Leibler Secondary School Leopold & Isabella Abrahamovits Yavneh Primary School Abeles Liberman Early Learning Centre Dear Parents, In light of recent tragic events in the community, we set up a professional team, ably led by Harry Gelber OAM and Dr. Michelle Meyer, to coordinate Mizrachi s immediate response to recent and related events, as well as our long-term approach to promoting mental health in our community. We are grateful to Rabbi Ian Goodhardt and representatives of Mizrachi s religious and lay leadership (including Leibler Yavneh College and Bnei Akiva) for their time and dedication to this important cause. The team is fortunate to receive ongoing professional guidance from Dr. Louise Flynn from Support After Suicide and Dr. Vicki Gordon OAM from Australian Jewish Psychologists. One of the aims of this group is to coordinate efforts across our entire organisation, to ensure that our messages are consistent, professionally guided and as effective as possible. In this spirit, we will be providing an information session to parents on the experience of grief after sudden and traumatic death. In this session, we will update parents on our efforts so far and cover topics such as grief; sudden trauma and how to talk to young people about difficult events. We anticipate a frank and open discussion, and do not recommend children attend under the age of 16. The meeting will take place in the Goldberger Hall at Mizrachi on Tuesday 31 January at 8pm. 5 A visual shiur with Rabbi Doobie Lisker Avreich and Maggid Shiur, Kollel Menachem Lubavitch Rabbi Lisker is a native of Los Angeles, California, and spent significant time studying in Yeshivot in the USA and Canada. Following his Rabbinic ordination and marriage, Rabbi Lisker joined Kollel Menachem.
