As the summer begins heating up and staying hot, we at Congregation Agudath Achim are also heating up to new happenings within our midst. Work is beginning on our new three-year plan. Our new marketing committee, very capably led by Fran Kaminsky, has been meeting and will continue to meet throughout the summer with the goal of developing the best way to tell our story. We at AA have a positive story to tell and we should tell it. As we all know, Rabbi Henkin and his family are on the way to our progressive moving synagogue and many things are happening to welcome them. The Rabbi's first service is Friday night July 14. On Saturday, July 15, we are having a beautiful Kiddush luncheon in honor of their arrival. More details to follow. Planning has already been done to have neighborhood get-togethers to include all areas of our membership to meet the Henkin's in small informal settings. More information to follow but below are the dates and locations of each gathering. Sunday July 16-Victor and Elise Shernoff will welcome the Board, Skidaway Island and Burnsed Island Residents from 2-4 pm at our house. Lastly, but certainly not least, on Saturday August 26, a very special Kiddush luncheon will be held to honor Motti for everything he has done to continue our forward movement. These are exciting times at our synagogue. Come be a part of the excitement. I wish you a healthy and happy summer, wherever you may be going. Elise and I will be leaving for Hawaii on July 23 for about a month. Everyone have as much fun as we will be having. My best, Victor SHALOM SCHOOL Eva Locker JULY/AUGUST 2017 TAMMUZ-ELUL 5777 Page 2

6 SISTERHOOD Here are 4 simple steps to do this: How do I Send a Mitzvah-Gram? 1 Print out the Mitzvah-Gram page from the current HaYom newsletter with the list of people celebrating a birthday or anniversary in August. 2 Circle the names of all those people to whom you would like to send a Happy Birthday or Happy Anniversary greeting. 3 Mail or deliver your list, along with your check made out to Agudath Achim Sisterhood for $.50 for each circled name, to Barbara Abrams, 24 Raindrop Lane, Bluffton, S.C , or leave your list and check in the synagogue office. 4 Make sure to include your name(s) the way you want it (them) listed. In order for your birthday and anniversary greetings to be delivered in a timely manner, everyone needs to turn in August s Mitzvah- Gram sheet by the 15 th of July. If you have any questions about this project, please contact me at barba43@hargray.com, or at (843) or (843) Thanks to everyone for participating in this exciting program.
