4 In light of recent events in Israel last night, former Bat Sherut to Leibler Yavneh College, Lia (Saper) Novogrotzki, wrote something short about her family's experience living close to Gaza in these challenging times, that she wanted to share with the Mizrachi community. Lia was a Bat Sherut in Yavneh 7 years ago. 5:20 AM The sirens wake us up and we run to the kids room. Quickly we grab our children and run to the safe room. We have 15 seconds to get there. After a few seconds we hear the sound of the explosion. The girls are frightened, the little one begins to cry and finds it hard to fall asleep again... At last they relax and we return to bed with hopes that the remainder of the night will be quiet. 5:40 Again alarm sounds disturb us, again the children are woken, again to the safe room... And so it happened last night, it happened two weeks ago and it'll probably happen again in the near future We are on the forefront, but we get our strength from many good and wonderful people from all over the world. 8 Motzei Shabbat, 7 th July at 8pm, Beit Haroeh invites you to An Evening with Alan Freedman The Voice of J-Air s Nothing Left In conversation with Anthony Gosling. Alan Freedman has been involved in Israel advocacy for the last 20yrs. He started by writing of letters to the editor of the Age, and was regularly published, when that newspaper wasn t so hostile to Israel. Alan is co-host of the radio program Nothing Left on J-AIR Jewish community radio which airs weekly on a Tuesday morning from 9 11am. This top rating show on J-AIR discusses issues around Israel advocacy and other Jewish issues, both national and from around the world, but not from a left-wing perspective. Over the last 6mths, he has been actively involved in the formation and rollout of the Australian Jewish Association which seeks to represent those Jews with beliefs based on Torah principles and/or politically conservative values. Alan is currently on the board of the AJA. When he has time to work, Alan is a clinical pharmacist conducting medication reviews for people in the community, and residents of aged care homes.
