Yes, I know we say that every year. Maybe it is because every year I feel overwhelmed with the work ahead of me to prepare for Christmas. It should not be like that! Christmas should be a time of contemplation and joy that God sent his Son to save us. That the Virgin Mary accepted the offer to carry the Son of God. Instead this time of year has become a big money grab and increasingly secular. Let us as Catholics not lose sight of the real reason for the celebrations. Let us follow the example of Jesus and the Saints by not being afraid to be counter culture. As Knights we lead by example so let us lead the effort by our words and deeds. Let us always say Merry Christmas and not happy holidays. Let us send religious themed Christmas cards. Let us continue to spend time with God during Adoration and at Mass. Let us continue to help those in need whether it is financially or through our labors. Gifts are nice and I am not suggesting that children not have that joy of opening gifts Christmas morning. We should enjoy time spent with family and friends but never forget the great gift God gave us on this day. Thank you for all that you do and being the leaders of our Faith that you are. A reminder too of our Keep Christ in Christmas poster contest for the kids. I hope that everyone encourages your children and grandchildren to participate in this event. It is not about the prizes but helping the children understand that Christ should always be part of Christmas. Details of the contest are in this newsletter. 4 On Sunday November 19 th, we will join with Brother Knights from the Philadelphia Chapter to serve our annual Thanksgiving dinner to the homeless at St John s Hospice. St John s Hospice is located at 11th and Race streets in Philadelphia. Anyone wishing to help should meet us in the lower parking lot of Maternity BVM church between 9:00 AM and 9:30 AM. We car pool to St John s at 9:30 AM because parking around the hospice is very limited. Maternity BVM is located at 9220 Old Bustleton Avenue, Philadelphia, PA ============================================== On Sunday October 29 th, Regina Mundi Council held an Open House after the 8:00 Am and 11:00 AM Masses. The weather held down attendance but we did get one new first degree candidate. Several Brothers, along with wives and children, stopped by despite the weather. Coffee and donuts were served along with juice for the kids. Page 4

Missing Knights Dear Brother Knights, My name is George Benson, Jr. I am a fellow knight and the Community Director for our Regina Mundi Council I am writing to let you know of all the exciting endeavors our council has been involved with. We have had numerous work details around our Assumption BVM parish to help and improve the church and its grounds. We have been volunteering in several activities with the Special Olympics. We clean Bristol Road twice a year of all trash. We support our Brothers as they journey through the exemplifications toward full knighthood. We have a council picnic once a year for brothers and their families. Our council meetings have become so well attended that we are running out of chairs for everyone. Our council has grown with brothers who have been participating in every aspect of the council. For as much participation and activity that our council has experienced, we would love to have more brothers join us in our journey to serve all that need it. 11 The St. John Neumann Assembly Annual Christmas Party and Testimonial Dinner will be held on December 3, 2017 at Brookside Manor at Somerton Springs. The dinner will be from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. 12 Right to Life Please thank the Brother Knights who participated with the National Life Chain Sunday rally at the Warminster Planned Parenthood facility. The event was a one hour vigil along Street road starting at Lewis drive.
