Townsend United Methodist Women Reunion or 4 th Day Meets every Wednesday at 8am at TUMC. If you have attended the Walk to Emmaus, please come join us. If interested in attending the Walk to Emmaus contact one of the members Phoebe Circle The Crochet Ladies are meeting at Silver Springs Assisted Living Home. They meet every Tuesday at 1 p.m. If you like to crochet or knit come and join us for an afternoon of fun and fellowship. Our next meeting will be November 7, Louann Rogers is Hostess. We ll be finalizing plans for the upcoming Bazaar on November 17.

4 PAGE 4 TUMU NOVEMBER 2018 NEWSLETTER UMW TEA & SHOEBOX PACKING First, a big THANK YOU to UMW president, Ann Lindsey, for providing such a beautiful and yummy tea. We all felt very spoiled and special. Thank you, Cheryl, for arriving early for setup. Another big thank you goes to each of you who helped either by providing items for the shoeboxes, assemble and pack them, or pay postage. In a very short time 40 boxes were ready to continue their journey around the world. They will be delivered to children worldwide, many who have not heard of Jesus, with Bible studies in their own language by Samaritan s Purse. The boxes also provide much needed school supplies and hygiene items. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. 5 TUMC NOVEMBER 2018 NEWSLETTER PAGE 5 Heart Trouble These last months have renewed the words in my life "HEART TROUBLE". This statement can mean many things in our lives. Our heart is small and is basically a muscle. It has four valves and without it you don't exist. We even have some that are artificial. Take your pulse, how many beats per minute do you feel? You can even feel your heart if you listen closely. Your physical heart is vital to your physical health. In Proverbs there is a verse, Chapter 4: verse 23. Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the well spring of life. Your spiritual heart is equally valuable to your spiritual health. This verse starts with a command, not a suggestion: "Above all guard your heart". I feel it is important that you keep your heart guarded because from within comes divine direction in your life. What about it: Is your heart healthy? If so you are in good shape and have spiritual health. This is a wonderful benefit of a healthy heart. 6 PAGE 6 TUMU NOVEMBER 2018 NEWSLETTER From Sandy Vanover YELLOW LIGHT The light turned yellow just in front of him. He did the right thing and stopped at the crosswalk, even though he could have beaten the red light by accelerating through the intersection. The tailgating woman behind him was furious and honked her horn, screaming in frustration, as she missed her chance to get through the intersection. As she was still in mid-rant, she heard a tap on her window and looked up into the face of a very serious police officer. The officer ordered her to exit her car with her hands up. He took her to the police station where she was searched, fingerprinted, photographed and placed in a holding cell. After a couple of hours, a policeman approached the cell and opened the door. She was escorted back to the booking desk where the arresting officer was waiting with her personal effects. He said, "I'm very sorry for this mistake. You see, I pulled up behind your car while you were blowing your horn, giving the guy in front of you the finger and cursing at him. I noticed the 'What Would Jesus Do' bumper sticker, the 'Choose Life' license plate holder, the 'Follow Me to Sunday-School' bumper sticker, and the chrome-plated Christian fish emblem on the trunk, so naturally I assumed you had stolen the car." Priceless.

He is generally in Helena Tuesdays and Thursdays and in Townsend Mondays and Wednesdays. It is best to make an appointment to make sure he will be available, as sometimes other events may conflict with office hours or he may have meetings scheduled already. Tuesday: 9 am to 12 pm at EHUMC and 12 pm to 1 pm at Smith's Cafe. Wednesday: 10 am to 12 the Mint Cafe and 12 pm to 3 pm at Parsonage Office. Thursday: 12 pm to 1 pm at Smith's Cafe and 3:30 pm to 6 pm at EHUMC Then, the Holy Land Pilgrimage takes place Jan Feb. 6, The tour s theme is Jesus: His Life, His Times, His Land, His Hebrew Faith. All items for sale will be set up in the room at the end of the hall on the main level. The silent auction and dinner will be in the Fellowship Hall. Booths and Silent Auction: 11:00 1:30 Roast Beef Dinner: 11:30 1:30 Roast Beef, Cole Slaw, Green Beans, Mashed Potatoes & Gravy Dinner Roll, Ice Cream or Sherbet, Cookie, & Beverage Prices: Adults: $10.00; Children 5-12: $5.00 Children under 5: Free! For delivery or meals to go, call between 10 & 11 am the day of the event. This is an opportunity to share our time, talents, and generosity in supporting the church while having a good time as well.
