type of celebration honoring our UMW 150-year Legacy on March 23. And, remember, if you and/or your church will be celebrating on that day, please let us know ahead of time so that we can help you get the word out to all our Anderson District UMW units and churches! Let s make this day a FUN day and a MEMORABLE day and let s raise FUNds to continue the UMW Legacy! Rock-a-thon Form is included in this newsletter.

Amazing Grace Lyrics Amazing grace! How sweet the sound That saved a wretch like me. I once was lost, but now am found, Was blind, but now I see. 'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear, And grace my fears relieved. How precious did that grace appear The hour I first believed. Through many dangers, toils and snares I have already come; 'Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far And grace will lead me home. The Lord has promised good to me His word my hope secures; He will my shield and portion be, As long as life endures. Prayer The joy of your presence is in the magnificence of your creation, O God. It is too awesome for words to express, and yet we try. Thank you for making your love obvious in all that you have made. We see this beauty and goodness in ourselves as well. You have made all of creation sacred. We area sacred. In nature, we encounter your presence and it sanctifies us. In the air, we breath your Spirit. In the water, we taste your goodness. In the earth, we smell your nurture. In the skies, we see your splendor. In the wind, we hear your presence. In each other, we feel your love. All of creation screams of your grace. AMEN. Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail, and mortal life shall cease, I shall possess within the veil, A life of joy and peace. When we've been there ten thousand years Bright shining as the sun, We've no less days to sing God's praise Than when we've first begun. --John Newton,
