5 THE JEWISH ASSOCIATION GIFT TO JEWISH RETIREMENT HOME IN HANNOVER, GERMANY Today i spend time at Jewish retirement home Lola Fischel Haus, Hannover, Germany. On behalf of the home, Mr. Stichnothe, CEO of the long term care home says thank you to you and your community at Beth Yaacov, for Your generous gift of kosher fruits from the Philippines. I gave the entire bag of fruits to them and some gifts from my family too. We had a wonderful time talking about the Philippines, the history of the Jewish community of the Philippines, the rescue story of 1300 German Jews in the Philippines. It was very good to hear how the seniors at the residence are doing. Now there are no more German Jewish survivors of the Holocaust at the home they all have passed away since early this year. The home is filled to capacity with contingent refugees, elderly people from former USSR. Many of these residents develop unique specific problems, so significant that they are doing research on the illnesses together with Jewish retirement home Frankfurt, who are witnessing the same severe conditions. Very good news there are now three Jewish kindergarten s in Hannover and soon a Jewish primary school the first since WW2 will open in the city of Hannover. More Jews call Hannover, Germany there home now than before WW2. Thank you so very much for you kind gift. Regards, MEMORIAL DAY AT THE MANILA AMERICAN CEMETERY AND MEMORIAL Memorial Day Ceremony at the Manila American Cemetery and Memorial. It is the largest cemetery from World War II outside the US. It has over 17,000 graves of Americans and Filipino's, include 250 Jewish graves. It also has the names of over 36,000 of the missing who gave their lives in the service of their country.
